  1. Thanks for sharing (and Ryoder for the new link). What a funny song, reminded me of 50s/60s songs the way it was arranged (but they wouldn't have sung a text like that in those days, at least in public, huh? ) The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  2. Thermosuit made of 1mm neoprene, only briefs and a vest under, and your jumpsuit over. Keeps you warm even at -5°C on the ground... if you have a hangar to pack The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

And I thought it was about the CYPRES "smiley washer" that Airtec gives away for free (as they do it with the CYPRES reserve loops). The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  4. Hell, this is true craftsmanship. And looks extraordinary well I like the colours and pattern, should be available as a real bikini, btw. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

  6. Folks around here sometimes have problems with martens. They are the only rodents I know of that vandalize engine compartments. I got a marten-quenching gadget in my engine compartment which sends out ultrasonic waves if there is any movement detected. Folks who have a garage or car-port say they put a wooden frame with mesh wire under their engine compartment (or place it on the ground and carefully drive into the garage) - the martens can move about the mesh wire and thus go somewhere else. Other folks spray their engine compartments with ant-marten sprays but I was told this isn't very effective, needs to be sprayed on every 4-5 weeks or so and might be smelled in the car as well. 7. I'd rather say you carefully read the information provided by the manufacturer instead of blustering in the forum, huh? The information is provided, and if ya read it: Freezing is what MIGHT happen; firing won't. EOT The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  8. The worst thing is that the unit may fire when you do not want it to. One already has (on the packing mat after a jump) and Airtec have stated that this problem is related and caused by static... One more, last answer. If it should fire on the packing mat it ain't "worst case", it just is inconvenient as you have to have your reserve repacked and have the CYPRES serviced (incl. new cutter which I understand will be shipped free of charge) It can't fire in the plane and especially not in freefall or during canopy ride, just read the FAQ, answers to questions 14 to 17. 9. Oh come on, not only you refuse to accept that Airtec has to deal with a problem a supplier caused, you also at least imply that they are lying? But hey, it's an AAD thread, keep shooting... I met Helmut Cloth several times and have also visited the Airtec manufacture and from what I have learned firsthand I can tell you that they really work at very high standards. Heck, it happened to about 10 of 30,000 units and - if at all - 1 in 30,000 with a pack mat fire. They offered a solution that is inconvenient but as far as I see it, balances the wish of folks to keep jumping with the probability of your very unit going faulty even if you comply with the SB (should then go down to ,000000000000000001% or something) I've jumped the CYPRES in my sports rig for 2 years with it being "vulnerable" and didn't wet my pants (as I couldn't be aware of the condition) The worst thing that might happen is it freezes. But what do I know... And NO, I do NEITHER work for Airtec NOR do I get any money from them for posting here. I have just been satisfied with their products for 10+ years and won't turn a moaner about this issue. This is also my last post here, as I know that these discussions very fast start spinning around one issue with hardcore zealots flaming each other. Not my cuppa. The sky is not the limit. 11. But she didn't run for a seat in Congress, hummm? Hope it was NOT one of these infamous "in-front-of-the-mirror, with a smartphone in my hand" photos and a duck face? The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  12. He's member #2 of our Society. Namo beat him by an eyelash; she's #1. @Oldwoman: Namo is really, really busy, has been working for 2 weeks even on Sundays :-( You can keep in touch with her on Facebook, though. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  13. Hehehehe, I read "I feel like I need a duck when I log in" Anyway, howzat: Duck, the duck is approaching you! (watch) The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  14. I can recommend the Wingstore guys as well. Bought there several time, prompt delivery, everything meticulously packed, no problems with invoice. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  15. How can you be sure? No matter how much things change they remain the same. Took forever for AAD's to gain acceptance, and only then when marketing convinced people it was failsafe. In reality it never has been failsafe and now we're back to the late 70's/early 80's where the operation of the device is again called into question. Huh? It was asked whether - in light of the recent SB - anyone really checked. The SB mentioed that the CYPRES in the - highly unlikely - event it gets stuck, it freezes. So it won't be able to pop your reserve, right? (OK, there's also this mysterious "fire on the packing mat" but I maybe am too much a physicist - or have too little insight into the matter as to understand why a "frozen" unit was able to fire the cutter, so I didn't take that really into account.) And again: They tested a hundred+ units for 13 months and didn't have such an error; it took years after 2009 to happen a few times (2 or 3, I suppose) in the field, so chances it happens to yours are really very, very low, huh? I won't wet my pants jumping it, have done so for 2 years The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  16. I didn't... ...as I was not skydiving I intend to do so but hey, if I happen to forget... at least it won't pop out the reserve when I don't expect it and I "only" have to take care of silver entirely myself. Yeah I know, irresponsible attitude, just being obnoxious, will really try to put it into my pre-jump gear check every time. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

    TI Q

Yep, had some of these MDMs here as well. Tongue out, "devil's fork" (i.e. index and little finger erect) that sort of thing is soooo important to them... But hey, I attend to them as I do to any other passenger. At least they usually are not too bad at getting their legs up when landing and that's something, huh? The sky is not the limit. 18. That was good to watch. I always wished I had abilities like that at junior high; was bullied so often for just being different... The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

  20. Muhahahaha, that was great. Don't think a lawsuit is waiting as the reporter just only asked IF she had an STD. But wait, common sense doesn't count when you are in 'merica and especially when it's sex-related. Well then... The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

  22. Röstfein Café Mokka. I'm pretty sure it isn't available in the US; it's even hard to get in Western regions of Germany. (As it's made in East Germany, in Magdeburg.) Very aromatic, real coffee, really strong but doesn't offend your tongue, throat or stomach. Best with a li'l milk, just some splashes. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. 24. Not to revive a "dead" thread but I found this video, the transition is truly awesome. Wish her all the best. Ah forgot... kinda reminds me a little of Penny (Kaley Cuoco) or is that just me only thinking so? The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
  25. Just found reading my AWAD mail: filipendulous: Hanging by a thread. That sort of also refers to us but we're hanging by quite a number of "threads", huh? The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
