  1. >I remember giving him lifts to the laundromat and he would only let you turn right... haha! Thanks for another funny memory! I gave him laundry rides... I had forgotten about the many 'quirks' of Frenchy... Practice random acts of kindness, and senseless beauty... And, give money for Mr Douglas! www.mrdouglas.org
  2. Should that not be, "Frap the site!!!"? (In keeping with my BSBD 'old school' theme).... I hope the 'dark side' humor never leaves. It acts as a good filter, to the very folks that I would rather NOT know....., like the 'old bat', that would sit in the spectator section of Phoenix/Z-Hills, and ask, "When do we get to see one of you people die?".... 3. Rickerby and I 'caught' him, one day. He was absolutely furious at us!!! He did not talk with us for weeks! So, we finally gave him a case of 'Christmas' beer, and asked for forgiveness. He lectured us for 'stealing' his jump, and had us promise to never do it again! But, he still often complained to us about that jump... "More smoke, Frenchy! We cannot find the DZ!!" 4. Well, it took several old computers, harddrives, backups, and recovery software.... But, I found the really nice picture of Ron & the Thai school kids photo, circa '05! This is the Ron that we all cared so much about... Have fun with the 'Infinite Freefallers'...... Practice random acts of kindness, and senseless beauty... 5. I was bitching all last week, about losing skydiving friends... Inside, I was hoping that it was like commercial airline crashes - a bunch happen, and then it is 'quite' again. Then yesterday, I heard from my dear friend in Peru. She knew I had a lot of my plate these past few days, and apologized for having to add to it.... It's so weird, too. I was looking at an old, candid shot from Z-Hills, when I was at the mini-storage Thursday. He was so happy in it. That was back in '87. We met in Z-Hills, in '85. This small, wild, bundle of skydiving energy! Watching him do team practice on 'chunk' exits was so entertaining! I think it was 10-ways, with Ron hidden among the other nine bodies, only his gripping hand showing. He made me realise that maybe I could make my living in the stock market, and skydive all I wanted, because of it. He and Buddy were quite a pair, out there in the 'back 40'. Ahhh, for the good, ol' days.... Thanks Ron, for forgiving my 'bad press' moment of '95. I was so happy, and amazed, when you finally came up to me at the grocery store in Deland, and said, "All is forgiven, Brother. Don't fuck up, again!". Like you, Clint, Thailand was the last place I got to see him. He was so very happy, bubbling with the old energy again. Check is in the mail..... 6. Yessir Jon.... That's Jeff Saunders, DZO of Westwind, formerly Green County... He died in the Cowboy's Caravan crash in '85. My first sight of someone in freefall beside me, was Jeff.... with a big-ass grin on his face!! In fact, Wes was the pilot that Saturday morning. It was one of my 20sec-delay jumps. Then, we 'punched' a little cloud. Two cool moments on that jump! I do not recall the fourth person's name. The logbook was stolen in '86....Grrrrr Practice random acts of kindness, and senseless beauty... And, give money for Mr Douglas! www.mrdouglas.org
  7. Jon, I am guessing it was Jenkinsburg. That was where I met him, as well as Rags. After posting the previous, I went back through the photos. This is that last 'student' jump of mine, with Wes being in another silly mood.... (first from the left).... Yeah, you could not hang around him long, without becoming a friend.... 8. Damn! Whatta lousy Monday.... I find out about Eli, and now, Wes.... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Wes put me on my first square, at jump #48. The DZO nearly fired him, 'cause the DZO had a strict 50 jump rule, before you got to jump a square. And, both of them were on my last 'student' jump, which also ended up being a 4-way, two point, sunset load. Visiting him in Deland, was one of those things I always tried to do, on every trip there. I hope his dog gets a good owner. He had a really nice dog, that 'talked' with me... a lot of talking, and always happy! Thanks for all those early Saturday morning jumps, and that really cool barrel roll in 182! Oh yeah, and all those 'Zero-G' exits.... despite the dirty floor..... Check's in the mail........... 9. Thank you so much for that link. I have been asking a lot of folks if they knew the facts. I am happy to say that I have fond memories of Beth, and her artwork. Whenever I hear her name mentioned, I always think of that beautiful picture of her tracking up to the formation. Unfortunately, it was destroyed in the '87 Z-Hills fire. 10. Proving again, that he is no wimp, Bush 41 did a nice tandem today. Way to go George!, on your 7th jump, celebrating your 85th birthday! And, way to go Tandem Master Mike! It was a great press conference, at the LZ!! Thanks for pushing skydiving. Then, he screwed up, asking Bush 43 to come to the mic... Then, I had to turn it off.... 11. Dear Jennifer, So much more sorry now, that I did not come see ya'll in England this past August. I just got the sad news today.... Grrrrrrrrrrr I met David in '83, when he and John LeBlanc showed up at Westwind DZ, near Atlanta. He convinced me to try a prototype PD150, not on the market yet. Damn near broke my arms in a stalled landing. He laughed his ass off! "Oh..I forgot to tell you about the flair point..." He ended up becoming one of my most cherished skydiving friends..... So many good trips....the '87 skull & crossbones, (his EET 'number'), birthday dive..... posing for his 'self portrait.... and staying with you two in Deland..... 'dosage testing' parties... The Bus.... I could on & on.... I'm misting now...Grrrrrr Email me, if I can be of any help to you... Blue Skies, Red Eyes... my friend of the past, my friend in the future.... Damn...the perfect storm continues.... Practice random acts of kindness, and senseless beauty... And, give money for Mr Douglas! www.mrdouglas.org
  12. A strange feeling, as I see this... having within the past hour... looked at the 'Bali Brawl' picture from 1989.... Harry was tossing bodies, like beer cans. They decided to leave him alone, and went after Fang, and McCord.... Harry soon showed up, with an 'escape Beemer'.... If I am staring at the starry skies, my mind usually thinks about his planetary pictures.... Enjoy the infinite skydive, brother.....
  13. [I am so shocked. I don't believe it happened to him. He was such a nice guy. .............. I'll never forget him or how he gave me the opportunity to go for the gusto!] Raff was one of the very few people that ALWAYS made wherever he was.........better. It would take a nasty whack on the head, to erase the great memories that he so easily produced! He's currently making the angels smile, no doubt! 14. >the leg was real bad for 4.5 years but thats all over now, yahoo. Did you finally allow the maggots to eat the bad stuff? You better still have the rig... no excuses! Go jump! 19. What a great picture to remember a really great person. So many good thoughts, of Z-Hills days in the past, racing around in my head these past few days. Every memory of Johnny creates a warm smile. One of those few people that you always want to use in the future, to get you out of bad moods... just think of all those good times....and the good vibes course through your mind.... 21. Whenever possible, I either watch, or do the pull, usually wearing the rig. Rigger Billy pulled it once, while it was on the packing table. The reserve spring was so 'dead', that the pilot never even reached the flourescent lights, 4-5 feet above the table!!!!!! He replaced the pilot, before he would even consider the repack. (The 'bad' pilot was a used one, bought in Europe, after I lost mine to a forest of tall pines..... So, beware of possible spring problems, with used pilots.....). A couple of repacks later, the same check knocked over a box of rubber bands, sitting on a table, almost 10 feet away. I was standing/wearing the rig, when I did that pull. 23. > just the thought of putting 4400+ jumps on a spreadsheet seems like a LOT of work.... Backup, backup often, store backup on different media, put the media elsewhere, in case 'shit happens'... Remember to pour a drink, before plunging into the project...You don't want to dehydrate too much.... Also, remember Visine, for the eyes.. Enjoy the results.....
