  1. Thanks a lot strife, it seems pretty reasonably priced also. definatley something ill look into. I may or may not be going jumping in the states so possibly wont need worldwide cover, although the insurance group that the APF uses may have an option for worldwide cover...

Zlew, I have said two times, I dont own or rent a house, home insurance is out of the question...

  2. Can anyone suggest any insurers that cover parachutes? I used to have Harrison Beaumont cover, but would like to compare several providers if possible.

I dont have any house insurance as im travelling around Australia for the foreseeable future, and I have my parachute with me, so wouldnt be able to use any home insurance companies. I am also a UK citizen so not sure if that would make a difference go companies.

  3. Thanks, it may be due to the rig being in a suitcase when i transport it but im not sure.

Cypres got back to me and said they would repair it for free if i send the unit to them and the turn around is 4 weeks :)

  4. Ive just realised the screen on my Cypres 2 is damaged. I have contacted Cypres about this, but have no idea how I've done it. The picture below is with the serial number visible on screen - it shows just how much of the screen is damaged!

    EDIT - Attached the picture!

  5. Im sat with the manual infront of me, and cant figure out how to power off the Viso 1.

    Turn VISO OFF
Press AND at the same time and hold until the
    VISO turns OFF.
Or, press to enter the Padlock window.

Can somebody please advise me how to turn the Viso 1 off please?

  6. I'm also in the same boat so instead of start a new thread I thought I'd just reply.

I'm going in November for as long as my money will last and was wondering what the largest and busiest dropzones are in aus? I've been looking at ramblers but from their description on their site, it sounds like they can barley get enough kid week jumpers...

  7. This may sound a bit of a daft question, but how can i get the serial number of my Solo 1?

Ive looked through the (2 page) manual but there doesnt seem to be anything on how to get the serial?

I had two out on first jump!

rolled onto back and the static line caught reserve pin somehow and got two out. didnt have anywhere enough knowledge to know what to do so i didnt do anything and just tried to land it.

    hard landing on the runway.

What kind of main and reserve were you on?

Manta 280 main and not sure on reserve...

  10. Thats exactly why i asked here guys, to find out if there were any slider lock designs that i could discuss with my rigger, apart from the ones ive stated. Id rather not get a skytie put on my reserve, just looking into getting locks but on my risers.

I would never attempt to modify my rig at all in any way, i know you didnt know that so your responses are expected :)

  11. I am trying to get some ideas of boogies and events that are on in Florida around March/April time 2013. I know the dates wont be set yet, but does anybody know of events/boogies that went on this year and their dates? Looking on DZs websites, it only shows upcomming events?

Ive managed to get the following list so far based on this years events:

    March
Shamrock Showdown, Deland, 16 march -18 march
    Come on I wana Lei U - Sebastian, 23 march - 25 march

    April
    Skydive EXPO - Deland - 03 april - 08 April
    Flight 1 canopy course - 07 April - 08 April

I would be gratefull if you could let me know about the events and boogies ive missed off this small list.

  12. Ive just got back from my first trip to Eloy. Ive been to Perris twice before during Easter 2010 and 2011.

I preferred Eloy over Perris. Eloy had between 30-40 lifts midweek and the nightlife was great (we stopped in the bunkhouse and therefore met more people than stopping off the dz). When i went to Perris both times, it was with a group of 100+ people so i cant really comment on what it would be like if the dz was not littered with my group.

The feel of Eloy is much better than Perris as its all in a circle, with the swimming pool in the centre of it all. Perris seemed to be built using a ruler as everything is down one long path!

Fires are permitted on the DZ at Eloy, there is a firepit between the toilets and the bunkhouse, which is a really cool place to meet people - set up a fire and people going to bed will come and chat to you at the fire :)

There are more places to hangout and relax when not jumping at Eloy also as its a larger place. There is a basketball hoop, 2 pool tables and a swimming pool. Perris has a swimming pool and a pool table.

Food is cheap-ish at Eloy. Get a hotdog and fries for $2.99 that fills you up during the day. For evening meal I had 7oz steak often for $11 I didnt eat that much on the DZ at Perris as we stopped of the DZ so cant really comment on food there.

If i had a choice, I would choose Eloy over perris every time.

  13. Thanks a million to everyone who has convinced me i need to get a car, i think we will end up going on a few days road trip to either vegas or mexico....

were leaning towards the skyrider although not sure how much its worth paying the extra money to have a kitchen and the like compared with the bunkhouse/team rooms. Looks like there will be 5, maybe 6 of us now. Since were renting a car, it doesnt matter that the skyrider is a little further away (~350m?!) also!

  14. Me and a few mates (6 in total) are coming to Eloy, Arizona from 27th march 2012 until 17th april 2012, and was looking for a bit of advice.

We have booked flights but not sure on where to stop or to rent a car. We know the dz has a bunkhouse and there is also the Sky Rider Inn on the dropzone, but were not sure weather to stay off the dz and just rent a car for the three weeks. What is the Bent Prop like for a drinking session? ive also heard there are no shops/bars within walking distance so if we stop on the dz, then we will most likely be there the entire time. Are there any other bars that anybody can recomend nearby?

Basically, im asking if you think we should stop on the dz and have no car, or stop off the dz and get a car.

Thanks a million for any advice B|
