The most important part is a good coach. You need to tell him/her what you are trying to acomplish. Being stable on your belly, turning and a little sliding is probably all you will be able to do in 15 minutes. Not to be a dick, but did you read the thread you linked to? The owner of the company said they were not sued out of business, they cloased the doors due to a low in the market. 3rd jump, I worked my way threw student status by packing for the school.... So basically the student rigs at that DZ were packed by the least experienced packers. Sort of a poster child for every whuffo's nightmare. I've represented a number of clients in the skydiving industry, so I have some perspective on this. From a business standpoint, that might be imprudent risk management/liability prevention. Students getting hurt generate some of the higher risk of a DZ getting sued. If a person who was fairly inexperienced at packing parachutes packed an injured student's rig, that could be a troublesome fact to deal with. It certainly wouldn't be a helpful one. Let me see if I follow your logic: You say that AADs should be required for all jumpers because an unconscious jumper going in without a reserve could land on another person and injure or kill that other person. Did I get that right ? I'm not sure if you realize what utter Bullshit this concept is. Others include DZO's getting sued, keeping people from having to use emergency services, I don't know this next one seems kind of like a big deal to me. .......SAVING LIVES. Im all for people not wanting to use them, if you don't want to for whatever reason thats your own problem. Why you wouldn't want to, Im not really sure, as the pros FAR outweigh the cons IMO. my point exactly. I started with the best available technology up to this point. WHY? Because I value my life and the lives of others.
