  6. heya! now theres a religion i could really get behind. i assume of course you have a working relationship with the brotherhood of Otters, Skyvans and DC3's ? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  7. 1 (number of rips I found in my newto-me main) 2 (number that ussually goes here since i couldnt jump while it was fixed):6:1 (my own gear! snoopy dance!!) oh well at least its fixed now. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  8. Exactly. personally I didnt call myself a skydiver til i was cleared for solo's (just off AFF7) just last week I was telling a wuffo friend that being a skydiver was like being an alcoholic that lives in a bar. "the sky is always up there, and i always wish i was too" strangly enough i find i have trouble relating more and more to people who dont jump, even the ones i've know for years.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  9. there are also civilian run chambers, however expect to pay LOTS more. $750-$850 vs the $50 the Govt will charge you. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  10. me. mother actually took me off ritalin after a week despite the dr's advice "thats not my son" i have a bad habit of stating things but not finishing them, but its gotten better (mostly thru more discipline not thru a change of focus) I read fast enough that the book stack always goes down. (then up again) i tend to intensely focus on a task or activity, then completely drop it for a while, the really interesting ones i ussually come back to... and listen to heavier music as well. (and lots of jazz cant get bored with that many changes.. hours and hours devoted to FPS and flight sims (i used to beta for quite a few) interesting similarity of nick's,i've used this one since i was 14 or so (8 characters fits in most video game score boards) wonder what else we have in common? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  11. I feel just as confident flying and landing the original Sabre 170 as I do the Skymaster 290s and 230s that I learned on. I don't feel as confident on the Sabre2. So where the hell was I going with this? At a 1.1:1 wingloading, it depends on the canopy, at least for me. I probably wouldn't buy a Sabre2 170 right now but I am seriously considering a used Sabre 170. It's plenty fast and responsive enough for me, but I am completely comfortable flying and landing it. Err, this post sucks. Distill whatever usefull information you can. actually that is the EXACT question i've been wondering i've been jumping a SabreII 190 (rental) and will be jumping a Sabre 190 (mine horray) what differences could you say you've noticed, flight/landing wise? (i'm told the opennings could smack me on occasion) more docile isnt a bad thing for me right now I've stood up most (but not all) of my landings but still have much to learn ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  12. actually arent quite a few christmas rituals "borrowed" from the pagan holiday of Yule that was co-oped by the christians? (decorating trees, gift giving, stockings etc. (along with easter and egg hunting I believe as well) ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  13. well military medicine at least a joke for you. "what do you call the guy who graduates first in his class from medical school?" magna cum laude "second" sum cumlaude "ok, what about last and second to last?" sir. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  14. Actually yes you can. I had mine yanked last thurs. and jumped on Saturday. No biggie. Just make sure that you feel ok before you go up. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  15. so flight/landing wise what am i looking at going from a Sabre2 190 (rental gear) to a Sabre 190 (my very own hooray!!) when my cypress gets installed before the 4th? i've already been told i can get used to getting smacked on occasion but what else do i need to keep in mind? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  16. well this newbie will be flailing at Eloy as much as possible over the 4 day if anyone wants a few good laughs. :D ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  17. there is the rub. i do not "owe" my soul to anyone elses personification of divinity. this is posted from another forum where we discuss but the bulk of it applies so i wont change my words the problem always seems to be "whos god?" and that is something goverment should stay far away from ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  18. actuall guys this web site has nearly every Calvin and Hobbes published. (its missing the book specials) organized by date. yup thats my idea of an afterlife. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  19. hmmm i guess it would be 4:0:0 then is it sad that i would switch the first for the second?
  20. hmmm feeling very sleepy, can i use you as a pillow?
  21. i remember reading about a skydive in Antarctica that where the aad saved one jumpers life . no it didnt affect my decision to learn to skydive. as they said at least 10 times during AFF1-3 "whos responsible for your survival?" "I am." "exactly."
  22. well his wings did work fine, right up until he tried something stuipid. (that he had been warned about) sounds like a great name for a high performance company i guess ideally you would name it after his father but who ever remembers his name? 2 pts to the first correct answer. (honor system guys doesnt count if you look it up)
  23. its something I was doing alot of thru AFF3, it took seeing the video of that jump before i got the idea, 2 more to AFF5 before i was really "stable" my AFF instructors kept telling me to relax, i just didnt get it. "I am relaxed, I'm just sort of stressing trying to get everything right" duh.. one told me I had great body position, the problem was i was just locking into it instead of arching naturally. video really really helps!
  24. as a lurker and an information junkie I'd like to thank everyone for their opinions and input on this topic. personally I think if it was big and square and responded to RR input, I'd land with what i had. I've played with RR flares at altitude, but havent tried to land that way. of course, my opinion may change if it actually happens, and its great to have thought about it beforehand.
  25. forgot one. Army Aviator, leans over, looks down, points out to T.O. "sure looks like shit down there"
