  1. Everything changes, always. "You can never step in the same river twice." Its not the same river it was and you aren't the same person. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  2. This, but one hand to another means behind your back around your front then reverse directions... it pretty much means you HAVE to learn to use your legs and core to fly instead of relying on your arms. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  3. agreed, the Airborne PLF isnt always applicable to every landing under a ram air... I had some serious retraining to do in jumpschool because I kept doing judo rolls instead of PLFs... the rolls are more effective (if entangling) but take ALOT more time to learn to do correctly. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  4. translation - "WOW, you look great after 24 years, and everybody else we used to know is fat and looks 15 years older" short answer - you're an amazing catch, they already missed that opportunity, and you can do a lot better This implies there was an opportunity to caught then... which IME isnt always the case, unless you are the kind of douchebag who forces himself into an already existing relationship in order to try create one for yourself ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  5. Well if you live in the middle of bum fuck no-where, you may well have to travel to improve your scope of whats possible. And c'mon traveling in your country is fucking dirt cheap. OK I will add at least 2 more, Eloy AZ and Sebastian FL. Now if the guy says he needs to travel across the country, we will be able to confirm that he lives in Bumfuck, Nowhere this... and while its similar to tracking I prefer to call it flocking... the entire point being to stay together with the group no matter what "flying attitude" you are in. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  6. Very very few modern perfumes have ambergris as an ingredient as trade in it is highly restricted. I've a small chunk I save for special occasions. It smells far better than any modern perfume I've ever experienced and nothing that attempts to replicate it comes anywhere close. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  9. Hey Squeaka, I'm always open to questions from you, mate. After getting a D license, 500 jumps, I feel you can go YEARS without jumping, come out, put on a rig and safely make a solo or small RW jump. I just had a friend, 666 jumps (cool number, eh?), who hadn't jumped in 7 years come out, rent some gear and make a solo yesterday. I would have made it a two way but I was busy with students. Quick review, no problems. I've seen similar jumps before with many old friends. As long as you keep your head in the sport and your EP's pumped into your pumpkin, I think you can make small, simple jumps safely after long periods of inactivity. The problem is how to keep rusty people off big ways, etc. There's not so much a problem with currency as there is with stupidity. ^This. After a half hour review of EPs and situational awareness my recurrency jump after a year deployed was "2 point HD, 2 point sit, 2 point belly and track to the sun" ofc its nice when its your home DZ and they know where you 'were' but that's the point of national standard licensing. Does a D mean Expert or not? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  10. Why the John, I would think that is the minimum any DZ should do on meeting an unfamiliar jumper. I log on my iPhone, and I dont leave my phone lying about. I dont quite understand that either... why is a digital log more accepted than say a protrack/neptune (I've had a few occasions where I hadnt added numbers to my log book yet and they didnt like my protrack&neptune as "logs" even when I pointed out they were synced with respect to time/dates (but not numbers) took a phone call too before they relented. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  12. I started doing that same thing around 500... I know some people like the verbiage, but I just didnt see the point apart from milestones or extremely memorable skydives. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  15. depending on the security level they'd have to, lethal force is an authorized response at many locations and quite a few security guards I've met want any excuse to shoot someone. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  16. that is also my reasoning for not doing yard work or spending an hour cleaning house when I can pay someone to do it for less than an hour of my labor rate. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  18. oh most dealerships will honor their warranty when it doesn't really cost them anything (they'd have had to replace the failed alternator anyway) and they'd rather not lose the customer when the materials and labor is a wash, but if/when that 3rd party repair causes additional damage? Expect some push back about not following the terms and conditions. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  19. Which may cover the battery but not a 3rd party alternator as the dealer cant guarantee part compatibility or installation standards either of which has the potential to fry the entire electrical system. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  20. Certified Pre Owned usually not covered by the original manufacturers warranty so the additional warranty is a dealership thing. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  21. that depends entirely on how the warranty is written. Quite a few I've seen for CPO vehicles include statements that all maintenance (apart from oil changes) be conducted at the dealership. I'm an Engineer, and I do know things, like not to touch hardware under warranty without reading the terms and conditions before hand. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  22. That is for you to figure out. For me it is the God of the Hebrew prophets and the one recently illuminated through the life of Jesus Christ. ... Pick a card, any card. One is just as good as another as long as you believe in it.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  23. OMG... 77 safety violations in 12 years. 12 deaths in 32 years. whatever will we do... perhaps she should look into the number of violations of stop signs and stop lights and the number of fatalities caused thereby? Oh wait... that isnt anywere as news (aka attention-seeking-media-whore) worthy. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
