  1. In conjunction with the Navy Seals demo on Tuesday, we are privileged to have use of the Pittsburg Tribune Review airship for jumping all weekend! This red, white, and blue blimp, properly referred to as a "hot air airship" is the only thermal airship in the USA which is used for commercial advertising. It is fitted with a transponder to fly in controlled airspace and can be internally illuminated. It will arrive later this afternoon as the winds die down, and we are expecting a beautiful blimp-jumping day Sunday as well! Where the world comes to skydive!
  2. Come have fun with the Navy Seals team at Skydive Cross Keys! Organizing for all levels of RW. Where the world comes to skydive!
  3. There are, indeed, 2 events at Wildwood Beach. The Swoop Competition on the 4th of July has a cash prize of about $6000 and lots of goodies! The Nationals is being held there for the first time ever in September on the Labor Day Weekend, and we are gathering sponsorships now in order to offset some of the costs for competitors. There is a cash prize during the Nationals for the Invitational Night Swoop Contest. The participation is limited, and the prize is $1500. That will really be something to see!!! Where the world comes to skydive!
  4. Just getting word from a few Wildwood motels that they will work with us to provide good discounts that weekend. I will post them here as they confirm, and please check the info on the skydivewildwood site as well. Right now it looks like the Royal Hawaiian is in, but we haven't confirmed the final rate as yet! Things are moving along! Where the world comes to skydive!
  5. Hey everybody - the forecast is calling for temperatures near 70 degrees for Safety Day, this Saturday March 11 at Skydive Cross Keys! There is no forecasted cloud cover, and winds are meant to be jumpable for students. How did this happen? Please join us for free seminars all day from the experts. We will start shortly after 9 am! We will have the Caravan, the King Air, and the Chopper for fun jumps to help you feel "refreshed"! Hope to see you all here! Liz Where the world comes to skydive!
  6. I got word from USPA that the new rules will be finalized and available May 1st. They were revamped at the FAI meeting in Stockholm at the beginning of the year, and the committee is working hard to have them available on the USPA.org site. There will be Open and Intermediate categories. Where the world comes to skydive!
  7. The grand prize at the USPA Canopy Piloting National Championships is a gold medal, and the great honor of representing your country, as the best of the best in America, in world competition! Any cash prizes are determined by a number of factors, including our success attracting sponsors. We will announce that as soon as we know. Where the world comes to skydive!
  8. The Nationals are Labor Day Weekend, September 1, 2, 3, and an available rain date on the 4th, with practice days available on August 30th and 31st Where the world comes to skydive!
  9. Yes - the great thing about Wildwood is that they really want us there, and give us access to whatever we need. They are building the swoop pond to our specifications, and they are letting us camp on a public beach. They are unbelievably supportive! Where the world comes to skydive!
  10. We at Skydive Cross Keys and Skydive Wildwood are delighted to host the 2006 USPA Nationals of Canopy Piloting. We are working hard to make this a very enjoyable, accessible, and affordable event for everyone who wishes to enter. At the same time, we hope to raise the profile of the sport of skydiving by making the event spectator friendly, and paving the way for future sponsorships and a wider acceptance of the sport. When we first considered Skydive Wildwood as a venue for the competition, the benefits of the positive exposure this event will generate were immediately obvious. There is an enormous audience in the Northeast, and thousands of people on the boardwalk daily. But, we also considered very seriously the costs borne by the competitors, and how we can make the competition affordable for everyone who qualifies and wishes to enter. To reach that goal, we are aggressively pursuing sponsorships from local vendors at Wildwood, and from some select larger corporations. We intend to use sponsorship primarily to offset the cost for competitors of helicopter slots. We have also arranged with the town for camping on the beach beside the competition area. Accommodations can be very pricey on the Labor Day weekend, so we are organizing a number of affordable options. Along with the beach camping, skydivers can use the lovely campgrounds just off the Island, with very good facilities. An abundance of cheaper hotels can be found right near the competition area. Local supporters are offsetting certain meal costs as well. As soon as we have compiled it, we will provide competitors lists of options on our website and by email so that everyone can book early. The registration fee includes a really beautiful banquet at the new convention center – right on the Boardwalk. Wildwood Beach has a great vibe for a National event, and some of the best visuals anywhere. With some preparation and planning we can have an affordable, well-attended Nationals that brings the sport of skydiving right to the audience, and provides a terrific, skill building environment for skydiving athletes. If you have specific questions, feel free to email us at [email protected] Where the world comes to skydive!
