  1. I love downsizing threads!! Let me come to your DZ, and if you can pull off the sickest shit on your 190 and get the most performance out of it, by all means, go and dowsize. If not, you're a clown, bro. You're that guy that sucks balls at skydiving, but tries to compensate by going out and getting the smallest container possible to create the illusion that you're more experienced than you actually are. You're not fooling anyone though. I chased you all over the sky as you backslid, because your body podition looks like that of someone with advancing cerebral palsy.
  2. http://www.flyingmag.com/news/latest-white-house-user-fee-plan-draws-fire Kind of seems like a little bit of chicken little syndrome is going on here within the skydiving community... A. Jump planes are not filing IFR flight plans, because if they had to, you wouldn't be jumping. B. My DZ isn't even within controlled airspace, so who the hell would even enforce the fee? C. Congress has already voiced their opposition to the bill.
  3. Yep, ditto on the $10/minute. I'm always in the tunnel within 15-30 minutes, but the one time I had a problem getting in quickly was on a Friday. As far as coaching, the guys at iFly are just as or even more qualified to make sure you continue to progress in the tunnel. Every time I go, the instructors have always been more than willing to offer instruction or hop in and show me how to do something. Just let them know what you're working on and I'm sure they'll help you out. Do make sure to tip... trust me it goes a long way.
  4. That is very disappointing indeed because the Perris tunnel is much bigger than Hollywood, but at 120 mph, just a waste for anyone more than 150 pounds.
  5. iFly Hollywood for sure. I can fly with my own jumpsuit in their tunnel and I heard they just recently increased the max speed... powerful little tunnel.
  6. I mentioned that Vegas locals had nothing but bad things to say about Skydive Vegas because they have a bad attitude towards experienced skydivers... I never said it was a bad place to do a first jump.
  7. That sucks. Yeah if the tunnel is maxed out at belly flying speeds, I wouldn't even waste my money. Perris has a tunnel with the same problem and they try to compensate by putting you in a big ass jumpsuit.... kind of defeats the purpose since you're trying to learn to fly your body :-/
  8. I have maybe 5 hours of tunnel time, so from my limited experience, I can tell you that it will magnify bad body position x100. Sometimes I still catch myself having to remember to put my shoulders and head back to create some huge lift. Most people don't realize that their rig creates some lift, so get those shoulders back to create more surface.
  9. From what I understand, people in Vegas jump at Mesquite, plain and simple. Skydive Vegas is just a tandem factory and I've heard nothing but bad things from experienced jumpers.
  10. Do your parents know you're gay?
  11. There is no difference in flying characteristics between ZP and ZPX. Only difference is that it packs about one size smaller smaller. I'm sure someone will come on here and split hairs, but I've flown a Pilot ZP and Pilot ZPX and noticed zero difference between the two.
  12. "rang the doorbell at 10:00 pm before realizing that I'm a bald brown indian dude in a jumpsuit with glowsticks duct taped all over. luckily they were cool about it and let me use their phone. Quote of the day "what the hell are you people doing jumping out at night"...seemed like a good idea at the time." LMAO. Great stuff, man.
  13. Heres what I went with... Yeah, that was a terrible idea
  14. You sound like an amateur. Only an overweight Dad of 3 at Disneyland would use auto focus. Fag.
  15. In a classic DZ.com fashion, you completely ignore the OP's question and mouth fart some irrelevant garbage about cx150's. Congratulations sir, you are a moron.
  16. I'll start with LiquidSky suits. Current turn-around-time is 6+ months for a jumpsuit. Did we not learn anything from Nike Air Jordan's when we were little? Hint: they won't make you jump like Mike.
  17. Most DZs don't even offer a day-rate, it per-jump and can be as much as $20/$25. At $75 for the day, you come out ahead in 4 jumps. If you're motivated, even a slow-pakcing newbie can make 8 jumps a day. That's less than $10/jump, not all that different from owning a rig when you add in repacks, maintenance, ADD service/batteries and wear-and-tear (which newbies are know for). You really think $75 is a lot to ask when they're letting you use a $6000 piece of equipment to throw yourself out of an airplane, uninsured, as many times as you want? You think the other guy is on crack? Interesting that the guy who doesn't have one rig thinks he knows all about owning and maintaining 20 rigs. The original discussion was focused on prices for new gear. And this is what you focused your attention on? What are you...retarded? 1. I own multiple rigs. 2. You took the "smoking crack" out of context! God you're a fucking retard. That was in regards to trying on stuff and getting advice. 3. Shut up, you obviously work at a gear store and got offended by a customers opinion. Which gear store do you work at?
  18. I don't agree with their points and obviously, like many skydivers, they barely graduated High School.
  19. Ask the guy I responded to. He accused Square 1 of taking advantage of students. He also suggested they served no purpose to the community, and that the idea of them being of use was akin to 'smoking crack'. I for one, DO NOT agree with that... Edit - I forgot the best part! He's complaining about a gear store renting a rig for the going rate (per-day) in a thread about the guy who used to ship customers a free rig to jump with their custom order was being filled. The same guy who was taking everyone's order, and their money, and not forwarding any of it to the manufacturer. The same guy who ripped off countless jumpers for what could be north of $100k. It's in this thread that he complains about Square 1, who's still in business, who sells gear everyday of the week, and has managed to maintain a good reputation while doing so (with everyone but the OP, of course). You're such a tool and obviously work at a DZ gear shop because your ad hominems clearly show you're an emotional debater. 1. I've owned multiple rigs...would like to clear that up first. 2. The original discussion was revolving around prices for new gear. I always shop online and not through Square One because their prices are out of control (i.e. I saved about $1000 on my last complete rig bought from an internet retailer). 3. At $75 for rigs that are 5+ years old is taking advantage of supply/demand. They have every right to maximizes profits, but most new jumpers have very little options. Those rigs have been paid for 10X. 4. "I forgot the best part! 20. Do you enjoy the benefits of that overhead? Free pullup cords, rubber bands, advice when you need it, the ability to try stuff on? A DZ is a microcosm community. A little support of the DZ can sometimes make the community you enjoy better. There are unseen costs to every discount. But hey, you got yours. 1. Yes, I take free pull-up cords that are given to square for free and include advertisements on them (i.e. Aerodyne, etc...). 2. Square One giving out free rubber bands!? Haha you must be kidding. $5 for a small bag. I've used Square One's services like gear rental, etc... in which they charge a hefty price of $75 a day! Don't act like they are saints because the reason they overcharge on gear rental is because they know students have zero choices until they purchase gear. 3.Advice? Try stuff on? You must be smoking crack.
