How is skydiving with just sunglasses? I have always wondered about doing that. I typically wear contact lenses when I jump. Is there any airflow around the sunglasses that would affect me?

    Cheers

i know some people who jump with gators who also wear contacts. these glasses are $150 and still might not fit your face good enough be adequate in freefall.

i have had my contact lens blow out inside of motorcycle goggles before.

i use these now http://www.chutingstar.com/newgear_en/peerser-goggles.html and have never had a problem. at 15 bucks you can replace them cheaply if you scratch them too bad.

a trick i have found to keep them really snug is make sure the goggles are putting pressure on the bridge of my nose. works great even in a sit.

they are pretty low profile for goggles and they dont look too bad.

thanks, seems to me the general trend is in favour of full face.

maybe on here, but at a real dz you pretty much see 50/50.

i hate wearing a fullface helmet. i couldnt give you an answer why i prefer one to the other. on my motorcycle i wear a half shell, even during the winter.

full face helmets are pretty expensive, and a protech has a better chance of helping you out during some kind of trauma.

remember when you had to push the little botton on the floor by the e brake to change the light from dim to bright in vehicles. i miss that:(

    What???
I had no idea that you were THAT old!
    :D:D;)

Haha, I'm not. The first Vehicle I had was a 75 ford f100 pick up. I love that damn truck. My dad and I broke down on the way back from fl when I was 16. We changed the alternator with a pair of channel locks and a screw driver. On a new vehicle you have to take apart half the engine and have a computer science degree to do that:|

  5. i went to my first bogie around 35 jumps. i had a great time and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

looking back, i am glad i made it through it. there is so much going on at a boogie, you really need to have your shit down pat. it is hard enough keeping yourself safe at your home dz where you know people and they know you.

either way have fun and be safe.

  6. while flying in a group it could be dangerous if there was a collision or wrap (safety). in that case an rsl could make it worse and adds steps needed to fix the problem. deploying at 13,000 you might not want an rsl either (opinion) because you have plenty of time to get stable (this was a high deployment, and i know not to do this at normal deployment altitudes).

You guys should practice some hop and pops... those exits where horrible...

agreed, i think i was the only one stable. you have to know how to exit in case you get out low. the guy that went out first has over a 100 jumps and i told him he might want to unhook his rsl, he had to have help[:/]

  8. welcome to skydiving, it can be a great motivator. i have lost 75lbs so far, and each one has made jumping easier.

    good luck and blue skies

  9. he was an awesome skydiver, amazing instructor, and an even better friend. he was one of my first friends when i started jumping at the farm, and i can't put into words how terrible this tradgedy is. i can't count the number of insightful conversations i had with jeremy, and it makes me sad that we will share no more.

blue skies black death, fly free brother.

please keep sending good vibes for his girlfriend, nicole. she is now in stable condition but still in ICU.
