  1. One of my friends is 4'10 and a full time tandem master. Give it a go.
  2. Yes absolutely. However if you're looking at tracking in the BASE environment and training for that, that's a whole different ballgame, the data gets really interesting there. I found reviewing the data from my BASE jumps really helpful. That being said, one of the best and most hardcore trackers I've known never trained with a Flysight at all.
  3. You can still train, for example if you're going for glide ratio you just adjust to get the highest number you can, like usual. Of course then the data isn't easy to compare to other jumps in other conditions, but I think it's always worth training with a Flysight, wind or not (and I've never tried adjusting for wind - but I should give it a go).
  4. For a second I thought you meant you managed to deploy the PC through the hole in the legwing, that would have been an interesting experience.
  5. But how do you know for sure if you didn't get a Barracuda as well? That would keep me up at night.
  6. That is the first time I've ever heard someone say they didn't like a Havok. What didn't you like about it? I love mine. Good range, easy to fly, versatile... it's a great suit, but each to their own I suppose. I can't speak for the Barracuda as I haven't flown one but I haven't heard of them being terrible.
  7. Here is one I spotted in the wild yesterday. I was told this is a 'Long long Vector', longer than the normal 'long' version. Brand new, 18 inches long apparently. However I suspect the jumper got this due to lanky body shape rather than for WS. Looks pretty good to me at first glance.
  8. Misrouted 3 rings can lock together and not release even when the cutaway cable is pulled. So in your words - neglecting to check the 3 rings is part of the cause in this situation.
  9. I did 20 jumps on an old F111 X228 that had been used as a reserve. It had the bridle attachment point cut off it so I super-tacked my bridle onto the load tapes that remained there. That started to come apart fairly quickly but my friendly rigger sewed a pull up cord on there that worked much better.
  10. That's a bit shit. Should be on a case-by-case basis like any other jumper.
  11. Is there someone on these formations you're jumping with who can help you? Try doing fun jumps with a load organiser with a coach rating. It sounds like you just need a couple of tips. Or jump with a wider variety of people, try other things. 100 jumps is not a lot in the grand scheme of things, you are still pretty new - stay safe and you'll get there.
  12. I suspect some women may also theoretically have a disadvantage in some performance areas. I think lean muscular guys (as opposed to the majority of dudes who are not really lean or muscular - like me) have more weight in their shoulders and chest that distributes weight further to the front of the wing and gives a more optimal centre of gravity for fast flight. Please bear in mind that's just theoretical and the usual 'wingsuit skills' and experience would account for 99% of usual performance. I for one would love to see more women in the sport, they are totally badass.
  13. It sounds like you've bought a good rig for you but the advice above to see if you can find a 210 to go with for a bit first is good advice - but hang on to the 190. My first rig was a Sabre 2 190 loaded at 1.15 and 900 jumps later I'm still using it. Great canopy.
  14. I reckon this your easiest and best option. Container may look a little bulkier but no need to change anything. I pack my Vector like this all the time.
  15. From what you've said, it sounds like the issue is not with pull force required to lift the bag, it is pull force required to unjam the bag from its position (rotated grommet to reserve) in the container before it can be lifted. So you are deploying after 2 seconds and having to wait 5 more seconds for the airspeed to pick up for the pilot chute to exert the required force to do this. Try taking a slightly longer delay (3-4), and the snatch force when the PC inflates will increase and may give you that boost you need to free the bag. As you've said the issue is not with lifting the bag as when you pack it grommet to pin there's no problem. I agree it sounds like PC porosity could be an issue too.
  16. I think a longer bridle is ideal but not 100% necessary. My vote for most helpful mod is the stowless/semi-stowless bag.
  17. Curious, has anyone here been unable to get to their PC on a wingsuit jump, when experienced and current on the suit you were jumping? What happened and why? Particularly interested to hear from anyone who had it happen following mutiple uneventful deployments on the same gear configuration. Edit: please no brand wars but am keen to hear what suit you were jumping. I know there have been instances of this on different suit models from different manufacturers.
  18. I have a constant fear that something's always near.
  19. I haven't jumped one but my advice on any upsize in suit is to treat it like your first wingsuit jump. Rehearse your recovery procedures, go up in good conditions (not lots of cloud) focus on a good exit, let the suit do its thing (but expect a bit more power and responsiveness) do some practise pulls in freefall, and pull high. You'll be right.
  20. Or try following someone in a Onesie in a wingsuit.
  21. That has been what I tend to see as well. Another one starting to cause a problem is large suits being marketed as 'easy to fly' (and sometimes they are). People read the 'easy to fly' part and ignore the rest. Anyway back on the Strix, I have just watched the PF promo for it and they are calling it a suit for intermediate flyers. So I feel like 200 jumps is on the conservative side for PF there (which is good). Whereas 70 for the ATC seems a bit low and might be just lower because if Squirrel upped it to 100 people would buy the Freak instead. Anyway I haven't jumped either of them, someone who has jumped both would have a more educated opinion.
  22. If you are looking for something bigger than a 210 what about a base canopy? One of the unvented sportier ones?
  23. I got a rear facing camera for this reason and that shows a fair amount, you could learn a lot from that without needing a huge unicorn mount.
