  1. Ha! Right. You mouthed off in a topic you clearly know nothing about. Then you made the following comment: And got totally owned there, again, because you didn't know what you were talking about. Note that NO-ONE made any personal comments to you, but rather about the "tech guy" you used as the basis for your argument. You, on the other hand, called people freaks; arm chair techies; etc. Now you're sitting in the corner crying about how people are "attacking you" when, in reality, you got set straight from BOTH sides of the isle making NON-PARTISAN observations based on REAL WORLD experience...which you had none of. On the topic of the website itself. it's a stunning display of incompetent contractor selection, project management, and testing from the person in the administration responsible for contractor selection all the way down the way the contractor handle the project. I would say it's fair to assume the rollout wouldn't be without issue, but the level of problem and failure is beyond unacceptable. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  2. I don't know about Ian, but I have done the solution architecture for a number of large government IT projects, although none anywhere near as big as this. Your tech guy is full of shit. I'm sure he would say you are full of shit. But what does he know, he only does it for a living. I've been a software developer for almost 17 years now. I have had teams working under me when I was doing software architecture, I've worked in biotech, banking, and private aviation in my field(multi million dollar projects), and now i'm the CTO of a start up. but hey...what do I know? :) side note: if your guy has built 1000's of websites in his career then it's pretty obvious he's never done anything substantial. Big projects take a long time, and there's no way he'd be getting the server side experience to take on a project like this simply pumping out html websites. Performance Designs Factory Team
  3. Amazon and Ebay, like so many of the big internet companies, started small and grew over time, learning lessons along the way. This web service had tens of millions of customers on day 1, across every state. To be more like the other two you mentioned, they would open up first for Idaho, then Arkansas, then a bigger state like Ohio, and then ramp up to the rest. Easy to say from the sidelines. But doesn't stand to any meaningful evaluation. Having worked at numerous companies in the land where this all came from, I can tell you that a million dollars would be a serious underbid for this project. agreed. 1 mill....lol....laughable and shows the incompetence of gravity's "tech" guy. Considering the integration pieces, etc that would have to go into the marketplace...... Performance Designs Factory Team
  4. I disagree. It is a failure of the government for choosing the companies that don't deliver. Hell - I outsource contracts all the time and if I pick the wrong vendor and the project does not come in on time and budget, the Board of Directors blames me and not the vendor. In this analogy, the taxpayers are the Board of Directors. I'd bet good money the president didn't pick the contractor.....which is why gravitymasters analogy doesn't fly Performance Designs Factory Team
  5. I don't agree. Companies contract out because they acknowledge they don't have the skill, expertise, or man power (often all) to do the job they need done. Unfortunately people making the decisions on whom to pick often don't know any better, or only look at the bottom line, causing inferior contractor selection. this is a failure of the company hired to do the job, and the likely result of cost vs quality that factors into picking contractors. 6. Tell me about it. It was beyond dismally tested, of course. I'm astounded, even with all my years in this field, that it was so piss poorly done. Performance Designs Factory Team
  7. So PD just wrapped up an amazing CP dedicated event....Swooping, CrW, Accuracy - anything canopy related. Some amazing competition, stunts, and surprises in store. Here's a teaser of what went down..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EojNae-Rcls Performance Designs Factory Team
  8. IMO, it's more a problem with the software industry and contracting/off shoring methodologies. I've seen millions of dollars wasted over, and over, and over again on things like this. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  9. Send it in for an inspection. You never really know what people have done with gear, and if it's not behaving as you'd expect (based on your past velo experience), I'd not mess around and have it checked out. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  10. :) well recovered and stated. That's a statement I can understand and get behind Performance Designs Factory Team
  11. I'm referring to the fact he wants her dead.....over gun control disagreements. Ridiculous. don't take my stance as support for her actions, its not. Its a comment on how some peoples 'passion' borders on insanity. Performance Designs Factory Team
  12. Nope never been a Brit. Am a US citizen though. And if you feel that someone should die, because they don't agree with you in gun control you're a nutcase. Performance Designs Factory Team
  13. Really? Over gun nonsense? Performance Designs Factory Team
  14. Ron, AKA Pennsatucky , has said before that he does not care if something is factually inaccurate as long as it fits his agenda beliefs. So, since truth is not as important to him as agenda, it's not surprising that no-one of a different opinion to him isn't 'capable of having a serious discussion' with him. 16. Serious question. Do you actually believe this stuff, or are you just having fun at this stage? Performance Designs Factory Team
  17. In this thread see my previous posts. there are talks about putting up a system for downsizing, as a lot of European countries have. That's all. I've spoken with 2 people, both involved in this process. The press got it wrong. As usual. ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  18. Not really, since its not accurate. Performance Designs Factory Team
  19. And I'm comfortable with the above being the opposite. We have no reason at all, and life it totally meaningless in the long term. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to believe in sunshine, and roses, for the afterlife but it just makes no sense to me that this is how the Universe would work. I believe there is a far higher statistical probability that god does NOT exist, than the inverse. It has zero effect on my moral compass though - I still feel like I should treat those around me as I'd like to be treated. In a nutshell - I don't need the threat of eternal damnation to help me make, what I believe to be, good choices. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  20. Yep - at least in my case. That said, I'm also totally comfortable with people believing whatever it is they need to get them through this life. As long as they don't try and shove it down my throat - I say "More power to them." Performance Designs Factory Team
  21. I have followed up on this and it appears it's inaccurate. The media is reporting an individual on the Civil Aviation Authorities OPINION, and swooping or CP competition is not in any way shape, or form, banned in Czech Republic. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  22. Waaa? USA has a LOWER poverty count than Europe. I'm sure someone can find more recent (possibly accurate) statistics than those I linked below, but I think you'll find that they're pretty close. Also, given how easy it is to travel between countries on a schengen visa, I have trouble believing that people aren't moving between these countries a lot. Europe http://www.inequalitywatch.eu/spip.php?article99 USA http://www.census.gov/hhes/www/poverty/about/overview/ Performance Designs Factory Team
  23. Agreed. I've been thinking the same thing recently. Performance Designs Factory Team
  24. I'd rather be average when it comes to mental stability. I'm not really interested in being on an extreme end of the spectrum there. ian Performance Designs Factory Team
