  1. An amazing depiction of apartheid, and the dehumanization that took place. To me, the scene with the egg's being burned was one of the best captured moments of the almost 'glee' that dehumanization allowed when committing atrocities. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  2. You're assuming enough altitude and time, Justin. Smaller rotations don't allow that which is often why you see certain techniques for 450 and less, vs 630 and more. ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  3. Parchment then ;) Performance Designs Factory Team
  4. You added the 'just'.....don't be disingenuous Performance Designs Factory Team
  5. Great read, thanks! Performance Designs Factory Team
  6. Ron, Nelson Mandela refused to renounce violence because the Government at that time would not renounce it either. I realize the apartheid situation is really difficult for anyone who didn't live through it to understand, but you are forgetting that segregation was LAW and the Government was committing atrocities against anyone "non-white" on a daily basis. I lived in a pretty quiet part of SA and the violence against, Black people particularly, but the police, government, etc was horrific. Honestly I don't think you can fully appreciate what was happening there at the time. I'd bet good money if you were on the receiving end of things, you'd have taken up arms eventually too. What? That comment makes no sense. It would only be a relevant comment if the Government was REQUIRING you to get an abortion and jailed/killed/tortured you if you didn't. You clearly have no idea what was happening in the country if you even could make such an asinine comparison. Do you realize that the government took people from their homes, marches them to "locations" and used the police force to keep them there? Do some research on apartheid, please. Ahh, because a piece of paper says so, yes. But you don't think South African's had a RIGHT to live without persecution simply because of the color of their skin? I guess not, because our 'law' at that time was that anyone who wasn't white wasn't ALLOWED to live in white areas. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  7. ummm....no. You're wrong. Performance Designs Factory Team
  8. His estranged ex-wife, Winnie is a total piece of work. A horrible person. Nelson, on the other hand, was not. He was an inspiration to a nation in one of it's darkest times. Instead of being a bitter dividing force, he succeeded in uniting the nation under the most challenging circumstances and with EVERY RIGHT to be a bitter angry person (as some of you on here are). Instead he chose the high road, the right road, and focused on the positive. I find it quite ironic, and hypocritical, how quick you are to point out that you'd take up arms against an imagined tyrannical USA government (and hence your rabid defense of the 2nd amendment), yet in a LEGITIMATE case like apartheid, you seem to think otherwise. 9. You are paying the packer to “pack” your canopy. Part of “packing” a canopy is setting the brakes and clearing the slider. It has nothing to do with “consideration of others”. Packers are leading jumpers around by the nose and jumpers are buying into it. By you doing the breaks and slider he can pack faster and make more money and you end up paying full price for the job. Sparky http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp55/mjosparky/STUPID.jpg +1 Pet peeve of mine (I do not MIND at all setting the brakes, etc to make it faster for the packer, but if they expect it I find it annoying and ask if I'll be getting a discount since I'm doing some of the work for them). Also, I will not use any packer who says "you just pay me to put it in the bag, not for the opening". I refuse to work with people who don't take pride, and care, in their work. Call me old fashioned Fortunately the packers I do use, are simply amazing. They pack like they're jumping the rig themselves, and they care about the quality of their work. 10. Don't...seriously. Don't tattoo other skydivers on you. Never a good idea. Performance Designs Factory Team
  11. But I'm African American! Performance Designs Factory Team
  12. I'm with Squeak and Grue on this one. Must be the darker South African humor. Performance Designs Factory Team
  13. I disagree. Regardless, we have no intentions of changing our policy regarding the powerpoints at this time. Nonetheless, thanks for your feedback. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  14. Sorry, but there's a ton of work in the power points, and we have no intention of handing them out. I can understand your desire, but attending the class is in no way paying for the PowerPoint, but instead the information presented therein as well as the 8 hr day of videoing landings and doing debriefs. Participants are free to take whatever notes they'd like, as well as reference the website, and are always free to take their videos for the day so they can take them home and study them. As always thank you for supporting our program. We believe its the most comprehensive one available. Look forward to seeing you in more classes soon. blues! ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  15. At the moment Flight-1 classes are $130 per person, with a minimum of 4 people. On a side note there are some exciting changes coming to Flight-1, our available courses, and where/how you can enter the program where it's relevant to you. Stay tuned. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  16. I beg to differ counselor. This is not a court of law. Its not even a mediation.
  17. Innocent until proven guilty, and whatnot. Burden of proof falls to you, Clint. Performance Designs Factory Team
  18. Nope, they want my alien # for some reason (and since I'm on the road for the next month I don't have access to it right now) which is ridiculous considering I have a goddamn US passport. I'd be happy if they asked for that as proof of citizenship, but instead I (like turtle) have to provide an inordinate amount of personal information. Quite annoying. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  19. ridiculous, pressure from the GOP is not an excuse. She's grasping at straws for a disastrous launch. Her benchmarks for testing are laughable too..... I don't blame Obama for the launch (or the GOP for that matter), but I sure as hell blame the people responsible for overseeing the project, and the contractor(s) who delivered. 20. pucker factor was high the first time through sure. The crw boys and girls were amazing though so solid teamwork from all made it smooth sailing. there's a point of no return on approach though, that and the burbles were the highest stress :) Performance Designs Factory Team
  21. I know this is in the swooping forum, but not all of you visit there....So, here's the first High Performance parachute flights through the center of a CrW formation (using the Performance Design's Peregrine HP parachute). Thanks to all the CrW dogs, and PD for making this happen. Was such a fun thing to do. Hope you enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MwrNPx5ciY&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D3MwrNPx5ciY&app=desktop Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  22. With 500gb+ of footage to go through I think it may be a while before the FULL release (but I can't say with any authority as I have no hand in that process at all). Rumor is, there'll be a few more things coming soon though
