  1. Were you the videographer on this jump? Why would you let your girlfriend's sister jump with him if you were so concerned about his drunkenness and unsafe practices?
  2. I was never able to hear mine either. I tried every possible setting, but no luck. Now I wear the N3 on my wrist and an Optima2 in my helmet. I can hear the Optima2 just fine.
  3. Ooops... that's odd. It was at the top of the forum list when I replied. I'll be checking post dates in the future. I've always chuckled when I saw others doing the same. Thanks for the heads up!
  4. How about ParacleteXP in Raeford, NC http://www.paracletexp.com Awesome 16 ft tunnel, but a little expensive.
  5. Could it be that the TSA guys are just a little bit edgy with the NATO summit in town this weekend? I hear there are even fighter jets flying over the city already. Not a good weekend to expect their best behaviour.
  6. My number of "acceptable fatalities" varies depending on whether we're killing ourselves or killing each other.
  7. Just curious what changes all of you think we might see in skydiving over the next 10/20/30 years? Gear technology? Aircraft? Regulations? Disciplines?
  8. Got my A license at the ripe age of 52. Don't think I'll be swooping, but everything else I want to do still seems obtainable. Go for it!!!
  9. Buy them all jumps. That's how I got started.
  10. LMAO!!!!!!!!!!! If she were someone else, perhaps someone I met at a bar (if I were to go to one), maybe so, but no kindness to her! She lies about everything and the only one who can't see it is the company owner, I guess he is pussy whooped! Ya think? Hi JD Score!!!! Great way to start the weeek off. with a LMAO. There are many ways to get even with folks by being "kind". We worked with a junk yard dog (bitch) that was trying to lose weight (slim fast for lunch). So we would lurk dounkin donutes ads for the 2/1 doz special. The bitch couldn't resist donuts , 2-3 donuts and slim fast for lunch That was to slow so we added mass qty's of M&M's. Big bags 75% off after the holidays. Had a big ass cookie jar in the form of a pig when someone would lift the lid the pig would go Oink oink. Everyone caught on to what I was doing except for the slim fast diet bitch. I had mystery donars leaving big ass bags of Holiday M&Ms on my desk. My bottom drawer was full of that crap. All day Oink Oink Oink, week after week, The slim fast liquid diet never worked for the bitch she was actually gaining weight. Meeting women at bars Think Tiger Woods. IMO Your boss is definately doing her, he just doesn't know it yet he's getting screwed more ways than one.
  11. I wonder what their solution is to the fogging issues that the G2 had? Is it simply the new mouth pieces? I've been holding off buying a new full face waiting to see what Cookie came up with.
  12. Would really put your spotting skills to the test, but think how many points you could turn!
  13. I heard that Sunpath Scotchgards all new rigs at the factory. Is this true? And do other rig manufacturers do it too?
  14. Those aren't the 'beer rules' that I was refering to. I'm talking about getting free beer out of rookies every time they do a 'first'. Not very proffesional in my opinion. I think they run a pretty tight ship at SDC.
  15. They don't abide by silly beer rules at SDC, so they are bound to have a few critics.
  16. I'm curious what their fall rate would be. Would it be much different than two individual freeflyers on their heads, since they're presenting about the same cross section to the relative wind as two individuals would? Seems like a dumb move, nonetheless.
  17. If I want to practice high speed PLFs, can I just jump from the tailgate of a moving pickup?
  18. I don't understand how this could be accomplished. I have a wing loading of just over 1.1, but I routinely jump with people with wing loads of 2.0+. Where would we fit in? And what about tandem camera guys? They tend to be highly loaded, but they jump with lightly loaded tandems. Where do they fit in? I just don't see any way to make it work.
  19. At the dropzone, Ive been given some terrible advice from some very experienced and accomplished skydivers. For example, the 45 degree rule for exit separation, or that at 70 jumps, I should start trying front riser turns to final. If that advice had been given here on DZ.com, it would have been met with a barrage of posts from the more sensible and knowledgeable people here, explaining why that advice should not be accepted. I would probably even learn a little about exit separation and recovery arcs. That's the reason I like DZ.com. Everybody is listening in, so bad advice is usually challenged immediately. We see it happen daily in these forums.
  20. Maybe somebody who actually knows the numbers can help us out here. I figured I use a little over a gallon of Jet A fuel to get to altitude in an Otter. So, if the price of fuel doubles, it still shouldn't cost more than about $5 extra per jump. Am I way off?
  21. Having never worn earplugs in freefall myself, I'm curious to know how they affect your ability to hear your audible alarms. I sometimes have trouble hearing them now. Will earplugs make it easier or more difficult?
  22. Who are you talking about? I've never had any problems with anyone here or in person. The only other beginners here that I've seen getting shit seem to thrive on it.
  23. I agree with that. Quote: "the amount of risk of a human casualty is said to be only one percent in the sport" With 5,000 jumps, I should have been dead 50 times now! I'd leave a comment, but I'll be darned if I'm going to give them my e-mail ID to register. Maybe he meant one percent of jumpers, not jumps. About one percent of licensed skydivers will die from a skydiving incident. Aside from being terribly misinformed, I think the author is probably very young and doesn't speak english as a first language.
  24. And of course if you're only going to inflate the balloon once, you're still going to need power to winch it down to the passengers, or get the passengers up to it. Now here are a couple of (possibly stupid) questions: - If a helium balloon is perfectly sealed so that none of the gas can escape, will it maintain the same lifting power indefinitely? - If you were to design a tethered helium balloon so that it had just barely enough 'buoyancy' to lift the required number of passengers, would you save energy overall because it was easier to haul down for boarding - at the expense of a very long ascent time? Why would you ever bring the balloon down? Just ride the tether up and down, kind of like the space elevator idea.
