  1. Was this quote written by somebody from America or from Iran? Either one would be equally justified bsbd! Yuri.
  2. At the point of the lowest air pressure... bsbd! Yuri.
  3. Would you like to fly a really beautiful gorge that requires holding pathetic L/D of 2.3 for 3km to make it out in one piece? I will be very happy to take you there. We could also progress to a couple of slightly harder cliffs where, from what i heard, Robi somehow survived Seriously, if you can fly better then Robi there is a few new mountains to open. Come and play! bsbd! Yuri.
  4. Oooh, what a funny video it was! I'd love a copy if you can find it. From what i remember i ended up doing a more or less flat 360 Here's my serious advice: try to ignore the wind. I tumbled because all the way up i was thinking about the wind flipping me over, and my head followed a pre-programmed tumble. In reality the wind is not a big deal at all. 2nd exit an hour later went absolutely perfect - this time i knew the only problem was my own imagination
  5. Your assumption is correct. Loic is exceptional at what he does, however he does not care much about maxing out and his suit is optimized for proximity flying. Most wingsuit skydives are definitely under 2.0, and so are most base flights from popular "tourist" spots. Some mountains require 2.1-2.4 averages over 90..120sec to survive, but they are only flown by a small handful of people. Nobody yet reached 2.5 average on a long flight, AFAIK. bsbd! Yuri.
  6. And to add to what Robi said, it really depends on a flight duration. While 2.7 is very realistic sustained L/D one can reach for a few seconds, best 2-minute averages barely reach 2.4. Body strength is a major limiting factor here. bsbd! Yuri.
  7. Jumped out of a plane with a wingsuit. Wingsuits are by far the easiest thing one can do in the air. It takes no time or particular talent to learn to fly, or to become a BMI for that matter bsbd! Yuri.
  8. Valera, the translation is absolutely accurate. Here is the original, if you want to check: http://64.233.183.104/search?q=cache:4JvwW_hm38YJ:www.baser.ru/event.html+baser.ru/event.html&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1 I am glad the advertisement now got removed from the board, and still hope to hear the boogie has been canceled. No need to be defensive, please just listen to locals opinions! bsbd! Yuri.
  9. This would supposedly go towards climbing equipment etc. But Valera does regularily charge considerable money to bring russian skydivers to ITW and other cliffs. There have been private concerns about it already. bsbd! Yuri.
  10. Yo! Lika (846) is going to Sao Paolo in a week and is looking for current contacts
  11. Yo! Yuri.
  12. Yo! I overheard some friends talking about organizing a big boogie at ITW, advertizing it on a national base forum and shooting for a 30+ big way record jump. I have already stated my opinion on that, but they would like to hear more local voices. Please comment. bsbd! Yuri.
  13. Hmm... "it depends" (c) I LOVE pin WLO toggles, they are by far the best and fastest slider-up release setup. When set up correctly there is no way in hell they would release prematurely. I haven't had any issues with pin toggles in 1k+ jumps. The new Apex WLO toggles are ok, but not as good or fast in releasing the line. On other hand, i would rather use regular (fabric) toggles on slider-down jumps. Of course slider-downs suck donkey schlong anyway Go fly a wingsuit!!! bsbd! Yuri.

Yo! A couple of jumpers have used 2km of altitude on base flights over the last week. Just another round-looking number, nothing important, really
  15. Yo! Will be in London for the first time next week or two, please PM with contact info if you're up for a beer!
  16. Definitely not a stall... it was still moving forward quite fast and still gliding over 1.5 (required to make LZ). On a second inspection there are loose stiches at the leg wing/bootie junction, so it probably was the leg wing after all. Another nice new wall today. No problems with the flutter - just some rain and clouds.... looks like the summer is over, after all On other hand, Bavarian beer is as good as it's ever been!
  17. Yo! I had a strange experience yesterday that i cannot quite explain. About 20 seconds into a normal cliff flight in a maxed out position an abrupt and violent vibration started suddenly. My first thought was that something blew up on the leg wing or deflector. The vibration was incredibly loud, shook the whole suit and reduced the glide a lot. I was not keen on doing anything radical and kept flying the suit trying to make it to LZ. After about 30 seconds the vibration stopped as abruptly as it started, without any particular control input that i can remember. There is no damage on the suit, and i cannot recreate this vibration. Any idea what the hell it could be? Anybody knows the theory of flutter? bsbd! Yuri.
  18. I completely agree with Chuck, i had one but never used it. It made sense for S1 with a narrow leg wing, but on the new suits with wider wings you can usually kick out without opening the leg wing. No harm in having LQRS, but no real need either. I do not have it on Vampires that i use in skydiving/base environment. bsbd! Yuri.
  19. POV video is exciting for proximity flying, but rather static and boring on perfomance flights. bsbd! Yuri.
  20. What the hell are you talking about? Do you have any clue? Damn skydivers...
  21. You can smash a small bug on your screen and stare at it for a couple of minutes. This is how all non-proximity WS flights look like on video Go watch some porn, really! bsbd! Yuri.
  22. Enough theory... From the field: V2 opened a new very technical 1200m cliff flight in Germany today. As you can imagine, max perfomance for both starting and gliding was mandatory. Simply put, V2 rules the world! bsbd! Yuri.
  23. It applied for all suits i have flown so far, even more for Classic and Prodigy. But screw the suits, freeclimbing an ice-covered vertical exposed wall to the exit point is where all the fun is! Can't believe i'm sitting here writing... was quite a day! bsbd! Yuri.
