Wow! Pretty insane, base without deploying....i wonder how long till someone does this without a rig on, hopefully never! -
Most forums have one, very useful for seeing what is new without browsing every forum, be great if you add one -
The most entertaining person in skydiving, Blue Skies Scotty -
DeltaKiloWhisky***Congrats on dealing with your first. i was in a similar boat having a cutaway early on at jump 24.
Question - How come such quick downsizing so early on? I'm hanging on up until around 100 jumps before i consider doing so, but i am wing loading at bang on 1 on a 230 at the moment.
Its a combo of a couple of things. First my coaches have been watching my canopy skills, and feel that I'm ready for each down size, and I keep pushing (learning and practicing as much as possible) to get downsized because the transition gear at my DZ in my size are a hot commodity. If my coaches and I feel safe at a size that is something that can be "mine" for the weekend, I'd rather do that then possibly get bumped from loads because my rig is already in the air on someone elses back.
Not a great reason to downsize IMO, don't rush things. At least 100 jumps @ a 1 loading is a good idea, i did about 300 and loved every one of them -
I've landed big canopies with broken steering lines before, not a big deal in my cases, Rear riser and PLF. I've also cut one away, because it was almost time for a repack anyways. -
Pretty sure Bob Wright, Grand Bend Canada has 10k or more, he did me back in 83, and he's still going -
still completely insane to not let a healthy 55yr old take up the sport
I know some TMs in their 70s who do several tandems a day, and pack as well -
I also wondered about the practice pull, maybe it would just be fun to do one with no rig on...where is that thing? -
Maybe someone could integrate some GPS into one, that shows the unit if horizontal speed is involved, and at what point it ends. -
Lodi DZ...amazingly $5 for a hop+pop, (100 jumps = $500) $15 for 13.500 -
diverdriverThis is my website section where I list all jump plane accidents that I have found. I am focused on the pilot and their training so my list includes accidents that may not have jumpers on at the moment of the accident. But the accidents affect the industry none the less.

Well done!
^ sounds like a nightmare, more than 7 years, wow -
Just looking at the first page of the incidents forum...seems like a lot of plane crashes lately to me!
More than usual? Ever been in one? Does it worry you much where you jump? -
I did mine at Zhills in the late 80s. I think it was an easter boogie, Jerry bird was doing it, Mr Douglas and Southern cross were there. We did a sunset 20 way, then drank beer and tried to get laid. -
Seriously great deal. Can I use the pass at all 3 of your DZs?. So glad i saw this thread! -
I'd be interested in seeing this thread updated, should be done every year or so, now 4+ years and everything is irrelevant. -
If I paid the $250k for a ticket, I'd seriously consider asking for a refund, if they won't give it, I'd still pass on the trip I think.
Would be nice to go to space for 5 mins, but not worth the risk with a new program....5 mins is not a long time! -
do you know approx price at Silicon Oasis for a week at that time....1 person? -
Damn, I live in Dominican Rep...seems to be the only Caribbean island with no ban/plan
upstaged by our island sharing Haiti -
Awesome!
Congrats to all that made it happen, Paragon, UPT, PD, Vigil, and $ from all us google users! -
Glad you're at least feeling emotionally stable, I would obviously not let anyone jump with a TI that had been contemplating suicide. Even the fact you had such a rough life would make me hesitant TBH, nothing to do with your choices. -
epicene? what a dumb name -
terrible design safety wise, if you can't see why I feel bad for you all -
emmett751Own VC84 love it, had a VE90 before that. But a fair amount of jumps on a friends JVX74, XAOS 84, JFX 90.
Enjoyed all of them, prefer either the JVX or VC personally.
VC @2.2-2.6 - better overall than the same sized VE IMHO, openings, rear response etc.. Super fast, light ish fronts, dives for days, fast.
JVX @ 2.5- Loved the flight characteristics, rears for DAYS!, openings at terminal are not as good as the VC (again opinion), turn it lower than the VC for sure little freaky at first.
Xaos @2.3- Fun just not as fun as the other. Openings are beautiful sub and full terminal, shallow recovery (comparatively), stable.
JFX @2.0- not my cup of tea, opened great, heavy fronts, shallow.
How much you weigh, you only jumping one years seems like pretty small -
I've been using my 2 waiting for the 4 to upgrade, but now I think I'll just look for a used black3
Add inlets to a Phantom1?
in Wing Suit Flying
If anyone who used to jump a P1 can give me their opinions how it flew, how they think it would improve with inlets... or anyone who has added inlets to any wingsuit, if it was fairly easy let me know what they think. Thanks!
