  1. I own V3 but I think J is more sexeh... too bad their delivery time was more than half a year when I was shopping for a rig. I understand the need for conformity. Without a concise set of rules to follow we would probably all have to resort to common sense. -David Thorne
  2. So can octomom But Jebs wingsuit videos are nice to watch. I understand the need for conformity. Without a concise set of rules to follow we would probably all have to resort to common sense. -David Thorne

Any updates on that suit? Hows fit, build quality, etc.? I understand the need for conformity. Without a concise set of rules to follow we would probably all have to resort to common sense. -David Thorne
  4. Actually the best one would be some sort of HTPC, but unless you're of a geekish persuasion you will not want to set one up. Then again you can pay others to do that for you and it will play anything and everything you throw at it. On second spot I'd put one of the network media players/tanks either with included BR player or a separate BR unit. These things (players and tanks) are usually foolproof for setup and use, support loads of containers, codecs and have plenty of additional features, but not all of them (PC is still a PC and you can do to it whatever you like). Now if you want to go the console way then PS3 is probably the best choice right now. It will not play/support as many things as HTPC or network media player (especially since sony removed the option of running linux on it without a hack), but you can play games on it... 7. This whole lawsuit will probably become very technically complicated. If the download of the CYPRESS data shows that it DID activate at the proper altitude, then the focus of the delayed opening moves to the container, deployment system, reserve canopy, etc. The suit could end up involving several other equipment manufacturers and dealers. Kevin K. Don't they all have the "..is a dangerous sport that may result in... does not accept any risk..." written on each and every thing and in each and every manual? Even by US "don't microwave your cat" standards this should be bulletproof as far as lawsuits go (that is if they didn't sell a device with design flaw etc.). I understand the need for conformity. 8. I have PR160 and Storm 170 in mine. No problems packing. Makes me wander if 150 is a bit small for this rig as closing loop is already quite short. I understand the need for conformity. Without a concise set of rules to follow we would probably all have to resort to common sense. -David Thorne
  9. I spoke with local rigger and we decided that its better to just bite the bullet and re-register my rig here since there are no FAA riggers around. Unfortunately that means I'll have to do this each year (yeah, it's the law ), repack reserve every 90 days, etc. But it got my rigger thinking to go and do FAA rigging course because it would make things so much easier for him and for his customers... 10. Thx for the FAR and all the advice! I'll speak to local riggers about this to see what can be done. Thanks again!! I understand the need for conformity. Without a concise set of rules to follow we would probably all have to resort to common sense. -David Thorne
  11. I checked FAR 105.3 and 105.43 on the internetz (link) and there is no mention what "certified parachute rigger" means. Is it possible to interpret it as "a person that hold rigger rating/licence in current geographical location"? I understand the need for conformity. 12. See here is the thing: it says Does it say anywhere at the beginning of the document what #certified parachute rigger" is? Just to clarify my situation: I bought a rig (with chutes and AAD) in USA where it was assembled and packed. I brought it to my country and have been happily jumping it. But now it's time for repack and there are no FAA riggers around. Now if I decide to register my rig with local authorities I will first have to pay for it, second I will need to repack my rig every 90 days (instead of 180 for US rigs). I'd like to avoid giving money for a piece of paper and repacking every 3 months if I can... I understand the need for conformity. 13. I figured that was the case... do you by any chance know which legal text covers this? I'm asking because it just might be "FAA or equivalent rigger" or something like that. 14. Here's the question: A rig bought and assembled in USA (by an FAA rigger) is jumped abroad and needs reserve repack (either because its due or was pulled). There are no FAA riggers around (but plenty of localy "legal" riggers). Is it allowed for non-FAA rigger (but a rigger in this particular country) to repack the reserve? Can it be then jumped (legaly) abroad and in US, or will it need an immediate repack when FAA rigger is found? The reason I'm asking is because here we have to "register" our parachutes with local authorities, unless they've been registered somwhere else. Mine was assembled in USA and is in need of repack, but I'm not sure if its legal to use non-FAA rigger... and there are no FAA riggers around A quick answer would be great EDIT: Also a link to the relevant legal text would be awesome!! 15. Google for "pet tracker" or "model airplane tracker" and similar. They come in all shapes and sizes, from expensive and bulky GPS tracking to simple radio beeper that works for couple 100 feet. You can also find plenty of instructions for DIY tracker. I understand the need for conformity. 17. Game is safe. That DEP crap is just another thing M$ put out to annoy their users . But its still bugged and eats up memory like crazy... I understand the need for conformity. Without a concise set of rules to follow we would probably all have to resort to common sense. -David Thorne
  18. In all those pictures throwing arm is never really "out of the way" to make sure PC inflates in clean(er) air. Also leg wing does not seem collapsed. I'd say that you did everything possible to have PC in a burbe, but then again I'm not a wingsuiter I understand the need for conformity. 19. This game has an awful problem with memory leak. After a couple of minutes (hours) of playing my firefox memory usage got to about 1,5GB (yes, giga). I did not browse any porn while playing either! I understand the need for conformity. Without a concise set of rules to follow we would probably all have to resort to common sense. -David Thorne

  22. I see some manufacturers making very "high-tech" freefly suits, with a range of different materials, ranging from thick cordura to slick ZP or F111 for different parts of the suit. But at DZs I still see people flying "normal" suits made just from polycotton, no fancy "cordura legs" and such. My question is do these "new" materials make noticeable difference in ones flying (more control, more power, etc.) and are they worth the high cost usually associated with them (500+ EUR)? I understand the need for conformity. Without a concise set of rules to follow we would probably all have to resort to common sense. -David Thorne
  23. I bought a camera helmet as my first freefly helmet because "I knew I was gonna do video and wanted to plan ahead". Now I still wanna do the video but would love to have purchased "normal" helmet back then, because I'm gonna buy new camera helmet when I put one on (which should be soon). I would at least get couple extra tickets and a beer... I understand the need for conformity. 24. Canopies tend to lose altitude over time which contributes (about 1/3 IIRC; 90 degrees vector) to the total air speed. Ontopic: I don't think the biggest problem in downsizing is increased speed in full flight. From my (very limited) experience the higher sensitivity to inputs (and thus tendency for inexperienced pilots to oversteer their canopies), higher chance of violent spinner during funny openings, ... stuff that kills you, not just the stuff that makes flying more fun (speed). 25. Nice work!! I think that video & camera section could do well with switches (bite/tongue/blow; lots of questions about those on the forums), hypeye, cameye and other skydive camera related stuff.
