In my experience most GPSs fail to lock signal in aircraft (unless you just happen to sit next to the pilot on each jump, sticking your GPS far under windscreen) and only acquire it when you open your canopy (clear view of sky + almost no speed). SOmetimes you even have to wait until you land to get a signal. If this 30$ GPS works for that will be great, but IMHO you will have spent 30$ for no effect, so spending 250$ on flysight and knowing it will work is much cheaper. But then again, do you really need a GPS on your jumps? I understand the need for conformity. Yes, problem was solved, thanks to a friendly posted on this forum. I also wrote that Klaus did his very best in supporting his SW until now. His latest replies (or lack of them) were unprofessional. I also think that your judgement of character is... well... shitty. I remember you being all excited and pleased with how karnage krew guy handheld his business, defending him every chance you got, when people were complaining on this forum about not getting their gear, etc. It turned out he was just a drunk gambler scamming skydivers out of money, so perhaps you're not the greatest reference when it comes to judging characters. I know Klaus is good guy because he has helped me in the past with Paralog problems. His track record however is not an excuse to not even send email with archive link while having time to write me a nice email with links to his FAQ and upgrade pages. I probably should have searched more to find that link to archive. I also understand he has other things to do apart from supporting his software, but his emails stopped at the exact moment when I asked for installer for older version. Before that he would answer in less than an hour with links to his FAQ and whatnot. I then asked for older version and have not received email since. That was almost one week ago. Which is {gasp} a bit more than one day. In email correspondence I way more polite, because I expected to get support as a paying customer. Only after almost a week of no response from him I decided to post here, because none of my friends had installer (and I did not search his entire website for that link to archive). His support so far has been excellent, but in this case he just bailed out and would not do anything unless I gave him more money (for something I already paid for). I recently bought a new computer and wanted to reinstall paralog, but could not register it due to licence limitations. I contacted Klaus about the issues but he only suggested me paying him more money and register version 7.x. When I asked him for installer for version 5.x his support and email stopped completely. Does anyone have a copy of 5.x installer stored somewhere? If so, I'd really appreciate if I can get a copy, because I'd prefer software without stupid FB and twitter bloat in it, and I also have no intention of uploading my jump data into clouds. What I like about this setup is that you can still lift visor few inches so that if it does fog you can still see where you're going under canopy. I don't like fixed visor fullfaces for this reason. Jarno, do you know if Hayden had a plan how to deal with snagged lines or something similar? Was it all plastic screws or his setup that snag-proof? I understand the need for conformity. I found this picture of what looks like a cookie G2/G3 with homemade flattop with DSLR and CX style camera mounted. Does anyone know if this thing has some sort of cutaway installed? I really like the idea of having fullface (no frozen face during winter) with video gear, but this one does not look safe. I use glide ratio beeps... It's kinda annoying that GPSs can only track ground speed and not airspeed (having "real" glide ration would be the awsomest thing evar!!), but you can at least get inter-day feedback if you keep the direction of flight constant and wind speed does not change much during the day. Plus I get kinda excited when I make my flysight go silent during WS flight I understand the need for conformity. Just make sure you don't start reading any of those threads where people debate closing rubber bands size, configuration, line dumps and all sorts of weird events contributed to having bends wrapped once instead of twice. Because you see, here are only 2 bands. Line dump happens on just about every jump, and the sequence of bands letting go of your lines is nonexistent (except for 2 closing bands). So according to rubber band hoaxers this design is the closest thing to having a death wish, yet people (me included) report more consistent, more on-heading openings without slammers (even with my girly pull with wingsuit in full flight). The bset thing about this bag is better openings. Easier packing is just a bonus really I understand the need for conformity. I used both. First I got me a Wintec because Flysight did not exist yet. The thing was very very bad at acquiring signal inside the plane, that I did not get many useful tracks. Keeping it turned on for the plane ride did not help, turning it on few minutes before exit neither. This was in Turbo Let-410 and Pilatus PC-6. BTW, if anyone wants to buy wintec, contact me When Flysight appeared I got one. This thing will find signal anywhere, anytime. Hot start is usually only few seconds, sometimes it needs up to 20s if the unit is far from windows (inside a metal plane). I _always_ had signal before exit with Flysight. Audio feedback in air is also pretty cool and I think it has helped me with my performance. I use earphones at the moment but will install low profile speakers inside of my helmet just to eliminate fiddling with the wires. Plus if you don't have anyone to jump with then the audio feedback is about the only objective info about your performance that you have at your disposal. Flysight wins even without audio feedback (with feedback it has no competition). I understand the need for conformity. Didn't the guy on Bridge Day "land" his wingsuit? T'was neither cool nor pretty, but he came in contact with the ground without opened parachute (he did try to open one tho) and is still alive AFAIK. One new line shouldn't cause problems for any user (that can already work with said file). If list of parameters gets too big just split it in two sections, one basic and one advanced (I'm assuming here that FlySight reads cofig file line-by-line, ignores commented lines and assigns values according to parameter's name, not line number). Me and a couple of friends will be flying to north cali next spring. On our last trip (to Perris, CA) we found a really nice guy who rented us a house for 2 weeks period (found him through Perris DZ), really cheap (20ish bucks/day/person) and very good accommodation (proper house, bathrooms, kitchen, even big ass TV ). Since Lodi (or perhaps it's just Bill - really not that much of a people person ) does not have a "info line" and probably does not give out advice on cheap house renting near his DZ, does anyone know of someone who does this (rents house)? We are a group of housebroken, clean skydivers. We do not drink excessive amounts of beer and do not make much noise. We'd need the place (sharing with others is not a problem) in march 2012 for about 2 weeks. (I know about sleeping at the Lodi DZ but this time we'll spend nights at iFly SF and probably jump a bit less during the day (you gotta sleep sometime) so Bill will not be happy with us taking up his beds and not jump a lot) I understand the need for conformity. There should be a lot of info in the internetz about switching HDDs in cameras for SSDs. I'd google for a SSD model that is proven to work with your camera (sony seems popular to modify, so you should find some info), then see if any additional work is needed other than just unplugging old drive and plugging new one. If sonys HHDs don't have any crappy code to check for disk manufacturer/installer, then you should be just fine. I understand the need for conformity. BUT since temperature is never constant (usually decreases with altitude but sometimes can do funny stuff), air composition (and its average molar mass) is never constant and because local weather phenomena can change pressure as well I'd say someone's got quite a lot of math in front of them to figure this one out. Have a good one! For what it's worth, IMO all AADs approximate pressure change to a single curve (linear or probably something very close to linear). Furthermore, the only way AADs can check themselves is (again IMO) one-point only (pressure at ground level), so this self-check is (at best; yup, IMO again) just a check to see if sensor is sending back data and (maybe) if received data seems logical or not. I see some people really like to see numbers on their screens and compare them to some other numbers they hear from folks at DZ (or read of the barometers), but in the end that "check" is not worth much (except maybe as an excuse to not loose in court).
