  1. I've been doing 30 mins a day at SVCO. 10 min sessions flying 5 2 min sessions in each. All sitflying for 3 days. Well that is unitl I cant sit and then I go to transitions from back to belly for a few mins. Needless to say after 3 days I'm beat lol. Stretching is a really big help as well as water.
  2. At 6'3 195 I have a long torso and I tried the Javelin and the Infinity. The Infinity seemed to fit me better so that is what I went went. Built solid, looks great and I'm happy as can be with it. Can't wait till I order my next one.
  3. I should try to round up everyones leftover footage and make one since I don't wear a camera yet lol. It's worth a shot for 2 hrs of tunnel time.
  4. Thanks, I got a PIlot 188 so I'm gonna enjoy that for awhile. I might look into a Sabre2 190 or Safire 2 for my next one.
  5. That is an interesting comparison. I demoed a 210 Storm and although it was the nicest opening canopy I have jumped, I found it to be kind of slow. It was a very docile canopy but I think I like the 9 cells better. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
  6. I understand lol. I wasn't looking for an OK. I was just curious. I have indeed been told that I will enjoy it more and that it will actually perform better than the 210. The 210 is fun right now but as far as when I order something, everyone said that I would be happier if I ordered a 190. Btw that is coming from experienced canopy pilots that have watched me since jump 1. I plan on being on the 190 for awhile.
  7. I was curious as to how much a difference 1.15 to 1 is compared to 1.04 to 1 on the same canopy. I ask because I am currently loading a 210 9 cell at the 1.04 to 1 and I would load a 190 at the 1.15 to 1. I'm jumping a Pilot right now and I will be demoing a Pulse next weekend.
  8. not sure how helpful this is but this is what I found about it sorry...I don't know how to make it a clicky http://impactnews.com/leander-cedar-park/255-recent-news/6926-cedar-park-signs-agreement-with-schlitterbahn
  9. I've been demoing a Pilot 210 and I dig it. It slammed me once on opening but only once so I'm not holding anything against it just yet. The flare is really good and it's a lot of fun to fly. It's also the ZPX material and fits perfect in my Infinity built for a 190. I'm loading it at 1.06 with 89 jumps and it's working well for me.
  10. I had this exact same thing happen to me a couple of weekends ago. I was jumping a demo canopy with really long brake lines and when I came into flare my left hand and arm cramped on me. It was my 4th jump of the day and last load and it has never happened before. I just plf'ed and did kind of a baseball slide for about 10 yds but it was trippy. I'm jumping a different demo and haven't had it happen since. Not sure if it was because of the extra long lines and length required to acheive input or just that I need exercise or something. Guess I need to drink more water and eat some bananas.
  11. I would say from my experience to do anything you can to buy your own. You can buy good used gear for a fraction of the price. It's hard for me to find used gear because I'm so tall and skinny so I just broke down and ordered a new container. I still rent though while I am waiting for it and it gets frustrating. I have gradually downsized through the student gear to get to the size that my container is being built for but sometimes students will have to use the rig I am jumping. I bounce between a 220, 240 and 260. Another thing with the student gear is that your only supposed to fly on your belly so it kind of limits your playing around. I jump at both DZ's in Houston and at my home DZ its $50 a day for rental. The other DZ is $25 per jump. My Infinity should be here next month though so I'm not sweating it too bad. Good luck on you "A"
  12. I think I had 12 jumps when I went. I wasn't struggling with anything but I just wanted to get some practice to help get through the student program. I finished the aff/coach levels without any repeats so I guess it helped lol. I found it useful for things such as side sliding since its pretty easy to tell if your doing it correctly in the tunnel. I know I did 40 mins one day and 20 the next and man was I worn out. The coaching is definitely useful. The whole experience is kind of expensive but not if you compare it to the equivalent number of lift tickets. I don't think I will go back though until I decide on something specific to work on. As far as belly flying I'll just use my money for the real thing. Good luck.
  13. Thanks for all the info. Not sure about the avg size thing lol. I'm 6'3 and like 194 and out the door with that 260 I've been jumping I'm like 230. I guess I'll just leave it up to them to decide what they think is right for me. Hopefully the tunnel doesn't take everything out of me so I can still put 100% into jumping there.
  14. QuoteWell, sea level's the same wherever you go, but the altitudes above sea level might vary. lol I had a feeling someone was gonna say something like that
  15. I am currently a student on lvl 11 in Houston and I will be heading to Ogden next week to do some tunnel time. I was hoping to do some coach jumps at Ogden Skydiving while I was there but I was curious as to how much of an impact the difference in altitude will make. I know they said they are 4500ft above sea level and according to what I have found on here you are supposed to add 10 sq ft of canopy for every 2000ft. I am currently jumping a Nav 260 and a 240. What all needs to be considered if I try to jump there? Or should I just wait till I get back to Houston lol?
  16. Congrats on passing lvl 4!!! I did 5 through 10 this past weekend with no problems and then failed 11 lol. I hesitated when my coach went out of the door and it took me awhile to catch him after I dove out. Then I couldn't make a dock because I was side sliding around him. He told me in debrief that he was laughing because he saw me trying to correct it with my arms when it was my legs that were messed up the whole time hahah. Oh well gonna try again soon. Good luck in your progression!!
  17. I just completed level 4 this past Sunday. Had a clean exit from 13500 and was stable and released. When I went to do my 2 practice touches I started a slow spin to the right after the 2nd one. I was quick to try to counter it with a left turn but it only seemed to pick up speed so I immediately just thought to myself to take a deep breath and relax and arch. What do you know the spin stopped. I checked my altitude again and then preceded on with the dive flow. Ended up pulling off multiple right and left stable 90's, pulled at 5 and had a nice soft on target landing. Being so new to the sport it still gets me how something as simple as relaxing helps so much. Its funny because like you said falling at terminal towards the earth its sometimes difficult to just "relax" but hang in there and don't give up. You'll get it.
  18. Ok so I've made 3 jumps now and almost everytime my allergies seem to kick my butt. 2 out of the 3 I've gotten a stupid cold afterwards. I don't know if the colds just happen to be a coincidence or if its the FF thats doing it to me. I sneeze everytime I get back down on the ground and then it seems like anything that was in my nose gets pushed into my throat and I get a sore throat. Is this just me or does anyone else have or had this problem? I have had bad allergies my whole life but I was always told that wind and cold is not what makes you sick. I'm just totally lost on what to try and do. The only thing I can think of would be to try a full face helmet. Anyone have any helpful suggestions?
  19. I didn't get the feeling when I went out of the Otter for my first time. The 2nd time I went of of a Cessna and it was there for a couple of seconds. Someone told me it was bc the 182 moves a lot slower and then some people tell me it's just bc I am anticipating it. Kind of like I'm doing it to myself. I always thought I hated it but it was actually kind of cool. Last weekend they were jumping a heli and they said you could feel from that. Maybe one day I'll experience that if the weather ever allows me to finish student.
  20. Made my 2nd tandem this past thursday and it was 10x's better than the first. I knew what to expect this time but for some reason I was more nervous. Once I got in the airplane it went away though. I was much more aware and able to actually comprehend what was going on. We jumped a Cessna this time and that was a little interesting, but I got to open and fly the main a bit. Hopefully I will be able to start AFF this next week. I feel a lot more secure now that I know what steering and opening for yourself feels like. I wanted to do a 2nd tandem before I started AFF because looking at my video there is a lot I don't remember. Sensory overload is a bitch hahaha and now I understand why everyone kept mentioning it.
  21. Yeah the whole falling feeling really wasn't there as I was expecting. I was told over and over by many different jumpers that it didn't exist and even though I knew that they knew what they were talking about I still didn't believe them. I literally got it for maybe a second after leaving the plane but then it instantly went away. I tend to think that I could have possibly given it to myself in the anticipation that it was gonna be there lol.
  22. I somewhat had the same experience. I have been fascinated with skydiving since I was a little kid. It took me till now to finally do it. I had been to the dz many times and my best friend is a licensed jumper but I kept making up excuses as to why I couldn't jump lol. I was just scared I guess. Well I made my first jump last Sunday. I enjoyed the heck out of it but in a strange sense it wasn't what I had always expected. I was completely scared out of my mind until I was out of the plane and then I was fine. I purchased another tandem the same day because I have a feeling now that I know what to expect, the second one will be more enjoyable. After that I believe I will begin the AFF training. I have terrible allergies and I dont know if it was the cold front that blew in on the day that I jumped or the shear fact of falling into the wind that did it but it tore me up hahaha. I'm just hoping that now that I know what to expect that I will be able to be more aware and really experience what is going on. I know I'm going to like it. I mean how can I not when all I can think about is wishing the weekend was here so I can get back out there. Good luck
