  1. The SanDisk is a removable SD card. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  2. Should be pretty trivial. An adapter would make it work with many laptops and you can just copy the pictures off. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  3. Here I was thinking this would be a post about a Cirrus airplane landing technique. Forgot this wasn't the AOPA forums. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

  6. Kinda like the padding of a base rig? Either way, dude still landed without a parachute, that's fuckin' amazing. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  7. While that was a hell of a jump, I'm not entirely convinced that he didn't have a base rig under the jumpsuit. It looks like there may be one (a pretty flat spot or two on the back of what appears to be a loose fitting jumpsuit but I don't see how the canopy would deploy through the jumpsuit.). Who knows, may just be reinforcements for the huge brass balls it took to do the jump. I'm curious how they got the word that he didn't have to jump with the rig on, the FAA doesn't tend to make that kind of call last minute. Did anyone see the VASI/PAPI type lights? I didn't see them in the video, but the logic made sense to me. 8. Yep, it got the ax last year. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4733727#4733727 "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  9. Do you know if they're using wastewater to create drinking water? If so, then I would imagine it's possible for the THC to be found in the urine of people who smoke it, then pass thru the treatment facility and back into the potable water supply. I dunno. I try to keep my distance from our waste water sites, but I do know that at least in our area, we're not allowed to use the treated waste water for anything but lawn irrigation and the rest runs back into the bay. 10. Well, I'd imagine that the water system testing requires them to test for all kinds of drugs (legal and illegal) in the public water supply. It's gotta be a LOT of THC to get to the point that they're worried about the entire system. Someones grow is having a bad time. 12. The DPRE gave me a press during my O/P to seal the rig I was packing for the exam, then said to keep it since I'll be needing it anyways. It's one of the nicer ones too, not the roll pins but it's got the bolt and nut hinge. I got my seal die engraved by Sealexim and it looks great, but good luck finding those guys. 13. Yep, as a skydiver I'm very familiar with the mechanical flap mech. on the old Skylanes. Those electric flaps sound like a bit of a step backwards, don't they? Thanks for the fine points. .
  14. We have a system that sounds very much like that in our V-tail Bonanza, but I've never seen one like that in a Cessna, granted I haven't flown too many types (182, 172, 150). The ones I've always seen are like the attached photo. I do like the Pipers, they're easy, never gotta worry about mixing up the gear switch and the flap switch (and landing a beautiful Bonanza with the gear up... but that was another pilot), and they are all the freaking same on the Piper aircraft that I've flown (Arrow, Cherokee, Lance and Seminole) "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  15. Maybe she just followed the "After Landing" Checklist? Also, depending on the nature of the failure, she might have opted to not actuate the flaps or been unable due to a complete electrical failure coincidental to the fan quitting. 16. Any landing you can walk away from is a good one. Hell, if the fan quit spinning, she did better than many others. She and her CFI done good. 17. So, your ratings were stripped, but were you not allowed to re-take the courses to re-earn them? Seems like if you can do that, it'd be easier and a lot has changed in 11 years, so it wouldn't hurt to get up to date. 18. Usually I got line twists subsequent to end cell closures that cleared a little faster on one side than the other. Almost chopped once or twice but was able to work out the twists. Changing canopies helped a lot. Going from a Sabre2 170 to a Safire2 169 with an oversized slider almost completely removed any line twists on my deployments. Going with the UPT semi-stowless bag also probably helped a bunch. Or, as the rigger and packers would say, it was poor body position. 19. Ironically, the construction south of the pond and west of the Top Golf is going to be a Tampa General Hospital facility (don't think it'll be trauma but it should have an ER from what I understood). The tunnel will apparently be north of that facility (I'm guessing where the pond is currently located or maybe a tad south of it). I drive past this location twice a day going to/coming from work, I only live about 3.5 miles (road route) from there, not too bad... May have to dust off the cobwebs. 20. Same manufacturer makes THIS one. I have one (from about 13 years ago) and still have yet to find a use for the pharmaceutical spatula. 21. You can also pro-pack on the ground to help demonstrate what's going on. I generally pro-pack reserves on the ground as it lets me keep them nice and neat from the start. 22. You must've missed the FAA's motto: "We're not happy till you're not happy." Of course, there's also the internal one: "Here at the FAA we've upped our standards, so up yours." 23. Two things: 1) Sometimes they're not free 2) Sometimes people will line up for them I'll remind you of a poster who hasn't been on here in a few years, banesanura who was a professional dominatrix. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=3242747 Man, I miss reading her posts in a twisted kind of way. 25. what are the symbols on the seal ? Also in which country is the rigger operating ? Which authority has licensed/certificated that rigger ? The symbols are our unique 3-digit codes. The FAA calls them symbols. For instance, my certificates with ratings (I'm actually not sure if I have 3 certificates or one certificate with 3 ratings, but I have 3 cards, I'm thinking it's the former): [inline symbol.PNG] There was an old copy of the symbols list around here but that is several years old by now. Looks like someone put it up on Google Docs: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4782293#4782293 I downloaded the entire database at one point, but I didn't really do much with it because I was being lazy. Maybe one of these days I'll make a searchable database if I can figure out how they had it all set up. I also recall that the seal symbol codes weren't present in that download so it may be something that has to come via specific requests. Edit: Found the CSV.
