  1. Tried to renew classified ad but your link didn’t get me there. Not obvious how to. Not a fan of the new format.
  2. The earlier tunnels, like the Aerodium (was northeast of Montreal in St Simon, circa 1980's), used to have 'balloon suits'. They had mesh vents to help the suit inflate to create more drag. However, that type of suit greatly limits what you are able to do in the tunnel. I was fortunate to be lighter so was able to use an old super baggy jumpsuit which at least allowed me to do flips, etc. While it was fun back in the day, I would never waste the time or money building a tunnel with a severe restriction like that.
  3. lukeh and repcool, that's the kind of setup I'm takling about. And helis, enjoy your earbuds dude. I've been wanting to log data on my jumps, but the audio feedback is a feature I'd only use initially for a while to hone my flying skills. Or maybe when jumping a new suit to get it dialed in. But for ongoing use, I'd prefer to log the data and have just the sound of the wind as I whisk through the sky!
  4. Ah, that's the difference. I have a helmet with dual audible slots on the OUTSIDE (NVertigo). So I just turn it on in the morning and forget about it. No pads to remove, etc. So the GPS would also be external. Whatever works for you. I just prefer to not have earbuds in, especially with the wire running out to the GPS. Nuf said, nice unit in any case. Thanks, Michael for developing it!
  5. Haha. No wires would need to go into the helmet (or ears). Just a short wire running outside the helmet, from the GPS to the ext ant. The piezo speaker of the GPS (if there was one) would sound through the helmet ports like the ProTrack does. I have enough crap to deal with on jump run (with ws, video, etc) and don't need to add donning ear buds to the list, plus having wires with some slack to snag. Or it might be simpler to mount the GPS on top, and run a wire to a single speaker at the audible port on the helmet. I think "noise cancelling earbuds" aren't really necessary, as it's not like it's music. Just need to hear the tones, like I already easily can from the audible.
  6. Good point. Then how about an external antenna connection that could route from the audible slot say to the top of the helmet? That way at least it would still be all self-contained on the helmet. Seems more appealing than having to do the ear bud thing, every time.
  7. Didn't see this asked yet, but what do you think about the unit having it's own piezo speaker like a ProTrack, so that ear buds are not needed? I have a helmet that accommodates two audibles, and this could occupy the second slot. I've been thinking about getting one of these, just not too keen on the ear buds and associated wiring. At least not for routine use (ie. grab your helmet and go).
  8. Anyone out there mount a gopro on a standard Nvertigo helmet? I was wondering how to deal with the ribs on that helmet, especially the center/top rib. I was hoping to stick mount bases centered front and rear, and be able to point either forward or backward. Don't want it to be off-center since then it would be tilted.
  9. So is the spam situation stalled? Haven't seen any more posts regarding further action by dropzone.com to improve the filtering. I'm getting close to abandoning my email address and moving on.
  10. I also sent my 99 FX in a few days ago. Sounds like you'll have yours back first so I'd love to hear what you think about it. I'll post my opinion after I get some jumps on it. The biggest thing I'm hoping for is better openings, as mine sucked before. Better performance will just be a bonus.
  11. Thanks for the replies. I guess I believe that the mod would be a good thing. I'm just trying to decide between getting the mod or just selling the canopy and adding about the cost of the mod toward getting a new canopy. Was considering downsizing anyway. Ah, but then what to get? VX? Velocity? Xaos?
  12. I tried that already and didn't come up with much. I searched for 'x-fx' and 'fx mod' and 'fx modification' and 'extreme modification'. Kinda gave up after that.
  13. Has anyone tried the X-FX modifications that Precision is offering for the Extreme FX? I have an FX99 that I'm considering having done.
  14. A DZ with great vibes, and where all the jumps are 'fun' jumps. Whether your just visiting or have been jumping there for years, you'll feel equally at home. A place where people purely jump only for the love of the sport and not for any financial gain.
