I just got a 3% raise, and that was at the top of the list. Based on the economy, I am happy for that. I've been here for 16 years, survived 2 rounds of layoffs in the past 2 years as 2 years with 0 increases. I LOVE what I am doing and hope to continue it for a while (until I hit the powerball, of course) and hope that the economy continues to improve so that those out of work can find meaningful employment. When I was getting certified for Scuba, on my open water dive, a bunch of my friends came along. My buddy wired the engagement ring into a shell and had it in the pocket of his BC. While i was off getting tested, the 2 of them were exploring the kelp beds, and he pulled it out of his pocket, got her attention, and opened it to show her the ring. Was very cool! Come upon this car and truck in the middle of the road. I thought maybe they were having car trouble. All of a sudden the truck backs up the road and into a driveway. The car, a Volvo, there was a lady driving it, peels out, does a 180 through the ditch, is squeeling her tires up the street, turns into the driveway and SMACK! right into the front of the truck. Then she is out of the car and runs up to the truck screaming at the people in it. It was a four door work truck with about four guys in it. I don't know where they were going to work on Easter Sunday and I did not hang around to find out. It looked to me to be about $7000-$8000 worth of damage to the Volvo. How cool!
