  7. I was wondering if they might pay a bounty to deliver him. I'd volunteer for that detail. I know, that's right! If, the price is right, I'd consider it. Chuck One of my peers in EMS class a year ago was an ex-Marine who works as a private security guard on temporary contract basis. He had recently received a call from a peer in Aspen looking for some additional guards for a celebrity visiting Aspen. When he learned the celeb was Bieber, he declined. Smart man! Ha, ha, ha... 9. Bieber won't go to Argentina. He's a little coward. We need a bounty hunter to sack his sorry ass up and deliver him to Argentina. That boy needs to face-up to his shit. Chuck
  10. They really pulled a rabbit outa their collective ass. The way March and April have gone, I really had my doubts. They did it! Last night was nerve wracking. Glad to hear Abdelkader is going to be back. He has turned into one helluva good player! He won't back down and stays full steam ahead. Go Wings! Chuck
  11. I don't see a problem with people or businesses who receive government money being held accountable for how they spend that money. Those receiving that money expects if not demands accountability and transparency of our government so why shouldn't they have to do the same thing. I really cannot accept the idea that it costs more to police recipients of government money, either. I think that is a cheap excuse to not have to do it. Chuck American International Group, AIG, is notable for having received taxpayer bailouts totaling $182 BILLION and in the fourth quarter of 2008 posted a loss of $61.7 BILLION, the greatest ever for any corporation and enough to bankrupt it. Essentially without the government welfare it had no assets. You may also recall that AIG paid out $170 MILLION in bonuses to its employees in March 2009 with its top executives receiving bonuses in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. No strings attached. They could by luxury cars, yachts, hookers, blow, whatever they wanted. Clearly one rule for rich people getting government handouts, and another for the poor. It's the same ol' deal... money talks and bull-shit walks! It's all in the politics... treat big business good and they'll give the politicians big money and votes. The poor don't have shit so why mess with them. Big, big double standard. Just follow the money. Chuck
  12. Lots and lots of disturbing behavior by LEO's, and it's been going on for a really long time. I don't understand the mentality...suspect running, gets down on the ground arm and legs out (obviously surrendering), now, let's beat the hell out of him...WTF? The part that gets me about the guy who was shot in the back and killed by that cop is, there was no justifiable reason for it. If the cop couldn't out-run the guy and couldn't taze him... let him go! The guy's fingerprints were probably all over that Mercedez, if the cops didn't mess them up. The guy never showed a weapon of any kind, he just ran. If the work is done correctly and diligently, the cops would've gotten him at a later date. To me, it was out and out murder. Chuck That "warrior mentality" precludes that....... Ruby Ridge.....Waco.....and hundreds of others, all need not have occurred... there is a warrant.... great.... use some grey matter and be smarter in making the arrest at a better time and place I was always told the police were smarter than the bad guys. I have a few questions on that topic! Chuck

  14. There are many factors I guess, we (the old salts) have been talking about this a lot recently. We are getting better educated recruits, but not so street savvy ones. We have also seen a trend of the academy being very hesitant to fail recruits, for a number of reasons. The main two being money and potential legal issues. Makes no sense to us, but we have seen it happen. We also discussed the current benefit/retirement changes in many states. Departments are starting to lose people because in some places there is no longer a defined benefit plan. There is no carrot at the end to get good people to stay. I was one of those people, I kind of fell into police work. I knew if I stayed and put up with all the bullshit there was a benefit at the end of the tunnel. It was a factor in why I chose what I did, I had many other options. Now some good people stay a few years to pad their resume or they are involved in a critical incident and just say "fuck it, I don't need or can't deal with this shit anymore" and leave, there is no incentive to stay. There are good paying jobs (not necessarily in safety/security) in the private sector where police experience is beneficial and even sought after. If I had the answer I'd be a rich guy, these things have been cyclical throughout my career. I've been through several, this will pass but it is no less painful than the previous ones. What we do is honorable, there is no honor in these two latest instances. IMHO I fully understand what you said. I think, a lot of people go into law enforcement with visions of grandeur. Like you said, they lack 'street smarts' and you don't learn that at the academy. You learn it by 'living' it. There is a lot of pressure from the public to be protected and this seems to put police agencies in the position to sometimes take what they can get. A lot of pressure is like you said too, the possibility of law suits. It's not an easy career choice and some less qualified people are going to fall through the cracks. The most recent incident points that out. Anyone with any common sense would know better than to shoot an un-armed person, running away. There was enough evidence to find-out who the guy was and get him later. Just a sad deal that should not have happened. Chuck

They probably didn't realize that horse theft is a hangin' offense. Seriously, I believe that due to the fact that many cities are experiencing a shortage of police officers and the result is too many 'loose cannons' are being trained and sworn-in. I recently heard that some state trooper academies are being shortened so as to get more applicants. Right there is a problem. Bottom line, it appears to be difficult getting good police officers and the departments are 'adjusting' for that and taking their chances. Chuck
  17. I saw that on the news this morning and my wife, who is retired from law enforcement was thoroughly disgusted with the deputies actions. I agree, there is no excuse for what they did. We're trying to figure out the increase in law enforcement actions anymore. Is it lack of training? Badge heavy? Beating suspects for no good reason, shooting suspects in the back while they run away? What the hell! Chuck
  18. Does anyone else find it strange that her sex life was discussed in the meeting? Doubt the doctors brought it up.[/quote I doubt they did too. I guess, the kids still fee the idea of their mom having sex is yucky. Good Lord! Chuck As I wrote previously, my wife is a geriatrician and she says adult children DO have this idea that their parents should be asexual. My wife also says that the elderly and even Alzheimers are frequently still very interested in sex, despite what their children may think. I had a doctor tell me once that the human 'sex drive' is the last thing to go. Chuck

  20. A fascinating question. I've never had occasion to think about it in just that factual form before. Personally, I'll still need to ponder it. Well, when the doctors already inform you that she can't consent to sex, it's probably a good idea to keep your 80-year-old dick in your pants... ...but no, this guy just stops by for quickie, closes the curtain and bangs his wife out with another patient in the room and then just takes off after only visiting for 30 minutes - what a creep... I don't blame her daughters one bit... He banged her for 30-minutes? Damn! Chuck I'm starting to feel a bit uncomfortable with my description... Suffice it to say that if I thought there was a possibility of the family reading these posts, I probably would've been a bit more sensitive in my phrasing... The way you worded it just struck me as being funny. I'm not very 'PC', anyhow. Chuck

  22. You sure about that? These days, most states use debit cards for their SNAP benefits programs, meaning there's no paper stamps, thus no cash "change". From a quick Google search, it appears that Texas is one of them? Clarify? True. The SNAP cards have replaced the paper. I was pointing-out something I've seen in the past as an example of how things can be gotten around and there is always someone who will find a way around the 'system'. It appears that wasn't a good example. Chuck As much as I believe in personal responsibility and wish we did not need these programs.... that is pie in the sky. I would rather feed and make sure the brats those people are having are at least fed and educated so that next generation has a chance to succeed in our country. Having to live with just more and more under-nourished people whose brains will never develop beyond the level of ignorant idiot... is not something we as a nation need to strive for. On the flip side.... paying hundreds of millionaires.... BILLIONS of dollars to not grow food is just GFS. I do believe farm subsidies were originally designed for small family farms. Those days in the farm subsidy programs are long gone.... now it is just corporate welfare for the rich and powerful. The program needs to be euthanizedt like the deformed offspring it has become. As a rancher you know what I am talking about. I understand what you are saying and I agree with you. I believe these programs definitely need some serious work done to them. Whatever is needed to clean it up. The mega-Ag business has taken-over and is squeezing-out the family farms and ranches. They have used the system to make themselves obscenely rich and the politicians are helping them every way they can. I wholeheartedly agree with you in regard to seeing to it the poor kids get taken care of. They didn't ask to be brought into this world as a means of profit for their parents or for any other reason but they do deserve a chance. The present system stinks! Also, I don't like the new farm bill. There are too many flaws in it and the usual loopholes. Chuck

  24. Socialist farmers? You lost me with that one. You do like to eat... don't you? Chuck You are aware of how messed up the farm subsidy program is, right? This is the New York Times. "Liberal Press" to be sure, but respected journalism. Search "Farm subsidy abuse" and you'll find a ton of information. Some from good sources, some from questionable ones. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/20/business/richer-farmers-bigger-subsidies.html?_r=0 Thank you for that! Now, I understand why farmers really wanted the new 'Farm Bill'. Enlightening! Chuck
