  1. I was shocked much more by fact that your chain of events (faults) didnt lead to an accident. Some very serious bad habits you have there or lack of knowledge. I dont mean to burn you, but seriously, some of the things in your movie were potentially lethal. As a novice jumper what could I learn not to do by watching this video?
  2. My backup plan will most likely be something close to carrying around a popped reserve and looking like an idiot... You think the airlines would let me carry on an aviator's kit bag? I can easily scrounge up one of those.
  3. Haha one thing I can thank my Army SL training for. I havn't had to do one yet but my buddy's first jump he flared a good 10 feet too high and didn't even have a second thought...straight into the most beautiful PLF that DZ had ever seen. Got up, bowed, and hasn't made the same mistake again haha.
  4. How'd you manage breaking yourself if you don't mind me asking.
  5. Where did you find that? Had a quick chat with my dad (40+ years/45,000+ hours career pilot) about maybe jumping out of his Maule M7. He was saying something about getting it inspected but I think what the last guy said about it only being neccasary when the door isn't made to come off is right. You can take the rear door and all but the PIC seat out of the M7 easily so it shouldn't be a problem.
  6. Does anyone here know how to get a hold of Don Carrington? He took some shots and video of some stuff out there that I was hoping to get from him.
  7. Yea NOTAM is a good idea and usually the aircraft has to be inspected and signed off as "jumpable". And on a pilot note its always fun to hear over the local UNICOM: "Be advised, humans decending from one four thousand feet, over."
  8. Because they are all wrong and have no idea what they are talking about... Honestly I don't have a bag that would fit the rig right now and just don't want to buy one. Its not about being the cool guy or anything...I just don't want to buy another bag haha.
  9. Actually it's "The Gods Must Be Crazy". A very funny and creative movie. ltdiver Ah yea thats it. Great movie and is very reminiscent of this thread haha.
  10. Those pictures are hilarious. All these people so intently focused on a tennis ball flying towards the earth haha. And for some reason all I can think about in this thread is that guy dropping the coke bottle from the little Cessna in "The gods must be mad".
  11. Well usually its easy. Is it fun? Yea. Can I get hurt doing it? Probably. Am I ok with the danger? Of course. That's about it. But something like a lead tennis ball coming down would risk other people and there's no question on that. One thing if it risks my own dumbass but another if it risks other people haha.
  12. Yea I figured they were filled with something to get them going faster but that's pretty interesting/smart that you need a special license. Why is all the really fun stuff the most dangerous?
  13. Haha. Yea sure...and then lose that little bastard and kill something haha.
  14. I've seen pictures of people jumping with tennis balls with streamers on them...whats the deal? I'm assuming its just for a point of referance when you're not jumping with somebody? Seems like it could be really useful.
  15. Ya I mean I'm not an experienced skydiver by any means but I don't think I want my rig out of my hands where people can mess with it. I would rather cover the rig up but I've got a ton of parachute. Combined main and reserve its about 420 square feet so I don't know what the thing will fit in and it just seems easier to have it alone so you don't have to fuss with pulling it out every time a TSA dude gets curious.
  16. Haha at both replies. Thats right...who were you then?
  17. Were you the crazy russian guy showing all the weird cartoons on the side of the hangar?
  18. Hahahah "its optional" Excellent.
  19. Haha ya your main looked like a T10 round where it just goes straight down and then kinda jerks and deflates on top of you. Glad ya didn't hurt anything.
  20. Thanks for bringing that sweet 182. That was a fun jump.
  21. I'm all done there unfortunatly but it was a great time. We even made it into the local paper. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v437/I3uller/SS100731.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v437/I3uller/SS100741.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v437/I3uller/SS100751.jpg
  22. I knew a guy that asked his first line NCO's if he could skydive and he was told that he couldn't. Oh yea and we are both in the 82nd Airborne Division on active jump status. I know there are set rules in Division like you have to jump with an AAD etc. but his chain of command just went with ignorance and told him no.
  23. Wear the rig and check the rest!!! Sounds good to me. I almost want to just carry the rig on my back like I'm going to jump just to see the weird looks I get haha.
  24. This sounds like an endless summer for skydiving haha.
  25. I am going to be doing this soon and I don't think that my rig, altimeter, suit, and helmet will all fit into a gear bag thats carry on sized. I really don't want to check it but I don't see any other way to do it.
