  1. Well, there's no sense in me complaining if you all are happy paying extra for it. I guess the extra dough will come out of your beer money.
  2. Hate to disappoint you dude. The rush of skydiving doesn't last much beyond 40 jumps. Keep your boring day job so you can finance the next big hobby that comes along in your life.
  3. But it's the same exact job. How much of an increase is it? Isn't there anyone at your DZ that will do it for the same price?
  4. I’m interested to know if the riggers at your dropzone have threatened to raise their price on reserve repacks when the 180 day repack cycle goes into effect. Have they began whining about what an unfair financial blow this is, that they can no longer charge you 3 times per year anymore. Have they moaned about how this will be a crushing financial blow that will put them out of business? BOO HOO! Just curious.
  5. OK, I'm infatuated with a new girl http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Udru3Nzd4I&fmt=18 Oh Christy! Don't change a bit!
  6. I can only speak for Los Angeles, but I can tell you it's expensive to rent out here. You don't get a lot of value for your dollar. Expect to pay at least $1,200/month for a mediocre 1-bed in an average part of town. As far as SoCal, I would say it's a lot more fun to visit than live here. The middle class lives 90 minutes outside of the city. Places like Ventura County, Orange County, Palmdale & Riverside/Inland Empire. That leaves Los Angeles for the wealthy and poor alike, making it feel a bit like a third world country. If you can't afford to live in the hills or near the beach, you are left with the rest of Los Angeles which is nothing but an overcrowded smog infused concrete death maze.
  7. You are being screwed. Trust me. I’ve been in similar situations. The problem is, you can’t really do that much about it except quit. It is his company and his client that you have been assigned to work with. He has a right to find someone cheaper or someone he perceives as being better for the job. Don’t like it? Get angry. Angry enough to start your own company, accept all debts, liabilities and be able to get your own clients and pretty soon, you too can be as selfish and 2-faced as your employer. Don’t take it personally. It’s all part of our wonderful free-market society.
  8. I guess that's the duality of man. Sorry DUDE
  9. I’ve just been reading through this thread and I would like to take a second to thank Copycat for going public with this situation. It took a lot of courage to call this guy out on his scam. I truly believe that when a person crosses the line by stealing or conning you out of your hard earned money, you have a moral obligation to warn others. The bottom line is that a person knowingly and wrongfully defrauded you. They forfeit any right to privacy pertaining to the details of their crime. If this guy wants to sue for slander, let ‘em. You told the truth. My understanding is that as long as you are truthful in your claim, you cannot be held liable for defamation. You did everything in your power to check the background of this guy. You can only do so much. Sending your gear to his rigger is no guarantee of a safe transaction either. There is always a risk of getting ripped off, even by people close to you. Sorry this happened to you. Good luck!
  10. My GOD! This is what I mean when I say that skydivers have succumb to conformity. 13.5 million views can't be wrong. WOMANIZER WOMANIZER WOMANIZER YAH!
  11. I think that qualifies you as a homosexual.

  13. I think the biggest problem is simple... Skydiving just isn't very cool anymore. It doesn't have that same rebel stigma it once had. The sport has fallen into conformity like so many other trendy past times. The "extreme sport” genre is gone just like Tony Hawk making skateboarding so accessible that every fat kid on the block has a half pipe in his driveway.
  14. The promo video is a neat little add-on to any Tandem video but lets face it... the average Tandem student is a 45 year old house mom who is about 50 pounds too heavy to wear a sport harness.
  15. With the bad economy and dropzones facing foreclosure, I’m betting we will see lots more “mysterious” fires.
  16. WHAT AN UNBELIEVABLY IGNORANT COMMENT. I was trying to teach this guy some humility and some respect for the consequences when you take other peoples problems into your own hands. Attention moderators: I’m sure you’re going to delete this posting so I’d like to give you all a big hug in advance for trashing my post. Thank you for doing such a great job.
  17. Maybe you should have used that settlement money to get some health insurance?? Seriously, I hope you learned something from your brush with death. You need to stay out of other people’s conflicts. I read all about what happened to you a while back. You basically got stabbed because you didn’t like the way SalsaJohn was treating a women in a bar. Did that women ever thank you for defending her honor?
  18. Skydiving’s pretty much dead and gone for me and many of my friends. I wouldn’t go back for any reason. It’s not the economy. The sport is not mature enough for so many reasons. 1)Many DZ’s are disgusting places. I wouldn’t let my dog hang around this filthy atmosphere. 2)The whole ordeal gets kinda boring after as few as 50 jumps. 3)Many skydivers exude passive-aggressive tendencies toward each other. There is a lot of politics and high school drama queens. 4)It is a very dangerous sport that doesn’t really give much in return for the risk involved. Maybe in 30 or 40 years, the sport will make a come-back but for now, it’s as outdated as disco music.
  19. God! He looks like Leonardo DiCaprio! GROSS
  20. Perris & Elsinore are looking pretty shabby these days. Peeling paint, old facilities. These places look virtually deserted. There was so much more life at these dropzones 5 years ago, things are totally different. Cal City was a great facility but very few people jumped there, so they pulled the plug. I don’t know how things are in Texas but here in SoCal, it really is in a dying state.
  21. It just seems like the sport as a whole is in a dying state. SoCal used to have a great skydiving scene with lots of dropzones. Between the poorly maintained aircraft, fugly looking dropzones and weekly fatalities, I just don’t see this sport as fully matured yet. It’s too bad. You see entire resorts built around golf & skiing but there just isn’t any money being made from skydiving.
  22. Rule #19. Don't discuss that you are a Leykis listener and follow his rules. * Many women think Tom is a pig and won't bang just because.
