  1. Your response doesn't make sense. You as the author are not doing a very good job conveying your message. It's being distorted by your redefining the word literal which is confusing and obscuring your intent to the point where I and I am sure others have no idea what you are trying to say with the word literal.

If you want people to "derive what the author intended to convey" then you should use words as they are defined.

BTW, how am I distorting what you wrote? I can't edit it. I didn't change anything that you wrote. I am just pointing out you contradictions in the use of the word literal.

  2. Quote

I'm just describing the grammatical-historical method of interpretation which is how even the Early Church Fathers interpreted Scripture. Somewhat different than the way you'd treat the Odyssey, I think (as you and most others would describe it; including me). There's also a whole lot more support for the biblical account making its comparison with the Odyssey kind of ridiculous.

You still didn't use the word literal correctly no matter how you rationalize it. Redefining words only makes you look ignorant.

  3. “Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.” ~ Marcus Aurelius

  4. No, nothing special really. Most of the high dollar video cards are for gaming or CAD use.

The only issue you might have is with cheap generic cards causing your computer to crash. A friend of mine bought a really cheap video card that did that.

  5. SSDs are not a must have, but they are much faster then HDDs. The increased speed is useful for running the OS and your main applications. For storage I would use HDDs.

I wouldn't worry too much about the video card. Just don't get a cheap off brand card and you will be fine. You don't need a high end gaming video card.

  6. While I have never had any major injury skydiving, this question got me thinking of what would be the best advice I could give to a new skydiver.

Don't get in a big hurry to learn everything. Take your time and ask your instructors lots of questions. I think learning CRW and focusing on canopy control would be a great idea. Being able to handle close proximity to others under canopy is a very useful skill.

  7. You have to admit it's highly unlikely that a pilot would not give instructions during the flight from 9,000 feet to 3,000. That's a lot of time.

I partly getting this from your reaction to the MI incident. It appears that you think it was ok for the people that jumped with out waiting for the pilot to give instructions.
