I wasn't before this but I am now a member of the NRA and they did send out an email with a link to a video of Wayne LaPierre's very public speech, but it's no more then we see in the news. Also some other emails asking for donations to fight the upcoming proposed bill by Dianne Feinstein. It's nothing special or arm bending.

Considering what the President has said it's not unreasonable to consider that a ban on high capacity magazines is likely. That is what is driving the crazy buying of magazines and guns. People are not going to wait for the Government to pass legislation before reacting. I don't think they are going to be able to pass much any time soon. But they will try and people do react. It's not due to anything the NRA has said or done, it's the politicians wanting to ban these things that are causing this uproar. The NRA couldn't do this by themselves and they are certainly not going to cooperate with people Dianne Feinstein or Obama to create this buying spree.

I am originally from Illinois so going to the Blackhawks and Stars game was intentional. It was a great game. Good overtime win for the Blackhawks. I was surprised at the number of Blackhawk fans in attendance.

Nope. Exactly the same thing. I think you just don't like being compared collectors of toys intended for children. I get that, but it's still exactly the same thing. I don't have a bunch of 30 round magazines. And no your comparison is not accurate. There is reason to believe that 30 round magazines will be banned. I hope they aren't and that no new bans on anything relating to guns are passed. Beanie Babies were collected for no good reason. There is a reason to buy up 30 round magazines because there are people in the government that want to and are trying to ban them.

How do you think they would modify magazines that would allow them to still hold 30 rounds and yet conform to a high capacity magazine ban?? Your comparison to Beenie Babies is still wrong.

Please provide a bill number. Are you saying there is no Dianne Feinstein bill in the works? Or that the President is lying when he says he supports a ban on high capacity magazines? Your comparison to Beenie Babies is not accurate. There are reasons for people to be worried about a possible ban and those reasons have been articulated by our president.

30 round magazines are the Beenie Babies of 2013. So the Government considered banning Beanie Babies too?? The only reason 30 round magazines are going up in price is because of the proposed legislation banning them. Otherwise they would be cheap.

It shows that the sanctions are not holding the Iranian Government back all that much.

I don't think that is a good reason for the Government to get involved and basically do price regulation.

If I remember right, Standard Oil never raised prices and instead kept prices low to keep competitors at bay. I don't see how that would be a bad thing for consumers. Quite often I prefer to ask questions so I have clear picture of what someone else thinks. It's not a good idea to just assume you understand their view point.
