  1. Hi all! I'll be running several Regional CP Judge Rating courses again this year. (see below for dates) You get the best seats in the house and a great way to learn all the rules of CP. The course is free; you just need to work to earn the rating. No experience is necessary, only a willingness to learn. Non-skydivers are welcome as well. If you're interested pm me here or email me at [email protected]. And for the competitors, please remember that these regional meets can’t happen without been staffed by judges and course changers. If you know someone who is at every swoop comp, please encourage them to come out and judge. Competitors are also very welcome to come to the rules portion of the course and get a more detailed look at the rules. I use video examples in my courses so you can see what the judges see while we're on the course. If you're interested pm me here or email me at [email protected]. 5. one of these days................................ POW! Right in the kisser! PIE! Right in the kisser! I came back to dz.com JUST to say suck it ski! AND I can't wait for Fitz. Super bummed to have missed last year. WONT miss this year. I have plans
  6. I recently completed a sale for a Cypres I had placed in the classifieds. Since I've sold it, I was going to take down my ad for it. But the "my ads" link doesn't work. I get a page that says: And just going straight to the ad doesn't work either. Not a big deal for me, but thought I'd let the powers that be know.
  7. It’s that time of year again! Swoop season is here and it’s jam packed full of regional competitions, especially in the US. What we really need to make this successful is more CP judges to support this awesome growth in regional competitions. CP is the most judge intensive competition in skydiving and one of the most fun to judge (though that may be more personal opinion). For anyone interested in learning to judge CP, I’ll be doing FREE training at every FLCPA meet and at the first NECPL meet. We’ll cover the basics of judging and course set up for each discipline. (Just a quick overview of my qualifications for those of you who may not know me, I have been judging CP since 2010, have my FAI rating in CP judging, was technical director for last year’s US CP Nationals, and chief judge for this year’s US CP Nationals.) If you’re interested please send me a PM or email me at [email protected]. We’d love to have you! And for the competitors, please remember that these regional meets can’t happen without been staffed by judges and course changers. If you know someone who is at every swoop comp, please encourage them to come out and judge. You get the best seats in the house if you’re helping at the events!
  8. I'll be coming up for the first meet of the season to train new judges in that region. If anyone up there has been interested in CP judging but hasn't been able to come down south to learn, contact me! We'd love to get you involved!! My email is [email protected]. Blue skies!
  9. They already found it. Cardboard boxes
  10. A friend of mine asked me for some help understanding the diagrams to setting up a curved speed course. I broke it down into all straight lines and made a color coded diagram. I thought I'd share it here in case anybody else might like it. If all of your straight lines as shown here are correct, your arc will be correct. It's shown as having the same entry gate as a straight course & a right hand carve just as an example. But the measurements wouldn't change even if you changed those factors. blues!
  11. Have you ever played pony or porn star? The game is HILARIOUS! You get a list of names and have to guess whether it is a My Little Pony name or a Porn Star name.
  12. I work in the non-jumping industry side of skydiving. I do office work for Flight-1. My job rocks! I get to work on a DZ all day but still have work when the weather is crap. I have a degree in Biology but never really wanted to use it. So it just kinda sits there & occasionally makes me seem smart. I also am working on my application to become a trophy wife. Though I haven't found where to submit that yet...
  13. Actually I read the whole thing & thought it was funny. Thanks for the giggle boys I vote let it free! It's not naked if you're covered
  14. Personally, I recommend going where ever will be your home. It will make meeting people & making long time friends easier. But if you want to do it in FL still, either DZ is great. They have both been home to me, and I love both. Personally if I'm coming down for a fun trip though, I'd go Zhills. It has more non-DZ stuff to do and people stick around the bar later. Deland is still fun though, and there's always someone to hang out with. AFF wise, I didn't go through either program, but know instructors in each. I'd go through either of them myself.
  15. It's Florida. All of them I'd say for a good mix of spring break & skydiving goodness, go with Skydive City or Deland. Deland is closer to better beaches (I prefer East coast beaches & it's near Daytona & not too far from Cocoa) but Skydive City is closer to better clubs. Ybor is great at night. Sebastian should also be thrown out there. It's the closest to the beach, but it's a bit more of a low key beach imo. But they throw great parties themselves, you don't even have to leave the DZ for a spring break feel.
  16. Uh no. Jesus did it way before him. And he didn't even need the bulls.
  17. Well they weren't quite underoos but I had this amazing pair of underwear that looked like a Nintendo controller. I lost them at some point but it was awesome! If I had to pick underoos I'd go Green Lantern or Ninja Turtles. And I'd totally be fine of pics of me in them.
  18. While that was awesome... I'm REALLY disturbed by #8

  20. Cool I get to learn something. Is it 5 sig figs as the .000 shows acurracy to onethousandths? it shows precision not accuracy. (they are different) but yes b/c it shows to the thousandths place
  21. I've also seen it where if you don't have the decimal and you want to show that it is 5 sig figs then you draw a bar over it. Then again, I've never seen that done in practice. At any rate I would prefer to write it as 5.2000 x 10^4. A lot less ambiguous. I only see the bar in text books I agree with the scientific notation method being better.
  22. It depends on the precision of the 52000. it can have 2, 3, 4, or 5 significant figures. For instance if it is EXACTLY 52000 it is 5 sig figs. but if it is only precise to the 10's place it has 4 sig figs. you are correct on the 52.000 having 5 sig figs. make sense?
