  1. That is horrible news. so sorry to hear that. my prayers go out to your family. -Kevin
  2. Well, quick summary, I had a blast. Roy was my classroom instructor and i jumped with Carrie and Rob. Both of them were Awesome, Carrie helped at the tunnel as well, Hand signals fucked me up some in the tunnel and on the jump seeing i was more concerned with running out of time then actually stopping and thinking exactly what they meant. (tandem jumps weren't a mistake, but from what i can tell it sorta trained some bad habits on exit and as far as the arch goes) altho once i got going i think it went okay. I definatly want some more tunnel time, and $$$ permitting ill probley go try to get some the day off the next jumps. Landing i thought was decent, tony had me stray off the landing pattern on the X-wind section some because myself and another AFF student were relatively close to each other in the pattern. but either way i waited to flare until he said too and landed it standing up. I liked how when we de-briefed the jump they actually told you what you did wrong instead of just the "great jump and good job" Either way Roy was great in the classroom and Carrie and Rob were awesome on the jump. (Carrie at the tunnel as well) I cant wait to go back. Sucks that it was a slow week at work, (and that there P-I-S-S-E-D that i played hookie today to go jump :D) -Kevin
  3. Details? Turbo? haha. Im a car person migrating to this side of things, and as far as i can tell it can be equally expensive. haha (explanation of my user name) Well its starting out good so far, Good to see people online here and at the DZ. As far as making the instructor look good ill do my best, haha. As i said i have 2 tandems. My first jump was routine (jump and enjoy,) except i was near about hurting myself trying to arch hard. (we jumped out of a casa and i was taller then my TI, so i was already hurting a little from squating and head back) After we landed from my first jump my TI told me that i had a good arch, but he said it appeared like i was straining. He then told me that its hard to portray on the ground, but to just relax and just let the wind take you. i assumed it was easier said then done, but after i went up my next time (Randy was my TI) we jumped a King Air which i liked alot because it climbed 10000 times as fast as the Casa. I didn't know how i would like the side door, but it wasn't bad at all and actually made the tandem exit easier. Only Crappy part of the whole day was the jet fuel high we got after they started the King air, haha... a good 3-4 minutes of just plain breathing fuel. Anywho as i was saying my 2nd jump wasn't flawless by any means, but i did just somewhat relax after we got out of the plane and we leveled right out, kinda like one of those "oh, thats how this works" moments. but i thought it went pretty well, had good turns, and my biggest worry was finding the handle on my first reach. But after i did it probley 100 times after we were hooked up in the plane, i found the handle on the first reach when it came time to pull. :D and then we landed dead center with some moderate wind. (i did get my shoes full of gravel, haha) Either way im excited as hell and ready to go! any advise is welcome and thanks for the warm welcome! -Kevin Forgive me if i didn't use correct terminology in my jump summary haha. im learning tho
  4. As it says, ill be leaving the house in T-minus 12 hours or so. Cant wait. Im even playing hookie from work tomorrow. haha. Ive got 2 tandem jumps from CSS in louisburg, but they offer no AFF program, and im ready to get on with it. I had a great time at CSS, great place and people, but i drove down to Raeford and just watched for an afternoon about 2 weeks ago. Hell, the people from CSS even refured me to Raeford saying "they dont have enough instructors to do the AFF". Either way. Im not taking anything away from CSS, i had a GREAT time there, everything went great, im just ready to get going on AFF. Any who... just Excited and ready to go!!! Anyone from here going to be around there? if so ill more then likely be wearing some Camo shorts and a Black t-shirt. My names Kevin, so come find me and say whats up. im all about meeting new people. -Kevin
  5. Strange and out there, but i found it pretty funny A monkey is sitting in a tree smoking a joint when a lizard walks past and looks up and says to the monkey: "Hey! What are you doing?" The monkey says: "smoking a joint, come up and have some." So the lizard climbs up and sits next to the monkey and they share a few puffs. After a while the lizard says his mouth is 'dry' and is going to get a drink from the river. The lizard is so stoned that he leans too far over and falls into the river. A Crocodile sees this and swims over to the lizard and helps him to the side, then asks the lizard: "What's the matter with you?" The lizard explains to the crocodile that he was sitting smoking a joint with the monkey in the tree, got too stoned and then fell into the river while taking a drink. The crocodile says he has to check this out and walks into the jungle, finds the tree were the monkey is sitting, finishing a joint. The Crocodile looks up and says "Hey!" The Monkey looks down and says.... "Fuuuuuuuuck..... Duuuuuuude.....how much water did you drink?!!"
  6. Reminded me of another one A boy walks in on his parents having sex. His father sees him and tries to get off but its to late. The boy quickly yells "Horsey!!!!" then promptly asks his father if he can ride too. The father trying to avoid more questions sighs and says "sure" The young boy then climbs on the fathers back" So they continue on for a good while, Then the mother starts to moan and groan, the boy taps his father on the shoulder and says "hold on tight daddy, this is the part where me and the mailman usually get bucked off!"
  7. Boy anticipates sex with girlfriend Since this is such a big event, the girl announces to her boyfriend that after dinner, she would like to go out and make love for the first time. Well, the boy is ecstatic, but he has never had sex before, so he takes a trip to the pharmacist to get some condoms. The pharmacist helps the boy for about an hour. He tells the boy everything there is to know about condoms and sex. At the register, the pharmacist asks the boy how many condoms he'd like to buy, a 3-pack, 10-pack, or family pack. The boy insists on the family pack because he thinks he will be rather busy, it being his first time and all. That night, the boy shows up at the girl's parents house and meets his girlfriend at the door. "Oh, I'm so excited for you to meet my parents, come on in!" The boy goes inside and is taken to the dinner table where the girl's parents are seated. The boy quickly offers to say grace and bows his head. A minute passes, and the boy is still deep in prayer, with his head down. 10 minutes pass, and still no movement from the boy. Finally, after 20 minutes with his head down, the girlfriend leans over and whispers to the boyfriend, "I had no idea you were this religious." The boy turns, and whispers back, "I had no idea your father was a pharmacist."
  8. While she was 'flying' down the road yesterday, a woman passed over a bridge only to find a cop with a radar gun on the other side lying in wait. The cop pulled her over, walked up to the car, with that classic patronizing smirk we all know and love, asked, 'What's your hurry?' To which she replied, 'I'm late for work.' 'Oh yeah,' said the cop, 'what do you do?' I'm a rectum stretcher,' she responded. The cop stammered, 'A what? A rectum stretcher? And just what does a rectum stretcher do?' 'Well,' she said, 'I start by inserting one finger, then work my way up to two fingers, then three, then four, then with my whole hand in. I work from side to side until I can get both hands in, and then I slowly but surely stretch it, until it's about 6 feet wide.' 'And just what the hell do you do with a 6 foot asshole?' he asked. 'You give him a radar gun and park his ass behind a bridge...' Traffic Ticket - $95.00 Court Costs - $45.00 Look on the Cop's Face...............PRICELESS
  9. I called 911 once trying to order a pizza. I was hammered drunk with some freinds, (and still remember little to none of this) but my area code is 919, and im in the habit of dialing 919-xxx-xxxx for everything, well... somehow i misfired on the keypad, and the pizza never showed... but the wake county sheriffs dept. seeing who was Prank calling there 911 dispachers. "opps" They let us go and told us to goto bed :D
  10. Hahahahaha. laughed out loud at that one
  11. Our Sheltie daisy is very similar, she has cancer in her leg and she is to old to risk operating. Shes got doggie pain killers, so shes on cloud nine all day and appears to be in no pain at all, but as the weeks go by shes starting to get weaker and weaker. (having trouble going up stairs, getting up after laying down a while, ect...) The vet tells us that we will know when she starts to be in pain, and also assures us that shes in none right now. Either way it sucks and i feel your pain. I wish you the best of luck bud -Kevin
  12. In my opinion its a toss up. I agree with the "dont get a useless degree" part. but myself personally. i Never went to a college. i went to a technical school (automotive) and really all that did for me was put my foot in the door and give me a piece of paperwork that shows that i have been educated after high school. while going to the school was helpful, anyone could graduate. (seriously) all you had to do was show up and put forth 10% effort. there was no homework, or projects. just classroom and shop time. I think i have close to 60 credit hours worth of time from there, and some of it is transferable, (if i were to pursue something else later on in life) but the only real thing that made me stand out was the fact that after graduating i went through a manufactures training program. While i completed the manufactures (Nissan/Infiniti) program, i just used it to further my education, and then yet another piece of paper. Especially considering the fact that i didnt even goto work for Nissan. To further the arguement, I started working at an Acura dealership right out of school a little over a year ago making around 30K a year. I learned, went to school through Acura/Honda, and now im on track to make $60,000+ a year. I'm only 21, (just turned 21 in july) and most of my classmates from high school are still in college. and others that were a few years older then me have just gotten out of school and are starting out around 30-40K a year at a desk job, with thousands of dollars in student loans. Granted, Working on cars is not for everyone, it definatly takes alot of time and money to get into it. (tools suck). so after all that yakking about me, i think that college is a great thing, but as others said, don't get a useless degree.

  15. I just searched this real quick but didn't see anything specifically on it. I know im new, but im a member/moderator of several other message boards. i know for ones on the larger scale (national/global level) there are regional sections. Ive just browsed through the events and places to jump section and even after searching it was still difficult to sift through it all. Im also new here, and im looking for more people in my area. I know (as a moderator/admin) on other sites that 1000 sections is a PITA, but maybe in the jump section have some sub-forums for different regions. (IE: west, northwest, south, southwest, southeast, ect...) having 10 or so of those sections in there own "Area" seems like it would help people to communicate better and realize that there are many people on dropzone.com near them. Just an idea... not trying to stir the pot up on my 2nd post im just reading and catching up at the moment. Id be more then happy to "Create" an example if someone in the position of making it happen would like me too. just send me a PM or email. Thanks again! -Kevin PS: Here is an example of what im talking about. its a Car based site, so please read no further then the link, (your head will start to hurt. haha) but this is somewhat the layout im talking about http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/regional-dsm-clubs/
