  7. Congratulations! That's awesome! Your excitement is coming through on your post. Blue skies - Karen PS - When I got up this morning I didn't feel well enough to go do my 2 last tandem jumps this morning - good thing I didn't make the drive to the DZ - bad weather (lightning storms and tornado warnings all day) was sure to rule the day. There's always next weekend. Always be kinder than you feel.
  8. I'm also there. I need a life. Always be kinder than you feel.
  9. I think one of those whuffo neighbors is either a Monroe or Washington Township police officer? If they messed with his/her house, fuck that, all bets are probably off when it comes to future ball busting. Always be kinder than you feel.
  10. I was there all day for ground school instructed by Dan. It was busy as shit, IMO. I heard someone say 180 tandems yesterday? Could that be right? I think I had a dream with someone saying all night "meet your tandem instructor on the smiley face in front of the hangar". Always be kinder than you feel.
  11. I backed out of at least 1 possibly 2 tandem jumps (no ball busting please) late yesterday afternoon because I was friggin' fried mentally and wiped out physically, and little sore after ground school for about 4 hours before. Once I sat on the sofa in the hangar to wait I totally hit a wall and felt myself fading so I went to manifest and rescheduled both jumps for this morning. Maybe I should've grabbed a Red Bull or something? So, I wake up this morning and feel like total shit so I call and reschedule for next Saturday. I feel like such a loser but I can't concentrate when I feel like dirt. And I want/need to get these 2 tandems out of the way so I can jump with a coach. Please tell me I did the right thing by staying home? Always be kinder than you feel.
  12. That's the first thing I thought of. Let's see if this winds up in Saw 4! Always be kinder than you feel.
  13. The only thing I can add is I'm never getting married again. NEVER. EVER. And if anyone ever hears me waxing poetic to the contrary, PLEASE, I'm a freaking idiot and should be hit on the head with a brick to knock the sense back into me. Always be kinder than you feel.
  14. Thanks! I lvove to watch them, too! I've never watched so much on You Tube since that tandem. LOL. Always be kinder than you feel.

  21. Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I guess once I get into the groove of going and hanging out for the training I'll be fine. I did check out the video link you posted - that was awesome!!! Always be kinder than you feel.
  22. Hi everyone! I just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. My name is Karen and I’ve been lurking about a month. I did a tandem jump on July 4, 2008 at Cross Keys with Sebastien. It was freakin’ amazing!!! I must’ve watched the video (shot by the video dude Matt) about 1,000 times already (plus everyone wanting to see it). They were both really professional, funny and I felt totally comfortable with the entire process – from the quick instruction session – to that long wait to altitude – to that first feeling of the rushing air on my face and body – there’s nothing else like it! After my boss watched the video he said you didn’t look nervous, you looked like you were going for groceries! My only response was I’ve wanted to do this for soooo long, and to finally have it in the palm of my hand, I was happy! I loved it so much that I’m going this Saturday to sign up for the AFF course because I can’t get the wonderful feeling and memory of that day out of my mind! Talk about liberating! Wow!!! It was something I’ve always wanted to do but never made the time for. Then I got married to someone who didn’t think it was a responsible thing to do when someone else was depending on me being around, then a few years later we were getting a divorce and I certainly didn’t want him to get everything (haha) if someone happened to me so it had to wait, and then next thing you know I was turning 40 soon and I said I would get this done by the middle of July before I left my 30s!! It was the most amazing experience of my life!! I’ve been reading a lot on the site trying to soak in everything I possibly can. I’m pretty shy so I am a little worried about going to the drop zone alone for the instruction. When I was there on the 4th it seemed like I was the only one there alone, while most people had friends and family there hanging out. I’ve tried to get my friends to come with me and give it a shot but they’ve all said no. I even tried calling some of my guy friends “pussy”, using the testosterone macho angle, but no dice. LOL! I hate to look like a “loner” but I guess I’ll meet some people soon enough! Anyway, thanks to eveyone who posts here because you’ve already taught me a lot. This community really seems to stick together, and there’s nothing more important than safety and solidarity among like minds! Cheers!!! Always be kinder than you feel.
