  1. The pilots on the forum will appreciate this. The restricted airspace near London tomorrow has a distinct "penis" shape (see attached) - quite appropriate indeed. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  2. There's a good television series exploring this future dystopian America where the religious people are in charge …"The Handmaid's Tale" "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  3. You went to High School? "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  4. The Angry Baby Trump has received final approval: https://news.sky.com/story/trump-angry-baby-blimp-gets-green-light-to-fly-over-london-during-presidents-visit-11426665 I'm curious why Trump would even want to visit London. He is roundly mocked here as a half-wit. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"

Had a look and found this: https://www.npr.org/2018/06/22/622540597/john-coltranes-lost-album-a-buried-treasure-for-jazz-fans?t=1529828564493 Pretty cool, I hadn't seen this on the news. However as it's positive for society, I'd keep quiet and low-key on creating awareness, lest the orange-faced dictator come along and cancel it's funding. 6. That is also a very good choice. I consider the best two providers to be either DogTag or IHI Bupa (both links below) www.dogtag.com https://global.ihi.com/ Real insurance costs real money; however, you do get a great pricing advantage if you can take a family policy instead of a personal policy. For those looking at “what is cheap”, they should always look to see what is actually covered. The policy isn’t worth anything if it doesn’t cover what you do – just saying a policy covers skydiving is not enough as most of us would also do other “interesting” activities. 7. The purpose of the post was the show the percentage change for global activity coverage. There are annual underwriting changes which affect all "global coverage" policies - doesn't matter where you live. I've had specialist cover for 25 years with a mix of providers. A 26% change is significant in one year; I haven't seen a change of this magnitude since around 2001. This was not a "I found some cheap insurance" thread. 8. While you're taking online quizzes, here's one on punctuation and grammar. http://www.niu.edu/writingtutorial/punctuation/quizzes/PunctuationSelfTest.htm I somehow doubt you'll ace this one. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  9. Just an update/FYI for persons looking at global travel cover for skydiving. I’ve had a family policy (4 persons) with global coverage (inc US/CAD) at Extreme+ sports level with DogTag UK for several years. Each year when I renew, it seems the pricing has fluctuated quite randomly. Last year was £456, however this years covers dropped to £336 – a nice surprise and sizeable price drop. 10. So during the Trump administration, the Oval Office has had visits from Kid Rock, Ted Nugent, Kim Kardashian, and Evangelical Pastors "laying hands". I remember when you used to actually get people of substance/character on White House visits. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  11. Best place for a HALO is Skydance near Davis, California. http://skydanceskydiving.com/halo-skydiving/ Last time I did them, the pricing was $650 initial HALO jump and $525 for subsequent jumps. This includes full briefings and multiple training jumps using the equipment. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  12. Great, the NRA has brought us a fun game for all. Here are the game pieces: Mass synonyms: large number, abundance, profusion, multitude, group, crowd, mob, rabble, horde, barrage, throng, huddle, host, troop, army, herd, flock, drove, swarm, pack, press, crush, mountain, flood Shooting synonyms: gun down, shoot down, mow down, hit, wound, injure, cut down, bring down Not much to work with, but I’ll go first – “multitude mow down” "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  13. I’ve often noted that if someone disabled the exclamation mark “!” key on my keyboard, I wouldn’t even notice. If you did read often, you’d probably notice that intelligent people use words to convey their message as opposed to excessive use of exclamation marks or all caps. A quick scroll through just the past four pages of this thread shows you using the exclamation mark 7 times in just 8 posts (I didn’t count the number of uses of the word “liberal”). Carry on with your inarticulate poorly-punctuated one-line zingers; you serve as a source of amusement rather than insight. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  14. Yes, I noted the same when I Googled. I see CNN briefly interrupted their royal wedding coverage to note the shooting, but were back to royal wedding coverage quite quickly. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  15. This is pretty cool; an underwater hotel in Key Largo: Jules Undersea Lodge www.jul.com https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJ3jr35MPX4 Stopped by myself when in Keys. My wife doesn't scuba dive, so we couldn't spend the night; but they let me go down to have a look. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  16. I like this approach. So for example, I believe [some poster] has a mental defect and I interact with him as one would when addressing someone lacking mental acuity, this would be OK? edited to keep thread on topic "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  17. None of the other first world nations (with much less incidence of gun problems) have classes of this nature - everyone else does fine. There are a multitude of life skills that can/should be taught in schools, but we can't take any single groups hobby and assume the whole country is interested. Many people couldn't give a fuck about guns or have any desire in shooting/handling them. Let's start with spending money/time on education and school supplies; when that's sorted you can add "fluff" like this. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  18. Just saw this one in the news. So we've got a young white redneck kid, AR15, Waffle House, naked (suppose let's add some extra crazy sauce on top of the crazy) and a hero. This is the the stuff of Merle Haggard song lyrics. I didn't read the full details, but did someone's Momma just get out of prison? That would really complete the story. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  19. Sadly reading the morning headlines over a coffee, I still don't see the long awaited news article "Trump impeachment proceedings begin". However in the interim, this news article will suffice for my personal entertainment: Boxer in Trump wall trunks with "America First" logo gets beaten by a Mexican. https://www.bloodyelbow.com/2018/4/13/17234988/video-rod-salka-boxer-america-first-trunks-tko-mexican-opponent How do you say that in 'Murican? 20. Ron, You're not the only one on the forum to ever take a psychology class (re your references to ego). Others here understand the Freudian concepts of id, ego and superego - but what does that really have to do with the concept of "God". As a child when my mother dragged me to church 3x per week, I always wondered what if you were born before all these religions "rules for the pearly gates" and salvation? What if you lived over 5000 years ago or on a remote island; so no baptism, acceptance of the Lord or even know what religion is? Was it just bad luck for you and no heaven? 21. I like that Costco has done the difficult math for the preppers: "12 month 4 person / 6 month 8 person / 3 month 16 person variations of use" Here let me have a go: I guess 1.5 months if you have 32 people? "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  22. In a recent documentary/interview with Warren Buffet, they asked him about his thoughts on the afterlife (he’s 87). He replied “As you know, I’m a life-long agnostic. It could be quite exciting; it could be nothing at all” "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  23. Yes, not exactly the best pick. He’s a “TV” economist, so more about the ratings/entertainment than actual macroeconomics. He’s been at CNBC for near two decades where it’s all about the show. A few years ago, I was on a CNBC appearance (where you’re in a separate studio and they connect you into a panel with the presenter); they changed the topic last-minute that I was brought on to discuss. We went live and I found we were talking about something entirely different (re a news event earlier in the day). Luckily, I was able to go with the new topic uninterrupted, but this is the working environment that this guy has been in for near twenty years. 24. In the late 1990’s, I had just landed from a London to Los Angeles flight. I am at the baggage carousel waiting for our bags and one comes by that looks like my wife’s and I check the tag and see the name “Stephen Hawking”. I think to myself “cool; like the physicist”. I go back to staring blankly at the carousel and his caretaker wheels him right next to me. I would have loved to speak with him, but know how laborious that is with his synthesiser and of course we just got off a 12hour flight. I nod and smile to him, but didn’t try to strike up a conversation. I was standing there with him for about 10-15 minutes and it felt really odd that I was standing next to one of the smartest guys on the planet – and I can’t talk to him.
