  1. I recently bought a reserve off of dropzone.com. I heading to the states in a few weeks and decided I would have it shipped to Sunrise. I received an email yesterday informing me that when the rigger went to pack my reserve he notice that the steering lines had been cut instead of properly removing the toggles. I immediately contacted the person who sold me the reserve to ask if they were aware of the state of the canopy previous to selling it to me. He responded No! These are the two emails following his response. Hi #%$@, I was told that Sunrise is going to repair the canopy without any additional charges. That is going above and beyond what is required of them, which I really appreciate. If that changes between now and when I pick up my gear I will let you know. My biggest concern is that you didn't notice that a key component of the canopy was damaged before selling it. I am thankful that I had you send it directly to Sunrise, if I had gotten it shipped to Canada I would have had to send it back to the U.S. to get fixed. There is always an element of fear associated with purchasing something you have never seen and blindly trusting a complete stranger, hopefully this won't ever happen to either of us again. I can only hope that next time you sell something you will do a thorough inspection of the gear before posting it on dz.com Brittany His response: Brittany: I had rigger disassemble everything and was not aware that anything was wrong. The canopy was not damaged and steering lines are a minor problem that any rigger is capable of replacing. All the best. My question is. Is this acceptable, am I over reacting? Am I correct in feeling slightly cheated by not being told the condition of the canopy before the transaction took place?
  2. Z-Hills is hands down the best drop zone I have ever been to. The environment is the first thing that stood out. Minus the abundance of big planes to jump from and loads of regular’s to jump with, you would think you are at a small Cessna drop zone. I don’t think I made it on to the plane once without someone asking me what I was planning to do on my jump and if they could join in. I feel like everyone’s mission at Z-Hills is to make sure you’re having a great time. There is an overwhelming amount of experience on the dz accompanied with tons of modesty. You would never know the person who is asking if they can “tag along” on your jump has 20,000 jumps unless you did some asking around. Typically I never leave a drop zone dying to go back. Even if I have a great time I think about how many drop zones there are and get excite about seeing what else is out there…… I leave in 5 weeks for my second trip to Z-Hills and can’t wait. To summarize, the people are amazing and the facility is great. I took a course while I was there and loved it. I got to witness first hand how strict they can be with safety issues, which is great to see. It seems people head to z-hills for a vacation and tend to never leave, which is very reflective of a great owner who is truly passionate about his drop zone. I recommend everyone check out Z-Hills for themselves. You won’t be disappointed!
