  1. Hi Ray, I am an S&TA in your region, You said you were going to come to our DZ, (the largest turbine DZ in Utah ) Never seen you. You are hard to get a hold of, you don't answer emails. You are on the safety and training comitee and you have a AFFI/IE who is a convicted Pedophile and sex offender and nobody has done anything about that. Now tell me why I should vote for you? Onward and Upward!
  2. Don't get your gear advice from the internet. There is a lot of mis-information here. Talk to your instructors and local riggers. Cheers! Onward and Upward!
  3. Bob is still the dzo in Madras as far as I know, they are having a mini end of the year boogie in October. He has also flown some loads at the Sisters airport this summer and starting next year there will be a new DZ there. No need to drive clear to Eugene to jump a cessna, Madras is much closer. Sisters will be even closer to Bend once they get going there. I have jumped in Central Oregon on and off since the early 80's in Bend, Cline Falls, (Redmond) and Madras. Bob has been running the DZ in Central Oregon since the late 1980's. It has always been low-key laid back atmosphere. Great people and great scenery. The new DZ in Sisters should be awesome. 4. I almost understood some of that, but it made even less sense the second time I read it. The aircraft was tied down but not chocked, apparently enough slack in the tie downs to allow it to lunge forward. No doubt he had done this a million times before. Complacency? Age and slower reflexes maybe? It is just hard to believe he would go out that way. Love him or hate him Ted was one of the original outlaw skydivers and a true icon/legend in the sport. He got a lot of people in the air and many of them are still jumping today. 5. Bump In search of a source for a free bag and pilot chute for an R235 Thank you Onward and Upward!
  6. Perhaps I have been giving it an unfair rap. The Mars AAD has been around in Europe for quite some time now, the M2 is the newest version (like Cypres 2, Vigil 2) It is not a new start up company, many documented saves. From what I have been told it is more similar to the Vigil than the Cypres. No maintenence unless needed, 15 year life on battery. Very well made, aircraft quality aluminum case, stainless cutter, etc. I will likely replace my expired cypres units with the M2. Onward and Upward!
  7. All the time with students and tandems. they usually don't even know who packed the reserve. Regular skydivers? Never, they are always very grateful. Onward and Upward!
  8. Can you explain? Are you saying it comes with the canopy?...from the manufacturer? Yes, this looks just like the links that came with the Hyper Nitro. Instead of a tab or a ring they just had a simple knot. The links that came with my Nitro look just like this. Heres the link: http://www.hiperusa.com/files/HiPerLink_Instructions.pdf Onward and Upward!
  9. Yep, from a Hyper Nitro Onward and Upward!
  10. Multiple cypres fires (3) in a Cessna Caravan back in 2007. This incident happened when an AFF instructor and another experienced jumper decided to leave the students in the plane because of strong winds and thunderstorms. The instructor and his buddy jumped and during the decent the 3 students AADs went off, just seconds after one of them went to the back of the plane to shut the door. (because they were cold) The AADs were student mode. The AFF instructor had his ratings suspended by USPA. It was decided that even though the students were cleared for solo free fall the instructor should have remained on board, turned off the AADs and seat belted the students. They landed without seatbelts on and 3 open reserves. Onward and Upward!
  11. Fixed it for you My 3 PD reserves are all over 20 years old and still in perfect condition. I had a ride on one just last summer and it performed flawlessly. I have no intention of retiring them anytime soon. Onward and Upward!
  12. Thanks Wendy! Onward and Upward!
  13. Looking for a diagram or picture (front and back) of a split slider for a project. Thanks! Onward and Upward!
  14. That's what Tom Piras said. Bullshit, Tom Piras never said that. You do your arguement no good by making shit up. Onward and Upward!
  15. My Ray-bans I jump with are prescription. I also have prescription Vuarnets. Onward and Upward!
  16. Vuarnets are by far and away the best in my opinion. They make several current wrap around models that work well for open face. Ray Bans are a good second choice. I won't jump with cheap sunglasses. Onward and Upward!
  17. Galvanized pipe fittings from Home Depot Onward and Upward!
  18. http://www.indoorskydivingsource.com/tunnels/ifly-portland/ I was told Ifly Portland will be open by September. Onward and Upward!
  19. Thanks for making my case to give you your own forum. I have no problem with that. Onward and Upward!
  20. Would it be possible to give the DB Cooper nuts their own forum? Seriously, this has gone on way beyond too far. Day after day, month after month, year after year. Enough already. Let us have the Skydiving history and trivia forum back. Please. Onward and Upward!
  21. I get the math, I was looking for a source to confirm the date. Onward and Upward!
  22. Why do you think that? Onward and Upward!
  23. I think you are right, that would mean add 3 months and they all time out this month. (Feb 2015) Onward and Upward!
  24. Does anyone know the date the last original cypres was made? I checked the airtech website and that place is like where's waldo. I believe 2003 was the last year of production, that year they started making/selling the cypres 2 but I think they continued to make the original one as well. I believe this is the last year that any rig can have one unless they kept making the original after 2003. ? Onward and Upward!
  25. Some manufacturers use rings instead of tabs on their soft links. PD uses tabs, Precision has rings. My answer was just a guess. It really does not make sense to cut the link off and leave the ring but I have seen weirder things. Onward and Upward!
