  1. This all sounds like PF is just sitting around with their hands up their ass not making suits. If your suit takes twice the time to get to you it's not because they don't give a shit, it's because they have so many orders. The reason for that isn't pictures of guys farting rainbows on the internet, it's quality. When I order PF suits I factor in the delay because I know it's worth it. The fact that they don't communicate well is a different story. If people want to order a suit based on how the manufacturer's site looks or how some guy is 3 inches closer to the ground than another than go for it but in the end those people are usually the ones no one wants to fly with anyway.
  2. Travel, don't even need to go that far if you are in the midwest... Look for the bigger DZs around and head out there for boogies or just for a weekend and talk to a wingsuit coach there.
  3. I am not a BASE jumper so I don't know what is mostly being jumped in the mountins but whenever I go to a skydiving event and or DZ I don't see many other manufacturer's wingsuits being used... Why in the world would they invest time, money and energy in something they clearly don't need? Who cares how long the lead times are? Who cares about customer service? Everyone is buying the suits anyway, they could send the suits out with a fuck you note attached and they would still have more suits out there than the other guys... This is just from what I have been seeing, I know they may not have the best business model but they do have the best product why else would we all keep coming back?
  4. haha yeah that happens at my place of work quite bit at this of year too. Must be something in the air
  5. You are in good hands with NEBS, not only are they fantastic wingsuiters but also a great bunch of people to hang out with... Should be lots of fun
  6. August 22-24th Parachute Montreal (http://www.dropzone.com/dropzone/Detailed/1469.shtml) is hosting what is likely to be the biggest wingsuit event we have ever seen in Canada. Scott Callantine and Gilaad Elstein will be there to make sure we have a good time in a safe way. We will also be taking stab at the Canadian record. https://www.facebook.com/events/424255534385204/?ref_dashboard_filter=upcoming
  7. Is it because of the "hole" they have in the leg wing?
  8. Yup that was me, that GR is much higher than anyone else in Ghost3 ever did mainly because we were jumping in a hurricane... However new world records were set that day ;) ::Also 150mph at 3,4GR in a Ghost3 is a good indication of what the winds were doing
  9. It is always the same when they release a new suit... Friends and family get theirs to showcase the product on the internet but then all the orders that came in pilled way up and they need to play catch up. Happens with every new release, not sure what you are mad about. In those 12 weeks did you try contacting someone through an @phoenixfly account?

    Navigation

Honestly I am happy someone is interested and asking questions... I find most people don't know or don't care and some just don't want to know. We have an issue here with a few people with no solo wingsuit jumps because they don't understand these principles. They always want to follow someone else. I think that is a problem. Out of all the questions I get from new birds none are about navigation and I feel like maybe this isn't getting all the attention it deserves in FFCs. I have a system for the DZs around here where first off I always talk with the pilot about jump run and winds (usually on the way up when he has a minute) and second I find that a good first jump on the day is to add a mile or so to the furthest point he would let out the freefallers then adjust depending on type of jumps I want to do. Bottom line is talk to the pilot, there is a reason why a specific jump run is established
  11. I like the PF zippers and don't think it's all that complicated to get the suit on/off but I would like to order a suit without the innie option. Have heard from friends that like Tony's suits that they would like to get them without the innie system as well. From what I can gather here and at the multiple DZs I have visited this year same goes for the people flying the Squirrel suits so... Why is this still standard if a good portion of people don't want it?
  12. I think this may be a bit harsh, I have had the handles go in the suit on the Swift and decided not to jump it more than once (it was a friend's suit). If only all these companies would offer it as an option then everyone would be 100% satisfied and that makes me wonder why it is still being pushed on us for these select suits
  13. That was my 1st reaction, 4 out 2x2 means two people have the edge AND there is potential for interference on exit. You could get 4 people on one side of a heli with a red/green light at the end of a pole that the jumpers would be facing when red turns to green they go. Could still be interference but at least all 4 have a shot at it
  14. Is there a negative with the storm in changing the brake setting to something a little shallower? As for thread, spectre, will get a storm when that is knackered. I have 2 inches taken away from the brake lines on my Storm, with the original length I don't feel like I have all stopping power I need... Specially in no wind conditions. The 2 inches less solved that and made no changes to the flight caracteristics. If you do shorten them just make sure there is no tension on them when in full flight
  15. Love my Storm, got it when I got sick of my Sabre2 spinning up on me. Openings are nice and soft, never any surprises and it has only spun up on me 3 times (2 of those were weak pulls) in the last 200 jumps. It does fly steep though so you need to know when to open a bit higher or pick your out early. A good plan on the ground will usually result in a good spot under canopy so I am not usually worried about landing out. I usually fly it with my hands closer to my shoulders to give it a bit of a flatter glide.
  16. If you fly 3 feet forward you fly 3 feet from the person below you which happens to be nicer looking AND more fun. Also if you look at flat formations there usually more spacing at the back so a vertical formation usually has more at the top... The more spacing you have close to the base the greater that effect will be so fly closer as a general rule in all situations and you'll be golden ;) Not always that easy though
  17. Shadow is aimed at acro and also really good in flocks, great beginner/intermediate suit... Sounds like what you want to me
  18. In fact I would say most people upsize suits and downsize canopies when they are uncurrent, people usually buy gear at the beginning of a season or during the off season... That doesn't mean it is a good way to go about it
  19. So how does the "pre-order" work exactly? Do you use the regular Havok form and say you want the Carve? In which case your order is put aside until PF starts taking orders for the new version?
  20. 14 jumps on a Birdman Firebird followed by 200+ on a Phantom2. Late last season started trying different suits like Ghost3, S-Bird and Vampire 4/5. At first the hardest thing about it for me was going fast, could never catch up to people. Most would tell me to get a bigger suit but I put in the time on my P2 anyway and got some coaching instead

    Phoenix Fly

I think following the release of the new V series suits last year PF were "overwhelmed" with the amount of orders. They recently announced hiring new staff so I don't think they are going out of business... After that announcement I put in an order and had my suit in hand after 8 weeks to the day. To create an account on here to write up this post is obviously just a childish attempt at discrediting the folks at PF.
  22. I asked for "wingsuit bridle" when I ordered my Mirage not too long ago and it's 8,5 feet from the pin
  23. Most my jumps are from the caravan and never noticed that either, talking to the pilots out airspeed is around 90
  24. After my tandem I saw wingsuits on the Discovery Channel and booked AFF. Before even getting on the plane I asked the instructor doing the ground course about wingsuiting... It was laughed off and I was told to see him after the course. He just said I should concentrate on the task at hand and alot of experience was needed to fly wingsuits. I didn't care, flying was my goal so I did what I needed to reach it. Found out later about the 200 jump rule, go out and learn to fly your body, go to boogies, get tunnel time and in no time at all you will get your wings... And buy beer
  25. Pretty pleased with the results of the wine cork, fits nice and snug and doesn't require tape/glue ::PVC tube was standard Mirage issue when I ordered the rig with wingsuit options
