  1. i have the same problem with the tg1 avchd files and sony vegas instad of importing avchd camcorder click - import media then select the files from the folder in the windows menu .. might pay to find the folder in explorer before you attempt this .. from memory i think files are kept in the stream folder
  2. thanks so much for your return post re youtube formats .. I tried using the default mp4 setting + checking the box that said stretch to fit footage. default mp4 was pillard stretch mp4 was pillard and boxed. Where do i change the settings for mp4 formats?
  3. I am using Sony Vegas Platimum v9. Thanks for the great tutorials on Vaast .. really helpful! Having problems uploading audio to youtube. Songs are legal to use .. i.e. not blocked due to rights managed process Rendering event as MP2 (video) and MP3 or WMA (audio) Youtube only allows 1 file to be uploaded. When I create DVD using Architect a long as I place both files in same folder with same name both files are picked up. How do you upload HQ video with audio .. onto youtube and can it be done using mp2?? (note when I upload as WMV file, audio is included though footage low quality + gets letterboxed) Footage recorded in HD FH - Sony TG1 Event created in widescreen etc File sizes comparison 3 min 25 sec footage MP2 = 150m / WMV = 65M edit - have also tried mp4 format - i get audio but mp4 default setting = pillared (lines at side) mp4 set to fill screen = pillard and boxed ie lines all around
  4. Does this cam come with a remote? or does the existing Sony remote's work on it? I looked at Sony page spec - no remote was listed. I have a TG1 - I miss not having a remote when debriefing footage.
  5. Better late than never? Some TG1 footage from the Picton Chrissy Boogie, Syd Australia Mostly atmo, a little head up / down. Cookie Hypoxic set up with a Liquid .3(0.29) lens. Ground swooping footage is taken without lens. cheers Kate HD SP record mode Final jump sunset-ish - low light http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=_tSp3zc4A_I
  6. if you want heat and Xmas jumping come to the southern hemisphere Largest DZ is OZ runs a kick arse boogie - 26/12 to NYE + a couple of days For details http://www.sydneyskydivers.com.au/?page=sport If you pre-register by 8/12/08 A$30 slots = ??? 10 Euros per jump out of the Sydney skyvan = 14,000 feet in 12 mins - absolutely awesome (happy to be corrected on that exchange rate - but you Europeans would live like kings out here). I don't jump there normally - but will be heading up for my inaugural Picton (Sydney) boogie. A Christmas during the height of our summer is something to be experienced 30-40c - the christmas carols make no sense but i am sure you would enjoy yourselves. The surf beaches aren't too far away - 30-40 mins- so if you like combining your passions, you won't be left wanting. ciao Kate AKA loftybanter
  7. Hey Skypimp, I spose only in jumping would i ever be opening with that salutation :) I have replied re a PM with details to your problem - but it wouldn't let me attach the uptodate paper - its 350k over the 200 k limit. PM your email address and i'll send it through ciao, Kate aka LoftyBanter
  8. Info for Mac uses It appears a number of people have commented that Macs do not like working with AVCHD - the output format from the TG1. This link may assist - outlines the problem and potential fixes for the mac when working with AVCHD format video. One user has already implemented the VoltaicHD solution - reported this was an easy fix for his problems. http://theory.isthereason.com/?p=2157 From the article Here are two workarounds: 1) Save time by batch converting HD video 2) Get a standard format HD camera (e.g. MPEG4) 1. Time-saving method Since you’re literally left hanging with unwatchable / uneditable HD video, consider making a software investment. For $30, VoltaicHD lets you copy all your footage to your Mac, unplug your camera, then convert the footage while you (and your camera) go and do other things. An additional benefit is how VoltaicHD is Universal binary, so supports PowerPC and Intel Macs, while Apple’s AVCHD converter (in both iMovie’08 and Final Cut Pro) only supports Intel platforms. 2. Standard format HD camera Granted, non-AVCHD HD cameras might seem impossible to find (Sanyo, you too?!?), but they exist. Paul Stamatiou tried the Samsung SC-HMX10, which is a HD camcorder which saves in regular mpeg4 (.mp4) video files, which is perfect for editing anywhere. If you discover anymore of such HD cameras (flash-based, no DV tapes please!), do drop me a line.
  9. Re zooming in - I don't know - I have not tried this - I'll try this weekend and let you know. It would take about 10 seconds to get out of box to do landing footage. There is no sight on the camera except for the lcd screen - so if you are zooming in - i'd suggest taking it out of the box - so you can access the lcd screen. Re type of stabilisation From the paper ... I'll email it to you From Dugy – Skysurfer.com.au Forum – Which camera to buy Sony TG1 24 Sep 08 Purchased TG1 and flying for 2 weeks The CX7 and HC9 are optically stabilised. The TG1 and the HC5 use electronic stabilisation. Note - the is only a very small difference between when the stabilisation is turned on in freefall or not. It doesn't flutter when on - the footage is a slightly more jumpy. When on the ground if walking around and filming you need the stabilisation turned on. cheers Kate
  10. Hey Pat, I'm flying the TG1 with the Hypeye D Pro - no probs. Setting the focus depends on the lens that you are using. I prefer manual focus to auto as if the subject is slidding in and out the cam does not keep up. My preferred method of focussing is to not use the lcd settings on screen ie 0.1 - as they are unreliable and do not register the superfine settings focus options. My preferred method of focussing is to hold the lens in front of the camera ( manually or automatically depending on your set up) and set the focus to auto - then when focussed - change this by choosing the manual setting via the lcd screen - this holds the setting. I am flying a cookie box with a liquid .3 (or sometimes a liquid .5 lens) + hypeye d pro The .5 does not show the helmet. The .3 does. When i focus the .3 i zoom the camera in a smidge before i focus - and this removes the outer edge of the .3 on the footage - awesum footage. If you are wanting to focus manually using the lcd numerical screen you can - but i find it notoriously unreliable especially on the .3 lens. Once you get to .01 on the lcd screen - the focus goes into super fine mode - so the focus changes - but the display stays at 0.1 - so if you push this once or 10 times you get a wildly different result on the "same 0.1 setting". The attached paper outlines Cookie experience on which buttons to push when setting without a visual reference. This doesn't always work for the .3 as the screen is tempremental and takes 4-6 touches to get in focus. Results depend on how long you hold the button down for and how hard you press. I believe much easier to use the lcd screen as a visual check when focussing. Use the auto function to focus then retain by moving to manual focus mode - it is far easier. Also - leave scene selection on auto - do not change to beach or ourdoor etc - as this means you can not use the auto button to focus the camera with a lens in front of it. As I say on my paper about the TG1 - attached - this camera has its quirks - but it is grt for filming my friends - and i do not even notice i am flying video - excellent pic quality - excellent recording and battery time - you just need to learn how to drive it to get the best results. Feel free to pm me with any questions - attached is the paper. Ciao Kate - aka LoftyBanter
  11. I have been using the camera for 100 jumps with the Cookie helmet and Hypeye - this is version 3 of a white paper I have done on my experience and the good bits of info that have appeared on a number of threads around the place. Recently have worked out much easier way to focus camera, found that pic is better with stabilisation turned off, and have added other info re buffering and dubbing. As mentioned above - there is another extensive thread on this camera -94 posts- on dropzone.com - but the camera name does not appear in the heading - so this may be a nice place to consolidate the information. Comments and feedback welcome. Hope this helps. Kate
  12. Just finished 40 jumps at Nox with the TG1 - image quality is far better when the image stabilisation is turned OFF - yep weird - but great result - no flutter at all - was jumping sit and atmo dives

  15. Hi everyone .. I have purchased this set up and have put together a paper on my experience to date .. thanks to Trunk from Get Hypoxic and Cookie from Cookie composites for their feedback and assistance in putting this together. For freeflying and filming my friends - the experience is awesome - but the camera does have its quirks and may not be suitable for all skydiving applications. Feedback / questions welcome. Cheers LB
