Best is a relative term. You have to factor in the complete cost of getting a BPA like certificate overseas. A few European and American DZs have BPA rated intructors and can complete the whole cursus. Empuria is one, I'm pretty sure Sebastian in Florida too. There probably are others. Weather wise, the place where you have this higher probability of jumping a solid week(s) is Arizona. California and Florida are usually good, but you have a higher chance of getting bum weather. Empuria also is usually good, but you can get really unlucky and show up when the Tramontana blows for 5 days straight and no one jumps. Scenary wise, Empuria is really hard to beat (allthough I bet Borneo will be nice too.. ). Plus, Barcelona is 2 hours away only, best city in the world IMHO. Get a BPA membership, or borrow a "Skydive, the Mag", or subsribe to it. It lists "packages" for AFF courses abroad (Som in the US, some in Spain/Portugal) run by Brits. Cant comment if any of those are better then others, as I never took them. Remster Muff 914

Hi Aragao, I'm sure if you post on the Safety and Training forum a list of terms you dont understand, and explain English isnt your 1st language, you will get lots of answers... It wont solve the"world's problem", but one step at a time..... PS: I'm not aware of a more detailed glossary then the DZ.com one Sangi linked to... there may be one, any one? Remster Muff 914

Do I need a collapsible for a 150 eliptical?
Remster replied to ForeverDive's topic in Safety and Training
If you're on a real tight budget, get the grommet through which the briddle passes through the D bag changed to a larger one (by a rigger). Large enough to slide over the PC, small enough to be stopped by the handle. Presto, collapsable PC. Downside is higher wear on the PC. Do a quick searh in teh gear forum, you may find a thread that describes this in more details. Remster Muff 914 -
Guys... WTF!!! If you feel the US is targeted by this, then you must be feeling guilty about something! No where does it mention the US. Even remotly. Remster Muff 914

Ideal: the same smallish canopy for all at the same wing load. Serious teams will wear lead. Small for higher performance, ie more points. For casual crew, a similar performance canopy ( not necesseraly the same size, so a Tri 150 and a Lightning 193 at the same loading) at similar wing loads will work... The further you move from the ideal (same model, same size, same wing load), the less compatible the canopies. Remster Muff 914

The style points are (afaik) only for the landing. And I bet it would be the other way around: these guys could teach us a thing or 2 about tracking... How many hours in a areodynamic wind tunnel have you spent? lol Remster Muff 914

Do not use a space ball. If you dont know if you can turn on the spot, then you dont have the skills to use one. Jump with someone. Remster Muff 914

Hey Ben, long time no post! Actually, just renewed our BPA membership, and it states VERY CLEARLY that 3rd party issurance is not valid in USA... so next time any of you brits go to the US, you may want to join the USPA for the 3 month membership option... Also, afaik, TSO waivers are only available at a few big DZs Remster Muff 914

Andy, I saw both the Russion and Canadian long program performance live (I was stuck in a hotel room with Eurosport and couldnt sleep.... really, I was)... being Canadian, I'll come off sounding biased, but it was a complete farce... The russian man triped twice very visibly and had another so so landind that was obvious on slow motion. The canadians had a flawless routine. The only negative of the Canadian's routine was the lack of cleavage shown by Sale ... yet another English speaking canadian putting a poor unsuspecting Quebequois under some sort of sexual charm... lol Remster Muff 914

I think this debate is appropriate here. If not, let me know, and I'll kick it up in talk back. From the forum description: -A forum for all skydivers at all levels who believe in safety as the #1 priority in skydiving - Now, dont get me wrong, safety is important. But if safety is the #1 priority, then none of us would be jumping. As far as I can tell, we all have another #1 priority: why else put ourselves 10 seconds away from emminent death on every single jump?... why else would people do high speed landings?... why else would people do big formations (either FF or RW)?... Heck, why do any FF if it exceeds the manufaturers TSO limits? For some, it the fun, other the rush, other the challenge, others coz the chicks dig it (dont laugh, for some it is....) Safety should be a factor, an important one, on every jump, but the #1 priority? This obviously isnt a right or wrong debate as each individual has different motivations... What do you think?
