QuoteHope you have the grandfathered unlimited data plan. Streaming Netflix films via 3G will quickly eat up the regular plans.
Additionally, I haven't been able to get the 3G to stream particularly well in my area. I doubt you'll be able to anything watchable on the Edge connection, but the WiFi streaming is awesome.
It seems to work pretty well on 3g here in San Antonio. My wife was watching the last of nip tuck in the truck the other day just fine on her iphone4.

QuoteQuoteIn Reno and I couldn't help but think. Don't you just hate it when someone abuses the system and makes shit harder on everyone else?
I presume this is a consequence of this year's Burning Man. Thousands of Rhys's came back with their 'rental' gear. And I'm sure the hippie crowd said the same thing - evil Walmart deserves to be taken advantage of.
I would bet on it Reno walmart, yeah they are probably overloaded right about now with dusty ass tents and sleeping bags before they figured it out.

QuoteQuoteBut John, this thing only fires noise.
Noise can be fun. And who's to say that a potato couldn't get accidentally lodged in the barrel?
We set one in the brush near a guys deer blind one night, you should have seen the look on his face the next morning at camp after the hunt
I could barely keep from pissing myself laughing everytime i heard it go off that morning, it just happened to be that perfect still, cold morning hunting, then BLAMMO!! about every 15 minutes or so.

Does anybody need something from Switzerland ?
I personally don't but it would be very good form for you to deliver some chocolate to BBarnhouse when you get there. She is one you want on your side.

QuoteQuoteQuoteHi Yoda,
QuoteI have an airbrush and thought about spraying some nice celtic artwork on a rig would look very cool.
You could always ask the mfr but I do think that I know what their answer would be.
Although over the years I have seen a fair number of Pop-Top caps painted.
JerryBaumchen
.....and a lot of flaps, too! one guy was responsible for most of the painted pop-tops and flaps that I've seen. (may he RIP)
Here's a page with a bunch of his work.

My wife's first rig was an older javelin with one of his paintings on the reserve flap. We had no idea who painted it until one day Orly showed up at the dz and recognized it immediately and told us who did it.

thanks guys! I figured i have had this 20D since they came out it was about time i learned how to use it. Got a new 50mm 1.4 the other day for some portrait work i want to do. It isn't L glass but i'm working on it.

the focus of my photography has changed significantly lately and now i wouldn't mind paying for higher end lenses since i know they aren't going to be jumped.

QuoteI don't know anyone who regularly jumps L glass for tandems, no.
I do know people that jump L glass regularly.
I jump the 15mm or the 24mm for most of my tandems unless it's a commercial shoot, and then it's L glass.
Makes sense for a commercial shoot and i certainly see the difference good glass makes. I made the mistake of borrowing a lens from our photographer when she was taking baby pics B&H is evil!

It is cool isn't it? We were in Jamaica one year when a nest hatched on the beach at our resort and several of the hatchlings were heading towards the lights of the resort instead of the moon. The staff and guests all pitched in and rounded them up and took them out to the reef. The resort even turned off most of the lights near the pool and bar for the ones that were still emerging from the nest! It was an experience i will never forget.

DSE is certainly the man when it comes to video flying so i would go with whatever he says. I started out trying to find a helmet "to start with" also, i then decided that it wasn't working like i thought so i bought another one. That didn't work like I thought either so i finally went with a Flat Top Pro from bonehead and bought a couple extra top plates in case i wanted to change configurations/camera locations or camera models. I flew tandem vids, FS 4-20 ways, skysurf, freestyle, tracking dives, freefly (head up and HD) and just about anything else you could think of. Except CRW, those people are nuts! Is it more expensive to go that route? No. Only costs more to get started, cheaper overall. I had three helmets when i could have only bought one to start with. There is a reason that all the top video flyers in our sport use large top mount helmets, they WORK

Socks? What kind? And if so where do you buy those?

Toe shoes need toe socks.

I don't know that you need to have socks with these shoes. I haven't seen anyone who wears these wear them with socks. I don't wear socks with mine and the idea of wearing socks with them seems counter intuitive to me.
Thems the same kinda people that wear socks with Tevas too!

i bought a pair of KSO's a couple years ago. I love them and wear them everywhere. I never jumped in them though because they really don't offer a whole lot of protection. If you want a light thin soled shoe for jumping, try the Puma speed cats also.

skydiving/wakeboarding Marketing
in The Bonfire
Most working (professional)skydivers can't afford a Tige (or a place to live for that matter) But lots of skydivers i know sure love to wakeboard/ski. We used to have a group of us that got together every tuesday to wakeboard/ wakeskate on our local cable lake. (none of us could afford a boat) We even did a demo into the place during a competition/grand opening. I can tell you that marketing skydiving didn't go over well with the wakeboarding crowd
