I haven't fished there in several years but FWIW, The line of buoys marks the center of the river channel (Rio Grande) so that technically marks the border. When we fished tournaments down there three or four times a year, we regularly fished on the mexican side and the US side at will. It was fine as long as you didn't get out of your boat. We often saw mexican fishermen on the US side as well. Mexico fishing permits were sold at most of the motels in town and at the tackle stores as well. I still have several friends who are tournament fishermen and they absolutely refuse to fish on the mexican side anymore, simply not worth the risk.

For books, other than what you have read already, I would go with J's suggestion of Ted Bell. I read some of his stuff a couple years ago and really liked it. I need to get my hands on a couple more also.

One of my favorites. Demo into the Texas Ski Ranch which is a cable lake wakeboard park. We jumped in on a Satuday and Sunday morning/early afternoon. The landing area is an island surrounded by five towers and cables all the way around at about 30 feet up. They told us on the pre jump briefing that if we hit it, it would be a min. of $5k to fix.
Our pilot gave them one hell of a flyby over their boat lake in the kingair before each jump too. He had people in the boat ducking

You absolutely can't go wrong with a ruger 10-22. I do see the merit in getting a bolt action rifle for learning the patience to shoot well. A .22 from any of the major manufacturers should do you well but the 10-22 is by far my favorite.

Try peanut butter, the oil in it should work the same way and won't hurt the cat as far as i know. I am not a vet however.

DSE, they are known around here for extremely cheap and cheesy commercials. Hiring "models" that they probably picked up at the local strip club the night before, etc. I doubt they paid for the footage.

We stayed there for Nationals in 2004, it wasn't that bad as far as cleanliness goes but i agree with you about the security. If i remember right, the chain lock thingy on the door was broken too in our room.

My (now) wife and I stayed at this shithole of a motel on the corner of 6 and 21 in Bryan TX one night after a boogie at Skydive Aggieland. We walked in and it smelled, she pulled back the comforter and there was a large red stain on the underside of it
She pulled ALL the bedding off and drug it up to the front office and returned with all new clean sheets and a blanket.

They are absolutely incredible to see live. They are usually at our local burn event, Burning Flipside. This year we watched one of their performances at about 2am outside. So cool to see. During one part of the show they put audience members inside a metal cage between the two coils and the music plays with the arc's bouncing off the cage. The Emperial March is a cool one to see them do also.
