  1. It is certainly going to be sub-terminal! And it sounds like it is a fair bit of work to change it - you have to remove all of the rubber from the lines and then change the knots to bar tacks from what I read in one thread.. A lot of people said it was ok subterminal - and this would be out of a 182 And I am used to jumping tail-pocketed Lightnings :-)
  2. Awesome. Reading all the threads it seems like this canopy has a fine line between baglock and unconsciousness :-)
  3. I have come across an old Paraplane I would like to jump :-) (on modern 3 rings in my intentional cutaway rig subterminal just for good measure :-) After reading some of the very amusing threads in this forum about packing the thing - (subterminal versus terminal packjobs - bag lock versus broken ribs!) I definitely want to see if I can find a copy of the manual.. We were planning to switch out the 2 pilot chute system for one modern "student-sized" pc - any thought about how that might affect things? Wendy
  4. As having been a person who has been groped and otherwise accosted (not by Trump) I always tried by best to get away and avoid the person in the future. Trying to prove to a court that I got inappropriately grabbed was going to be a he said - she said and I had no proof. And the people who did it to me weren't even rich and powerful or had any sort of control over my life. I felt it was pointless to report them. But if one of those people had been Trump, and I had witnessed him on television about bragging about groping women, walking in on them naked, it would have pissed me off. Especially when he started talking that is was all talk and not true. At that point I may have gained the courage to come forward. At the time it happened - police would have done nothing. Doubtful even a newspaper would have published an article - after all he was on television bragging about walking in the locker rooms.. Michelle Obama's speech on the subject was amazingly powerful. You explained many women's views far better than me.
  5. From my jumps on them Firebolts open super soft and have a great flare
  6. If you want to do CRW - definitely get a Triathlon or Spectre. Triathlons are a tad more compatible than Spectres but both are good. Storms fall out of the sky. Their angle of attack is practically straight and they are 100% incompatible for CRW with any other canopy other Storms. I have ~10k jumps, 3k CRW jumps. I jump a Lightning for hard core CRW and I own 10ish Triathlons for freefall and everything else. Triathlons are very compatible for stacks and otehr small ways. 7 cells rock :-)
  7. My student logbook http://crwdog.servebeer.com/CRWdog/HowCRW.html I have over 10k jumps now and am an AFF instructor. Relaxing is the key. And arch at your pelvis not your chest. And practice at home.. You can get this! I did! Don't give up!
  8. A lot will depend on where you are located - more humid places have more issues. I had a friend who was tracking off on a 20 way when his full face completely fogged over. He had to pull blind, and spent a little bit under canopy blind while trying to open his visor. Scary stuff!
  9. I've been using this one for 4-5 years now http://www.skydivingaltimeter.com/
  10. Please post in the classifieds. Thanks.
  11. At the dropzone tonight, discussing signing up for the Mars mission. But as far as I know, gravity on Mars is way less than on Earth - which would be good for jumping off of things. But I think the atmosphere is way thinner which would make us come down faster. So I was like - I know there are some crazy smart people on dz.com - how would skydiving ( or just base jumping) on Mars compare to Earth? Would we need parachutes? Future astronauts want to know....
  12. Its just a nice slow ride. My first 2 jumps on student status (I weighed 110) were on a Manta 288. About 15 years ago I took up a 375, and a radio and a sandwich and enjoyed a nice long canopy ride. Could have landed it without a flare at all I was coming down so slow. No issues with pressurization...
  13. We have 270/230/210. All opened great. The only one we had which had hard openings was a brand new 230. After a bit we noticed that it had shipped with a slider that was quite a bit smaller than the one on the Solo 210! We replaced it with a bigger slider and now it opens beautifully.
  14. We have mostly Aerodyne Solo's and one PD Navigator. I prefer how the Solo's fly. They are crazy forgiving.
  15. I know of 2 around this area (out of probably 50-100 that come to us regularly.) And one belongs to the dzo! Wouldn't recommend a square unless the person had skydived before..
  16. And if you ordered a new lineset from PD, most dropzones have a rigger than can install it for you. Quite possibly if you take the canopy there on a weekend, and leave the new lineset and canopy, it could be done by the next weekend..
  17. I actually use the altimeter simulator all the time with my AFF students. When we are practicing skydives on the ground it helps them to have a "real" altimeter to read as opposed to just pretending.
  18. I jumped at TSC a few years back. Awesome people, very friendly. I was glad I had a Japanese friend who helped me negotiate the insurance and stuff I needed but it was worth it.
  19. Go to groups.google.com and join the crwdogs group. I believe someone posted recently about starting to set up a crw calendar. But all of the information gets posted there.
  20. Oh thank goodness they were talking about you - I surely wouldn't want to be president of speakers corner!!!
