  1. If it is a weekend, I'd go to Sebastian...best views in Florida and great all around DZ. Any other day, I'd have to say Z-Hills.
  2. I agree...that would've been awesome...maybe next time!
  3. HAHA! Reminds me of the time where Dane Cook recounts a similar experience with his father... "one day, all this could be yours" Gross nonetheless As for me: 0:8: 5 jumps at Skydive the Point on Saturday 3 jumps at Chambersburg on Sunday Beer for the first time I've flown into a DZ to jump...took a Cessna 182 from northern Maryland and made it to West Point, VA in just over an hour!
  4. Sounds like your kind of jump Karen! I'd recommend getting the landing thing down first though...butt slides would get a hell of a lot more interesting!
  5. Yep...them were some painful ones to watch...how's your bum? And look on the bright side, at least you didn't break any nails...
  6. It sucks that you can't find a way to do it with just one layover...unfortunately Stewart doesn't have flights to too many places. I'd say that the cheaper flight AND the proximity to the DZ definitely makes it worth it though...particularly if you carry on your rig, b/c really, what else do you need??
  7. It probably isn't necessary and I've seen versions of the pro-pack that people roll instead of s-fold. Flipping it 180 degrees makes it easier to roll and contain the tail of the canopy as you roll it up...not sure what direction you would plan on rolling it if you didn't flip it 180 degrees...very difficult to describe without seeing. But from what I imagine you'd be trying to roll it from the top to the bottom which would require you to pick up the canopy as you go and make it very hard to contain... FWIW I've been psycho-packing since I got my new Safire2 (about 100 jumps now) and I've had no issues with the slider grommets or openings whatsoever...actually most of them are nicer than pro-packed openings.
  8. Definitely recommend Stewart...I used to live near there and could usually get cheaper (or just as cheap) flights in and out of there without the hassle of NYC. They have several car rental agencies in the airport too so never had a problem renting cars and actually got some pretty good deals on rentals there in the past. Good luck!
  9. Oh yes...super shots of Jager always make for a great weekend! Yeah...you're probably right...I guess I got spoiled last weekend when it was high 70s in Virginia! I'll just have to wait for it to get back up here...two trips to Florida and the PR boogie were definitely a great way to spend the "offseason"
  10. Could it be for your 1st gainer out of the back of the skyvan!?! Definitely some good times and jumps this weekend despite the cold and nasty weather! Where the f!$* is spring??
  11. awesome...that's what I've got in my back-up rig...great canopy, you'll love it good luck getting everything put together!
  12. Avg price should be somewhere between $75 and $125 depending on the rigger. Definitely watch and help them put everything together if they'll let you (which if they don't you should find someone who will). Another good idea would be to scotch guard the rig and allow it to dry before getting everything assembled. What main canopy did you end up going with?
  13. I've got a comp body suit from flite suit that rocks. Unique feature is the articulation in the knee which is awesome when you're sitting in a cramped plane. The fit is excellent but the wait time was about two months. I've never jumped a Tony but I've heard good things and from what I've seen at the DZ I'm sure you can't go wrong either way.
  14. 0:9: Gorgeous weather in VA this weekend! First 2-way sit fly at night

    Safire 2

I bought a new Safire2 169 in December and have absolutely loved it. It opens soft every time and I've never had it turn more than 90 degrees off heading on opening (unlike my Sabre2 that whipped around at least 90 or more every jump). The Pilot opens just as soft but isn't nearly as fun to fly as the Safire2. It is very responsive in the sky and has much lighter front riser pressure than the Sabre2. The flare is exceptionally strong and works great in a single or two stage flare. I have psycho packed and pro-packed and it opens just as well every time. There's absolutely nothing that I have found yet that I don't like about this canopy!
  16. I have jumped a Safire2 215 and 169 (about 150 jumps), Pilot 188 (about 100 jumps), and Sabre2 190 (about 50 jumps) The Safire2 is definitely my favorite of the three. It opens more consistently on heading than the Sabre2 (but not as consistently as the Pilot) and is just as fun to fly as the Sabre2. Figure out what you are looking for the most...if you want on heading openings, the Pilot should be your choice. If you want generally on-heading openings with the occasional 90 degree turn and a canopy that is a blast to fly and land, go with the Safire2!
  17. Damn...I was just about to throw up a pic of my new rig...
  18. I'll ride you any chance I get! Have fun in Sebastian you skank! Lucky for me all of their t-shirts are white!!!
  19. Actually yeah! I forgot to pick one up when I was there last month...or maybe it was because I was too busy jumping! Have fun!!!
  20. I only voted once you hoodrat! Gimme something good!!
  21. significant improvement...but looks like the "no's" have it! what do I win!?!?

    Freefly suit

Awesome...I think I'm going to go with an Ozone suit from LiquidSky...just gotta get measured up. It's cool that they have the youtube video...no questions about measurements. Thanks all for the input!
  23. I love it, thanks for sharing! Amusing how naive and influenced people can be by a message of "change"...seemed identical to me.
  24. I don't know about all that...I'm sure I can find something around here somewhere...
