  1. In the end, they asked me to leave because of something I hold valuable to myself and in return I wrote about it on my personal blog. We both made decisions. Good or bad - they'll live with their decision, I'll live with mine. -Eddie B (feel free to message) www.facebook.com/eddie.d.bryant
  2. What would I do if it was my business? First of all, I would have asked the Qatari's why it was offensive. After all, she didn't know why it was offensive, and even after I told her It means non'believer, she still wanted me to cover it. So the issue is not even that the tattoo is offensive. She didn't care what it said, she cared that it offended them, period. So, my answer would have been that I would have not made any call until I had more information. -Eddie B (feel free to message) www.facebook.com/eddie.d.bryant
  3. I never said that I was a civil rights person, I implied that religion and religious thought / speech is protected under civil rights act just as much as race is. -Eddie B (feel free to message) www.facebook.com/eddie.d.bryant
  4. The Qatari's had not said anything to me. -Eddie B (feel free to message) www.facebook.com/eddie.d.bryant
  5. http://www.cityoflakewales.com/airport/lwaa.shtml Her job title per the website is FBO. If FBO is not a govt. job then so be it, but the airport is public and she is managing it... -Eddie B (feel free to message) www.facebook.com/eddie.d.bryant
  6. You ask if she specifically said I had to leave or if she said I could not jump there. The answer is no, she did not say that. She said I had to cover it up or leave. You do the math. -Eddie B (feel free to message) www.facebook.com/eddie.d.bryant
  7. Well, since I am the guy that this happened to at Lake Wales, let me clarify some things. First of all, the tattoo was gotten mainly because of a friend who committed suicide due to PTSD, and wanted me to get the tattoo. I did not want to get it because I thought it was offensive, after he killed himself I talked to my cousin, who speaks 7 dialects and grew up in Yemen tell me that "The only people who would be offended by that tattoo would be people who follow Sharia Law", and that the tattoo simply means someone who has no faith. With those factors in play, that's why I got the tattoo - I love how people assume I got it because I wanted to be an asshole and start stuff. Also, I wasn't pissed off when Betty called me to the back to tell me that they were offended by my tattoo. I was because she didn't know WHY it was offensive, and after I told her I served in Iraq and Afghanistan and the tattoo represents my lack of faith, she still said I had to cover it up, and suggested duct tape. After that happened she told me I could cover it up or leave. So her statement saying I chose to leave is accurate. I chose to leave over choosing to cover it up with DUCT TAPE! All that being said, I later found out that Betty is also the Manager of the Airport.... A government employee, so when I was discriminated against for a religious statement - I was asked to leave the public airport by a governmental employee because of a tattoo that says my religious faith. (or lack thereof) So IDC if you guys want to think I got it to be an asshole, and to be quite frank it's irrelevant. If you go to England a fag is a cigarette, a lift is an elevator and a boot is a car trunk. In America it has a different meaning. We're in America, and Kafir or Infidel means One without faith. Last time I checked you could not discriminate or refuse service to someone based on religious belief. She could have kicked me out for any reason, but as soon as she said it was because of a tattoo that stated a religious belief, she was in the wrong. Moreso because she holds a dual govt. job at the same location. Funny, in the 1950's a black man goes into a whites only diner and they say that he did it to be an asshole and he got what he deserves. Point is, the actual reason behind the tattoo is irrelevant. It's a religious statement, and protected under the 1964 civil rights act. And when I made the blog it was meant to be seen by a group of about 10 friends who read my blog. I didn't expect it to go viral and have over 110,000 views in 48 hours. So my intent was to vent to a group of friends - -Eddie B (feel free to message) www.facebook.com/eddie.d.bryant

  10. I just want to say a few things. #1 due to the overwhelming opinions (and facts) that I received (and looked up via incident reports) I have emailed my dealer and they were able to give me a cypres 2 instead of the Vigil 2 for 100 dollars more. I hope I am happier with this choice, I definitely feel more at ease (after reading some of those incident reports) I've decided to keep my second point to myself. I thank you for all your responses. -Eddie B (feel free to message) www.facebook.com/eddie.d.bryant
  11. OK, this is my first (new) rig I've bought. I want to know your full opinion of the gear I bought dont hold anything back. Also I want to know if I got a decent deal. So you have a better idea to judge my gear by I have 79 jumps and I am 195 pounds. Ok, so I bought a Wings Container, Articulated harness, Cut in Laterals, custom colors (see pic) all stainless steel, a Safire 2, 209 main, a smart 189 reserve, with a vigil 2 AAD (I know I will get a lot of shit about buying a vigil (but I want to know why you think its good or bad) I paid just around 5800 for it. This includes shipping, completely assembled and packed, sent to my door. What do you think? (The safire 2 is a lime green with black cell walls) -Eddie B (feel free to message) www.facebook.com/eddie.d.bryant
  12. I just bougt a new rig (wings container, saffire 2 and smart reserve) with a vigil 2. I have never used a Vigil before always a cypres, but I liked the price, I liked the features (free fall speed, jump log etc) not to mention no MANDITORY (but voluntary) maintence. I am however a little worried as I hear that dragging your rig on the ground can cause a deployment, slamming your trunk etc... Im not to worried about these because I will just turn it off when Im done jumping and make sure I don't drag my rig. I am however worried about pre-mature deployment (cutting of the reserve loop) while in freefall, what if I'm doing a head down, or something that will cause me to break my neck if a reserve deploys. I hear vigils have been known to do that. Is this true, can anyone shead any light on this and if so has the problem been fixed? what has been done to fix this. I was tempted to call and cancel my order and instead get a cypres 2. Can someone calm my worries? -Eddie B (feel free to message) www.facebook.com/eddie.d.bryant
  13. Yea, he sold some gear for me quick--- got the payment and he took like 10% comission. Nice deal. (even met me to pick it up) -Eddie B (feel free to message) www.facebook.com/eddie.d.bryant
  14. Ok, first of all I know this will be locked out because I am posting for February, but you all will be able to read it. So here goes my idea... I currently serve in Afghanistan and will be taking vacation in February. I want to see if its possible to get a bunch of people to go to Dubai. The exact date is unknown... probably middle of February, for a week. I currently have 3 people interested to go with me. I have not checked with the DZ or anything to see if this is possible, but before I go through all that work I want to see how many people are interested. I will say this, I am going somplace warm to jump in February. If Dubai can't host I will find another DZ, so if you're interested in joining some safe yet crazy mo-fos for some winter/ warm weather jumping fun, shoot me a e-mail and I will add you to my "contact list" for when I get more info. I will send a e-mail with dates and stuff if you want to come you can reply and we can talk more. Let me know whats up [email protected] -Eddie B (feel free to message) www.facebook.com/eddie.d.bryant
  15. 90% of the people that jump at Eloy Az... Although I love that DZ- only because of the planes, and the amount of jumps you can do... People there usually suck ass. [[if you jump there, and this does not apply to you, you're in the 10%... Don't be pissed off, and if you are pissed off its because you know you're a "skygod".... Ditch the attitude]] -Eddie B (feel free to message) www.facebook.com/eddie.d.bryant
