  1. Since my first jump in 1976 through the last of the 2013 season each jump has been a blessing of physical, emotional, and spirutal fulfillment. Living life to the fullest of happiness. www.geronimoskydiving.com
  2. Still open in 1982 as I bought a Wonderhog Sprint from them. www.geronimoskydiving.com
  3. on the last one he said: "Ill be a normal; student on this one, You had some good training and wished I had gotten the same years ago. Actually had a little lady grab both my arms and went clonic.......a few scary seconds for me and a wake up call.
  4. We had these on our student Vectors and Dolphins in the 90's. Worked great with no problems on our DZ. www.geronimoskydiving.com
  5. Here is smething very curious: A flintlock primitive pistol is a restricted firearm in Canada. www.geronimoskydiving.com
  6. Actually for long guns you can own some weapons here that will get you twenty years in the states. My complaint as a competitve handgun shooter is that anyone who owns a handgun is considered a potential criminal and you are not allowed to fire you handun on your own property..........you are required to have a transportation permit and only permitted to fire it at an approved range. www.geronimoskydiving.com
  7. Wow, pranks on jumps - it is all fun and games until someone gets killed. Have seen too many over the years with some funny but with too many dangerous and often downright mean. In the 70's guys would stuff your sleeve with empty beer bottles and cans giving you a nice garbage shower over your PC. Another trick was to white-knuckle a RW novice by hanging on and going low. Hooking up someones canopy backwards was another trip....not so bad with round canopies since you usually backed into the target anyways. And who can forget dropping M-80's under canopy. On the lighter and safer side of pranks, on a New Years Eve jump the fellows dropped their light sticks on opening giving the illusion of everyone going in.
  8. Got my A and then my D, skipped the B & C. www.geronimoskydiving.com
  9. Years ago my limit was how exciting high winds and gusts could make the jump but today my limit is 15mph max with no gusts. www.geronimoskydiving.com
  10. Long time competitive rifle & pistol shooter add that to my first personal computer a Compaq = Gunpaq. www.geronimoskydiving.com
  11. Oh noooooooo! www.geronimoskydiving.com
  12. Congratulations Venessa! Great DZ and folks to jump with. www.geronimoskydiving.com
  13. Remembering those days when you looked over you shoulder to steer your canopy. Jumping the modified C-9's and T-10's the max was 12 to 15mph for us while the guys with PC's boasted their 24mph line in the sand. Bought my first PC from Dave DeWolf in the 70's, a reall nice pretty red one and a dandy for demos.......wished I had kept it. www.geronimoskydiving.com
  14. All is well that ends well. Thankfully no one was killed and a valuable lesson learnded. Bignugget, thanks for sharing your friend's experience as it is a safety reminder to us all. www.geronimoskydiving.com
  15. Used to have a lot of weird dreams as a student in the 70's. On our DZ during that time dream advice was to wake up before impact otherwise you would die of a heart attack in your sleep.......nothing like playing mind games with with students. For several nights after a total malfunction (pack closure) and a low reserve opening (24' chest "OUCH!") I had dreams about going in and would wake up startled in a sweat. Getting tired of this, one night in the same dream scenario I decided to go for it and burn in........well upon impact I bounce up into the air a thousand feet and repeated impacting and bouncing up again until I woke up in a startled sweat but this time in fear that I could get hurt from repeated bouncing. :) :) :) Today my skydiving dreams come from looking at new $$$ gear in catalogues. www.geronimoskydiving.com
  16. Aventador go for your dreams but you would be well advised to be 110% committed to hard work, being disciplined, professional, and excelling in your skill of packing. A lot of DZ's are looking for 2014 staff at this time so best to contact them now with your resume of experience and skills. Arriving in Canada on a visitor visa without financial means and looking for work on the barter system at a DZ will get you deported for one year. Its very easy to obtain a temporary work permit for what you want to do so do thing the right way and avoid problems. Good luck. :) www.geronimoskydiving.com
  17. Too often gear checks are just a quick glance often prior to boarding. To be human is to error. To error on a gear check is inhuman. www.geronimoskydiving.com
  18. That DZ maybe The Crossroads Skydivers who operated on the Ray Beiler farm with the green & white checkerboard barn roof near Glenmoore, PA and later at the Speakman farm along Route 322 west of Downingtown near Brandywine Manor. As a kid I used to watch them jump from our farm nearby. Later when I was old enough to jump bought my first rig from one of the former members, a sweet B-4 w/28-7TU. Still have one of the clubs jumpsuits and patch. The club fell victim to the local fun police. www.geronimoskydiving.com
  19. Ditto My thought as well. Each jumper at our DZ was received a warning and given mandatory remedial safety training. This is a fun and exciting sport but unforgiving for those who make a careless mistake. www.geronimoskydiving.com
  20. We had two incidents at our DZ in 15 years where a jumper exited the aircraft without his chest strap secured and properly routed. The first case the jumper lossed and his harness and undid hi chest strap for comfort on the ride up. The other case the jumper misrouted the chest strap and upon a RW exit his chest strap came undone in the opposing jumpers hand. In both cases the jumpers executed a stable opening and were retained within their harness as they normally would. The first guy realize what happened untill he noticed that his harness main lift webs were further apart under canopy. Check, check, check, and then check again. Scary stuff. www.geronimoskydiving.com
  21. Hi Bill, Still have my first new rig, your WonderHog Sprint w/2,500+ jumps and my first Vector w/bookoo jumps as well. Both still airworthy but sit on the rack in my loft as fond reminders of jumps past. Thanks. www.geronimoskydiving.com
  22. Remember when gear was less than $200 for a complete rig. Here is an ad from July 1967 found in Skydiver Magazine. www.geronimoskydiving.com
  23. No it isn't. HTH Stumpy, what I wrote on the post was the following: “The statement that disease is a product of sin is correct but one has to understand that this statement in context within the Christian faith refers to the original sin of Adam in the beginning of time and not the person who is afflicted by the disease.” Please when quoting someone use the complete statement or phrase that they have made. www.geronimoskydiving.com
