What a fantastic event Paige and Ari did a great job organizing everything. Attending this event would have been worth it by itself, being able to raise money for breast cancer is a great bonus! Was very nice to meet a bunch of cool new people, and to catch up with some I haven't seen for awhile. The girls were rocking! Very fun to watch. I'm still impressed by Shannon nailing her sitfly immediately. On the guys side, I was by far the least experienced flyer and was worried about holding everybody back, but Ari had a great plan to keep it fun for all. Thanks to Ari, Ramsey, and Danager for the coaching and help! I learned lots of cool new stuff. I'll definitely be putting this event on my calendar for next year. -- Hook high, flare on time

Recently, I found myself at a new exit which I found to be a bit low for my FF tastes so I decided to change over to an unpacked jump. Luckily for my slack-unpacked-ass there was plenty of room for me to take my rig off and change over, but there are also a couple of other interesting exits in the area that are pretty much unpacked/SL only, for me. I suppose what I'm really looking for is setup ideas to be able to climb conveniently (hopefully with standard deployment system intact,) yet still have a relatively easy way to convert to unpacked, with low-ish exposure to those not involved, while sitting on a narrow catwalk without taking the container off. In case it matters, I jump velcro. P.S. I always carry a couple of lengths of break cord with me, now. Thanks in advance. -- Hook high, flare on time

How about a light-weight nylon circle (large enough to cover the mesh plus some) with a grommet in the center. Thread the bridle through it, pack it at the bridle attachment on the canopy, and after deployment it floats to the PC and kills the drag. Off the top of my head it wouldn't work with velcro closed rigs though. -- Hook high, flare on time

I had the exact same thing happen to me on a rig freshly made from the factory in January of 02. Pulled the cutaway cables and they were black black with gunk. Had to clean with Silicone sprayed on a clean rag, replace, and recheck 3 times before they started coming out clean. -- Hook high, flare on time

Niiiice, It's Christmas Day!

I've had a Dell Inspiron 8600 Notebook for about a year now. Came with Firewire port, 1 PCMIA slot, onboard 802.11(a)(b), A/V output (but you have to use a silly adapter), 2 USB ports, and an IR Port (didn't know about that until I found out I had to turn it on in BIOS ) I didn't listen to Billvon about processor speed and opted for the 1.6 so it could stay Centrino... Hindsight It did come with a touchpad (which I never use unless I don't feel like plugging in the mouse) and one of those pencil eraser tips that I don't use at all. They are out of the way though and don't interfere with my normal usage. Also, for myself I prefer notebook computers for ease of movement when, if needed. This past summer I spilled a phat Jack and Coke on it and it stopped working ($799 US.) Then another unexplained issue about a month ago (out of warranty, $799.) Now my computer won't charge the battery (get an error message during boot saying soemthing like unidentified AC adapter) So I'm now limited to the 20th century and have to have the thing plugged in to use it. So they billed me ($190 US) for a new power adapter and battery, but I can return whicheve is not the problem. Best of luck in your search. If you happen to find a Class A/B motorhome in good shape for a nice price I'd appreciate leads. Also, somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but if you have a copy of Windows XP and are switching computers, can't you use the same copy on the new one so long as you don't use the old one anymore?
