  1. I've had this one for almost 10 years now so I'd be screwed, not to mention stupid to lose her. Plus I already have one ex. It would scare the hell out of me to have two.
  2. Thanks for the heads up nightingale. She thought about the pool for a moment then the thought of a couple hundred dirty old skydiving dudes checking here out in her bikini kind of freaked her out. She's pretty hot and i'm really lucky. Actually my son has done the windtunnel and had a blast. check it out here http://gotgravity.com/2008/03/04/little-man-in-a-wind-tunnel/ You may have noticed by the change in the thread subject that things are cooling off on the home front. Finally getting past the "it's fine". I hate when women say that.
  3. I like to think that I'm pretty fair when it comes to things like this. As an example after this trip I'm taking a few days off to watch the little one while she visits her sister. I she usually comes out ahead. Examples I got my aff, she got a new Ford Edge I got my A License, she got a new Mac book pro We also make sure not to leave the little one out. He got a trip to Lego land. We're pretty blessed (and spoiled) so I know it's not the $$. She only got pissed when I mentioned that I was going to camp out there overnight instead of driving 100 miles back home then turnaround and drive 100 miles back to the DZ.
  4. Have you asked her what it is? Yea, but she is beating around the bush giving me the "it's fine, go ahead and go". She says it's being away for a night that tweaks her. I think she stumbled onto the "chicks Rock - Elsinore" boogie info site and has it in her mind that there is going to be just a ton of hot naked girls at the boogie.
  5. I did, but the temps in Perris are suppose to be around 100 and she was not into that. Up until it started getting hot both her and my son would be at the DZ with me all the time.
  6. Alo DZ.com'ers. I know this is dangerous, but I wanted to get some of your opinions on something. How does your wife or significant other react when you go off to a boogie, even if only for a couple of days? I’m relatively new to the sport, just got my A license a few weeks ago, and up until this point my wife has been very supportive of me skydiving. There just seems to be something about a boogie that is tweaking her.
  7. So I decided to skip work and go jump. I was able to get 3 jumps in, my A license test, beers for everyone and thrown into the pool! See ya at the DZ!
  8. I'm also most there. Just two more jumps and I will have the A license. I'm planning on getting these two done in about two weeks, but the idea of skipping work right now and heading out to Perris is almost unbearable.
  9. I went to a local car stereo shop and got an in-line FM Modulator. What this does is basically intercepts your antenna connection and for the given frequency it actively blocks receiving this frequency from the antenna so that it doesn't interfere. They will cost you a few bucks more ($75 installed) but will do the trick.
  10. I find the only time demanding aspect of the sport is my insane desire to get back up there as soon as possible. Also the fact that in the days leading up to a jump, and a few days after, it consumes 40%-90% of my thoughts. I work on avgerage 70hrs a week and travel at least one week a month and have not had a hard time finding a day to go jump. If you want it you will find the time. The best advice I could give would be to try and involve your family as much as possible. I skydive at Perris which has a great facility with a play area for the kids and a pool. My wife refuses to jump, but she enjoys coming out and just watching and talking with others. My sons plays with the other kids and has already done a spell in the windtunnel. With regards to the cost, it will depend on many factors. What I choose to do is focus on is what it is going to cost for the jumps I want to do this month and next month and don't worry about what the end cost will be. For me it is the ultimate stress reliever and therefore a lot cheaper than a therapist.
  11. If you are ever in the LA area I highly recommend you see Point Break Live. It's a spoof play based up the movie and the pick Keanu's character out of the office. here is a link - http://www.theatermania.com/content/show.cfm/section/synopsis/show/128881
  12. I asked my instructor a similar question before my first solo. He said to do whatever I felt most comfortable with. At the time I'd already done a diving exit (most common, used for A license dive) and climbed out on the outside (otter) and did a foating exit. He also said if i wanted to just grab my ankle and roll out of that sucker. ultimately i choose to dive out, and have done so for the 4 jumps since my solo. I figure I want to get good on this one for my a license jump. Blue skies!!
  13. Welcome simon and congrats on 5 and 6 Chubba. Your definately correct when you say that it only gets better. At the end of march I completed stage 8 of the AFF program and have jumped two RW's with my instructor and 7 solo jumps since then. Just working on that proficiency card. It is definately an addicting sport. I travel alot and I've already visited (not jumped) 4 DV's in two states. Just plotting my future course. Welcome and see you at the DZ. Blue Skies!!
  14. The facility and people are great out at Perris, although I'm biased as this is the only DZ I've jump so far. Look forward to seeing you there soon.
  15. Sweet thanks for the big welcome everyone. Latest update. I've now passed my AFF (8 Stage / 8 Jumps) and just did my first solo jump this past weekend (and yess did buy a round for the bar). Look forward to seeing everyone at the DZ
