  1. Great story. Except that oxygen bottles don't burn. Artistic license and all though. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  2. By your logic everyone who jumps a canopy smaller than their student/training canopy will fall prey to the overwhelmingly arrogant/ridiculous Marisan Priciple. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  3. Exceptionally skillful of you to keep your main pc/bridle from entangling with your reserve. Would have made cool video though. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  4. Bah humbug. My suit's better than your suit. Happy fucking Christmas my ass. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  5. Honestly I don't know if there has been an increase in AAD-assisted deployments in the past couple of years, I don't know if statistics like that are available. If there has been an increase of say 15% in the last 2-3 years I'd have to call it an anomaly, I don't think much has changed in only 2-3 years. If lengthy deployments are causing more AAD fires it should show up over a much longer period. Intuitively I'd say today's average canopy opens slower than the average 10-15 years ago but again I don't believe that there's any hard data to back that up. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  6. Seriously, is there a problem? Have significant numbers of "incidents" been attributed to low pulls? Has that number suddenly increased? Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  7. Wow, that's some sweet skydiving. Solid exits, patient flying. Very nice.
  8. and i tell you one thing; pulling low repeatedly is a sure-fire way of killing yourself. everyone with just a TAD of intellect can figure that one out himself. *** Well, I guess you thought of all the possible factors including defining low. Useless drivel. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  9. Demo a Katana. Demo a Stiletto. Etc. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  10. That'd be a moot point. But more to the point, who determines what loading is acceptable? Manufacturer guidelines are obviously and necessarily conservative. I jump an original Sabre at 1.9+, somewhat beyond it's design loading I believe. Who's to say I shouldn't do that? As far as I'm concerned it's entirely up to me. It's certainly not your decision. One thing we agree on, who cares what the tipping point is. A highly loaded but conservative canopy vs a lighter loaded aggressive canopy, completely up to the user. And no two people will have the same opinion of where the curves cross if in fact they do. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  11. Here ya go. http://www.stripperwear.com/sheer-clothes-and-mesh-dresses.html Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  12. Pretty bold move being the definer of the term. So in turn I submit that if you can't gain altitude you're not flying, only gliding. So nobody flies. If you're in an aircraft you aren't flying, you're riding in an aircraft. Regular skyjumping is falling. Wingsuits are gliders. Paragliders and hang gliders are aircraft. Looks to me like the birds are still the only ones doing the flying. Sometimes you eat the bear..............

    V4

Generally I'd agree. In this case I was looking for input from people who had recently received a V4. I do understand though that orders put in now might not take as long as orders put in six months ago if production has ramped up. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  14. PG wingovers require some outside brake to keep that from happening. Fortunately the result of an asym on a PG isn't quite so violent. Holy crap. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  15. I don't believe that the OP's post had anything to do with swooping. If I read you right you believe that the reaction to a landing head-on needs to be instinctive. So do I. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  16. Using a line like that makes you an official old fart. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  17. Thanks John, that's a mal I hadn't heard of. Excellent example of how the little things can be significant. Sometimes you eat the bear..............

    V4

Thanks Kris, good to hear from ya! I've heard that some suits are out over 6 months, I'd like to think that PF will change that. Sometimes you eat the bear..............

    V4

Does anyone know what the current lead time is on a V4? Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  20. What is the penalty you're referring to? Incidentally I never found it necessary to tack soft links from either PD or Precision, I don't know about Aerodyne's links. I did tack a set once using something lightweight from my wife's sewing room, the tacks held up fine and were easy to remove later, also it had occurred to me that lightweight thread was good so if for any reason stress was put on the tack it would easily break. Then again I'm not a rigger. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  21. Roger that with two caveats: Near the end of your swoop you're probably transitioning to toggles anyway. Also the transition to toggles from rears is fast, easy and you can't miss as the toggles are already in hand. Number three rears don't slow you down and diminish your energy nearly as much as brakes. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  22. I have three rigs with dynamic corners and I believe that they can help. OTOH my second jump on a rig that had just been modified with dynamic corners ended up a cutaway. Like a lot of mods they're an aid not a solution. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  23. Been there. Toggle flat turn to the right was a lifesaver. You're already on toggles, no time to switch to rears and if there was time and you missed it would be ugly. Also using toggles (brakes) slows the whole thing down, more time and less energy. Seriously a no-brainer. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  24. The canopy is yours, mark it in any way you please. Keep in mind that any canopy that has had enough use that the label is "totally worn off" isn't likely to be worth big bucks. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
