  1. It might be hard to patent because of the difference between the designs. Patrick had his design and I believe that Adrian is flying something similar. But Robert & Jari's suits are different in cut away system, zipper placement. They probably have very different airfoil sections. The Skyflyer is very different than the classic 1. The only specs they share is the fact there are Ram air wings with cells attached to a zip in suit. Loic has his design which is more like an all body envelope with some cells in the outer wings. This would describe his original crossbow and the S-fly. The matter wings are similar in planeform but utilize the body portions also as an airfoil and have more developed wingcells. None share a similar cut away system, a leg stow type system, materials or hardware are mostly unique to the individual manufactures. The creators of each of these designs are not sitting rich on profits or royalties to guard or protect. In the very small world of skydiving products there is this tiny segment of wingsuit customers. So its a limited market. We are lucky that wingsuit designers are more inovators and artists that use their own products. We get to go along for the ride.
  2. Tonto its really hard to say. Like Lou said you can be suprised by first timers. Yesterday we had a young lightweight lady that spiralled down out the door then 10 seconds later she was up with us and had some more float available. She was not an anvil. There were three of us on S-3s. To answer your question I think a GTI will do it for you or the S3. If she is on a classic or GTi and you are on a matter1 or crossbow type she will out drive you. I'm not sure if the matter1 is still being made. BUT in the matter2 she will never escape you and they are cheaper than the S-3.
  3. The american way is also maxing out all of your credit cards..... or is this the skydiver way? I forget.
  4. Alrighty then, which discs are the favs?
  5. Chemical brothers.... or crystal method?
  6. Leanna quigley, or something like that, yes I remember her well. X punk rocker that wanted to keep getting naked in B movies. Wonder what she is doing now that the misfits are back together?
  7. I've seen 4-ways practice on creepers requiring helmets or really soft shoes.
  8. Well I own and jump a 120 and a 135. Have jumped a 150 and a 105 loaners. I have swapped my 28 cazer and RI 26 PC back and forth ( no diff ) Dump in a track, dump in a wing suit track, dump from a HD, dump on my back sub terminal hop & pop. Long stow bites or free stow after the lockers ( no diff ) grab the rears or not ( again no diff ) Again all of the above no diff on how they open. They all opened nice they only impact I can make is how "tight" I roll the tail. From soft opening to scary for students " they would have cut the thing away by now" and I have video of those. I don't modify any of my gear to achieve the results I want in an opening and My usage is diverse to say the least. If you want next time i'm in Kansas i can show you how to pack.
  9. She didn't have talk "dirty" this time did she?
  10. I'm sure you will make a fantastic wingsuiter Brian!
  11. Did you guys get alot of that when you first started flying them? Yes, I did as I only had about 220 jumps when I started with wingsuits. A bunch of us got started at the same time, most had between 300 and 500 jumps. Almost exclusively they all fly bigger spectre canopys. So I got more than my fare share of you are going to die, not from them but others on the DZ. Since I had the fewest jumps and am on a smallish elliptical. Now fast forward several hundred jumps a good portion on wingsuits and its all good. I get some good remarks about my flights now instead of you are going to die sucker.
  12. Tony that suit looks CLEAN. We were buying old Bird-man demos for 500 bucks and I've seen basket cases that were still flyable go for 300. All of them still a good bargain. You can't buy a good used canopy for the price. Your picture backs up my statement. Don't worry about the other DZ naysayers. many people are barely comfortable in their own skin in freefall, let alone nylon wings. Those that dare know how natural it really is. As far as flocking partners Phree is quite the midwest rover. I don't know if he gets up your way or not though. If you can make it to Rantoul or any of the other summer boogies that will either have bird-man or other flockers it will worth your time in sheer enjoyment. Then the true power of your new drug will be realized.
  13. i didnt downplay the classic. I was JUST asking her why she chose it. In that case I'm curious too, why katie?
  14. I have been led to believe that the comp version had a softer opening and the ability to dive more but landed the same. I don't believe the discription "flys bigger" applied to the flare. I'm having mine H-moded so it will be a while before I can compare it to its old self.
  15. I've never jumped a X-fire but could your brake lines be too short for the amount of riser stroke you are applying? Are X-fires factory brake lines too short like many other factory stock brake settings?
  16. I flew in mike alfa to Rantoul last summer. There is another all aluminum DC-3 out there too but they are parked on a private lot somewhere else and not at perris.
  17. I will chase gear ( and have done so ) I will land out with someone else ( and again have done so in the past ) I will not follow someone into a bad landing situation thats guaranteed to make it a double trouble situation, why add to the burden of the first responders? Survival is a personal situation and a mandatory responsibility. I will also not follow someone who is doing all of the wrong things in order to make it back. Set an example if you made it back they can too, show them how afterward.
  18. Don't down play the classic, we have technical flocks with guys in classics that really work the S-3 flyers equally. Remember body type and skill play an equal role in performance. I would rather fly with current classic pilot that has their heart into it than the casual S-3 owner who just puts it on his or her rig for the occasional flight.
  19. For $400 you got in cheap. New suits are from 700- 1200. Some people have several and keep buying more. For your price you got alot of drug for the money. But to get the most from your investment be creative, join flocks. You get out what you put in. Don't just bore holes in the sky.
  20. Maybe by the time the birdman boogie in Eloy comes around I'll be on "the crack" as well... Iwan Why wait till then, come on down to the memorial/ wingsuit boogie at Perris. It should be a little more wingsuit-suitable. Less skydiver traffic overall but more wingsuit traffic and wingsuit specific related activities. Our pilots work very well with the extra needs of wingsuit flyers. You will not be disappointed.
  21. Matt I've never flown a GTI but I can get a consistant 54-53 in both my classic and my S-3. If I'm solo I can bust into the upper or mid fourties on my S-3 ( which really isn't as tight as a real S-3 ). The S-3 just flys forward faster for the same vertical numbers. Protracs are a tool but they can be fooled the best method really is flying with some good friends regularly so you can compare performance.
  22. I try not to have any hard and fast rules about gear. But when it comes to your cut away housings my opinion is to have this upgraded asap. I am assuming you are refering to the chanels your cables travel through around the yolk and down through your mudflaps on your container right? As in older gear? If you are only refering to the few inches in your main risers that the extra cable fits into then it goes back to many other personal factors.
  23. MOST of the traffic will going the other way. But be advised our "light traffic" can be evil by other peoples standards.
