Who's flown one and how much better is it than the original ? ( just a little or a lot
  2. I agree with Lurch...Amy is beautiful ;) !
  3. I had the same problem and that's what Tony said too. He also said you can use Scotchgard on the outside fabric to help it regain back some of it's porosity.
  4. I was thinking about that as well. I just stitched up the wing vents on my V4 and it slowed it down and made it floatier , the pull is just as easy as before. It still doesn't have the pressure of a tonysuit though.
  5. Please allow me to clarify. The original post stated a jump number "hard line " of 1000. (I'm not advocating sub 200 or 500 jump numbers here either, which for some reason everyone seems to have automatically assumed ) I 'm just saying the skillset should be evaluated individually . Yeah, let's go for a RW, freefly and a track jump and see just how heads up you are. I just think numbers don't always tell the whole story. Of course the percentages go up with numbers, but don't we owe it to ourselves to be that much better ?
  6. I'm not following you here - how are you suppose to acquire skills from these activities ? My point exactly. numbers do not equal skills.
  7. The only problem is , numbers mean nothing. Skillset should be evaluated individually.
  8. I flew a Prodigy and am now on a Phantom. For me, I control the AOA with the leg wing using my stomach muscles to raise or lower it. My head position on the horizon let's me know where I'm at. If I'm flying flat my legwing is almost all the way stretched and I'm really pushing down on it. Head is level with the horizon. For distance (steep) legs in a bit, letting the air push the legwing up a little, still controlling it, head below the horizon.

    Troll MDV

I have a Troll MDV 265 . Great canopy. Have only jumped it from the P-Rine. It's the only BASE canopy I have jumped. All slider down . Easy to sink it in, even with a tailwind. Nice flare. Responsive. Good glide . I weigh 165 lbs.
  13. Don't forget, with Hanwags you can kick big holes in a wall and it doesn't hurt
  14. Yo Skin, On the smokers , what kind of pants do you start out with ? How many holes and where do you make them? Have you got any pics ? What kind of prizes do you give out ?
  15. Sum1 , glad you had a safe jump. Hanwags rock the house. They are a bit pricey , but nothing compared to a consult and xray. I just got back from my FJC with JU. While scoping the LZ at TF, I asked if there are any gopher holes? They all laughed at me.
  16. After reading the post on toggles vs. risers and then Tom's post with DW's techniques on both rears then on both front and rear I was wondering if anyone has ever gone for both front and rear (same side) right off the bat and how the canopy turned ? This is how the 2 line foil stunt kites turn.
  17. Johnny started us all out on riser turn drills, we were doing 90's and 180's. In the course he said you want to develop a "For Sure Toggle Grab" I was on a Troll 265 MDV . Naked weight 175 lbs. I had the Morpheus Big Grabs and those handles were always wide open waiting for me to grab them. He also told us about a negative type turn which can be induced by releasing both brakes holding the one all the way down and the other fully up while the canopy rotates on it's yaw axis. We saw a vid of a pilot tarding off a low B, he started to correct a 90 (potential strike) with risers, the canopy hadn't yet developed enough airspeed to start flying and the risers stalled that side putting the whole thing it into a parachutal stall. Riser turns have a much higher sink rate than toggles. I think it really depends on the situation and it's good to have everything in your bag of tricks.
  18. 6 of us arrived Sunday afternoon in TF for Johnny Utah's BC' 04 Spring Session. Brian , Dennis ( Straight out of Deutschland ), Matt , Omar ( Top Shelf El Presidente Margarita , please ), Jamie ( I'm Rick James..Bitch ) and myself ( The Beer Enforcer ) Monday morning we hit it hard, ground schooling and packing. Late afternoon we were in the pool practicing our step off exits. After that we headed out to do our PCA's. Were we pumped. What a day ! Following days brought on fine tuning our pack jobs, more ground school, flight paths, weather conditions, heading correction drills, different exits (floater , side floater ) gear / maintenance . Johnny covered it all. At the end of each day we'd be back at his place debriefing and watching the days jumps. By the end of the week we all left with at least 17 jumps. It was unreal ! The weekend brought in alot of jumpers and got to meet some great people. Saturday was pretty much blown out , boat Captain Don Mays and crew put on a great BBQ and raffle. Everyone had a great time. Props out to Don and all the manufacturers and everyone who contributed to the raffle, making it a sweet day. Sunday brought in some winds late morning to late afternoon , as they started to die everyone was back on it. The day ended with a sunset load with everyone on the bridge . Thanks again for everything Johnny (Marcia and Trevor too ! ) I'd also like to thank local boyz Tom, Jamie and some guy named Ray for all their help and of course Megan for driving us all over and shooting vid. Also, the Shilo Inn for always keeping a packing room available for us.

    Driving to TF

Which route would you recommend if going thru SLC on the drive to TF ? 15 to 84 to TF or 15 to 80 to 93 to TF Thanx
  21. Steve, I know what you mean. Between "Point Break" ,"Dropzone" and "Cutaway" there's really not much need for AFF.
  22. Heads Down. Ok here's how I did it . Watch the movie "Cutaway" with Berenger and Baldwin about 10 times. Don't laugh, there is one scene when Turbo and Vic (Vic blacks out for a few seconds) are racing to the 8 way. Watch it closely, Baldwin goes right from belly to heads down. Burn that shot into your mind. Next step go jump, make sure your the last freeflyer out before the Tandems, give plenty of separation. Fly a stable belly , from there , go into a track (but don't look at the horizon, look at the ground) That should bring you 3/4's of the way heads down. To finish it off bend at the waist while letting you feet come over the top , open your legs up a bit and feel the air. Most of all relax and let it happen. Stay perpendicular of jump run. Maintain altitude awareness and be sure and go back to belly and slow down before throwing out.
  23. >>What stops me just ignoring you and jumping anyway ? Who are you to say if they can jump or not .>What stops me flying my paraglider anywhere I like, any time I like ? Licensed sites or not.
