The only thing i can add to what has been said is be ready to skydive at all times. I have my helmet on my head or chest stap at all times. I am always ready to exit!!!!!!!!. That is sad. The TM's at my DZ are very friendly. I must say from what you are describing and others have before, I and other up jumpers at my DZ talk and joke with tandem students more than some TM's at some other DZ's. The DZ before the one im at (which is no longer in buis.) was so bad that no one would talk to you unless you where paying for it (training/jumping). I hate people that treat other people like that. I have 3 girls 2, 3, and 11. I'm 29. My wife dont jump and didnt care for me jumping at first, but i told her it wasnt an option. I try to jump every friday, and if not then every other for sure. But i would not trade anything in the world for my girls (except maybe my wife). Just dont forget what you have waiting for you at home. It is more important than anything you can find on a DZ!!!!!! Trackers would normally go after freeflyers and before student/tandem. I would advise you find a good tracker at your dz and ask him to lead a track dive with you and him, to learn more. If you are going solo tracking or with anybody i personally spend a few secounds making sure which way jump run is. Tracking can be one of the most dangerous disiplens for a begenner. Secound i would not advise you to start working on your sit untill you are stable back flying. Back flying is you safety position if you start to come out of your sit. If you only learn sit and fly with other it could be bad news if you cork. I promise if you do that they may never fly with you agian. Sitflying and back flying are best to learn with a good free flyer with you, or in tunnel. If you do practice freeflying by your self you should first let the group in front of you and behind you that are learning to freefly. Give the guys in front of you extra 3-5 secounds before you exit. Ask an instuctor, extra time will change depending on winds. Term life is the way to go! Whole life sucks PERIOD! Lets use example above 30 year old gets 30 year term policy for 10-20 dollars a mounth. Whole life maybe 100-110 a mounth it does EVENTUALLY mature But the extra money for the whole life policy is invested @ a rate of like 3-5%, if you get term and invest the extra $90 in a good stock mutual fund with a good 10 year track record then you will make say 10-15 %. By the time your term policy is up you will be self insured. If an agent trys to sell you whole life then run from them cuase they are ethier stupid or misinformed! Nothing opens like a Deere! I dont have an attitude! I just know it is a shity product! From the way you are responding i beleive you were just misinformed, as most insurance agents/reps have been for many years. If you look at the ROI whole life sucks beyond belief. Most people dont study it including agents. BTW these rates are not for skydivers but life insurance in general, but they aply % wise in general. Edit to add the reason it is still sold today is becuase insurance agents (and insurance companys ) make more off these type of pollices than term life insurance. Nothing opens like a Deere! I am not licensed in any of the above but i do now the facts. The average insurance agent is just as you described ( in it for the money ). Whole life is one of the WORST financial products on the market today. There is never a time when it is financially wise to have a whole life policy. The only time you should have whole life is if you already have one and can’t get any other form of life insurance. Only if you’re stuck with it should you have whole life. For example, a 30-year-old person can buy a $125,000 whole life policy for $100 a month. That same person can buy a 20-year term policy for $7 a month and invest the remaining $93 dollars in a mutual fund that pays a LOT higher interest rate than some whole life policy. Lets see 3-4 % max compared to 14-15 % average stock maket gain for 50 + years Which one do you want?????? There has not been a 10 year period of the stock market that has not gained. I am self employed, contruction at that. My buis. has slowed down, but not to much. I personally have quit jumping as many times per day (8-12 times) as i did before my buis. slowed down. But i did buy 100 block tickets that should last me 3 or 4 mounths incase my buis. gets worse. But i will find a way to feed my family and jump. Nothing opens like a Deere! You ignorant fool! I have to agree with you that is not the most noticeable place for warning's. A warning should be the first thing you see, for instance warning about dangers of skydiving on parachutes, wavers, and anything else skydiving. Before you say this is not about skydiving NO SHIT! If you skip a NOTICABLE WARNING THEN YOU ARE A DUMB ASS!!!!!!! I personally have never bout any thing from DZ.com. But if i had i would not fallen for this type of add. BTW sorry to the OP.
