  1. The first "15 second" was actually 20 seconds and the second "15 second" was 18 seconds. I would be making you do those over . Great job!

  3. Not today, I am icing a snore knee right now after flaring 5 feet too high in 0 winds today and eating dirt. This was my 6th jump after 8 year layoff and 4th on my new canopy. I forgot what it is like to land in 0 winds and how hot you come in and was not focus a 100%.
  4. I'm not going to shout at anyone, but I do wonder if the canopy was stuffed in there like a brick. I have a 170 hybrid in my wings that was built for a 150 zp, and I have experienced one minor PC in tow, which I think can be attributed to the mismatch in container/canopy. Does not look like an issue with canopy or container size. Appears to me that there where two issues. 1) The bridle snags the ripcord housing or something on the bottom of the container. 2) Very weak drag from the pilot chute. Kill line not cocked or too small pilot chute?
  5. My Pilot seems to always open with some end cell closure on the left side. So I am always prepared and grab the rear risers on opening and steer on heading and use the rear risers to get the end cell(s) to open.
  6. They cut holes on each side of their shirts and routed their chest strap under the front of the shirt.
  7. I only have two jumps on mine but so far I like it. The slow speed canopy warnings are nice. Just be sure to read the entire manual after you get it and then go through the setup a few time.
  8. Think you can do this on just about any canopy. I spun up a 320 sq Man-O-War (.7 loading) on my 10th jump at 4k feet. There has also been a few fatalities over the years from people spinning up their canopies at a low altitude.
  9. Quite normal to have end cell closure on soft opening canopies. You should be able to catch it right after/on opening with the rear risers, correct any heading changing you have from it and pump the rear risers to get the end cell to inflate.

  11. Sounds like a very good idea to me. The only problem is that you need someone that can actually TEACH people how to land their canopies better. Pretty much every skydiver can tell you the proper way to land a canopy, they just cannot do it correctly themselves. The only way to really address this is through a canopy control course with instruction and video feedback. The part thats really absurd is that people have no problems spending insane amounts of cash on tunnel time or coaching but won't spend a few hundred dollars and a day or two to learn how to fly and land their canopy better. 2/3rds of the skydive is spent under canopy yet the average skydiver devotes little to no time at furthering their understanding of flying a canopy past what they learned during AFF. I learned to jump here in AZ out at Desert Skydiving Center. The landing area there is extremely hard compacted desert (concrete) covered in small gravel and rocks. After a couple of crash landings you learn very quickly how to land your canopy.
  12. Eloy is only 1500' elevation, but could be quit a bit different for folks coming from sea level and more windy places. Summer time always makes for fun landing here in AZ, landing in 110 degree zero wind weather is always fun .
  13. I have a new Pilot 188 in a Icon I6 and its a bitch to pack. Not so hard bagging the canopy I just find it hard to get the Icon closed and looking good. The main container compartment seems short and shallow. So I am having to try and bag my canopy flat and wide. If I get too much canopy on one side of the bag the side main flap on the opposite side gets wrinkles. As far as slipperiness the Pilot feels the same as all the new PD ZP canopies I have packed.

The BMI was developed back in the 50's/60's and is NOT an accurate reflection of adiposity. 99% of bodybuilders would flunk the BMI. http://www.ironbodies.com/modules/bmi-indicator/ At most the OP would need to lose 5-10 lbs in order to meet the 300# TSO of most standard sports gear today. I have a rig in the classroom (VIII, PDr 281, PD300 Main) with about 40 jumps on it that we have just for the Anvil students. Tink: A tandem rig.... again; not necessary.   17. well...i could easily call this guy fat..after some calculation his BMI is 29,3(overweight)30+ is very overweighted... , i found this thread real silly..i mean..why the hell do it so difficult, put lots of money in a special-sewed rig just to avoid some diet and exercising. But hey, what do i know..im just talking shit......as always! Just ran my BMI and would have to loose 40 lbs to get an normal/average BMI rating. I am 6' 1" and 210lbs at 12% body fat. So I would have to loose all my body fat and 15lbs muscle to be in the normal/average range.

  19. Would this not depend on a number of factors? DZ elevation? DZ size? (smalll Cessna or big turbine DZ) Jumpers previous experience and performance on other canopies? Does the jumper frequently visit other DZs?
  20. That is an awful analogy! Changes made above made the sport safer. How does a Velocity loaded to 2.0 work any better than a Spectre loaded to 1.2? That is pretty much the only reason I see to jump a small HP canopy, they are fun and exhilarating to fly and land. But come at a high risk and have become one of the most dangerous aspects of the sport today.

  22. Doing some back flying and decided that I would start my pull as I was rolling out of it, thought I could stable before letting go of my PC. Deployed head low and to the left and the dbag clipped my right heal sending it spinning, thought for sure that I was going to have to cut away the Stiletto I was flying, but it opened with 5 line twist but flew it self out of them. pull pull at altitude pull STABLE
  23. Just like bodypilot1 said it will wear out the velcro. I have seen a couple floating reserve handles on older rigs in FF. Both would have had a hard time finding their reserve handle which was floating towards the back of their arm pit if they needed it .
