  1. LOL, I do occassionally listen to the radio instead of Pandora Some canopies can be fun to fly, but treat you like their bitch on opening. -- Jarno
  2. Listen again Chris... the funeral music, the guy sobbing and saying, "Why so soon He died so young" followed by "He should have gone to West Side Skydivers" Some canopies can be fun to fly, but treat you like their bitch on opening. -- Jarno
  3. How could any dropzone create a radio ad as disgusting as this. Implying that jumping at another dropzone is fatal is despicable!! As a local Houston jumper I was glad that a second DZ opened to replace Skydive Houston closing. More options and places to go is ONLY good for our sport. But trying to build your business by implying that jumping at Skydive Spaceland you risk death does NOT help skydiving in any way. Please help me make it known to West Side Skydivers Houston that they need to pull their ad and post a public apology for something so disgusting and slanderous. I am not posting this for anyone at Spaceland, this is something I brought to their attention and am doing this soley on my own. Please listen to the attachment and make your own decision. 4. I would still default to don't jump something smaller than you are comfortable landing. Storms work great at any WL when flown with other Storms :) Beg and borrow from friends there in Italy that have them and try one out. The CF Strom can land you badly if your not careful. I am roughly 110Kg and I jump a 120 CF Storm, but I also jump a 99JFX for freefall. Some canopies can be fun to fly, but treat you like their bitch on opening. -- Jarno
  5. There really isnt a "best" wingloading for the Storm, its more what are you compentent and capable of. Teams WL and compete with them ranging from 1.3 to 2.0+ I would recommend getting a demo CF Storm a tad bigger than your normal canopy and seeing what you think, being short lined the landings are .... different Some canopies can be fun to fly, but treat you like their bitch on opening. -- Jarno
  6. If your profile info is correct Wendy in Temple TX is your closest option, followed by Walt in San Marcos, or me in Houston at Spaceland bart Wendy has a camp the last weekend of Oct.. http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=149924728429461 Some canopies can be fun to fly, but treat you like their bitch on opening. -- Jarno
  7. Spot you need to throw your weight around at Sony and get em to put remote shutter release on these things.... oye my neck would love this thing!!! http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr5-the-full-a77-a65-nex-7-and-nex-5n-specs/ Some canopies can be fun to fly, but treat you like their bitch on opening. -- Jarno
  8. I have a 120 CF Storm I load at 2.0 Given the different trim, short lined canopy, I cant speak to the 'normal' version but I do get a decent surf from mine. If you dont bring the CF with speed it lands like crap Some canopies can be fun to fly, but treat you like their bitch on opening. -- Jarno
  9. I can totally see how that happened if you peel the handles and apply them to the suit and that is it. I added a "clasp" that goes around the harness that keeps the lateral next to the slits I added for handles to prevent just that. 10. Was able to get one skydive in this weekend on it, first impression was definately a good one. Some canopies can be fun to fly, but treat you like their bitch on opening. -- Jarno

  14. Good look it it..... they are so much more fun when you add a face to the helmet.... beyond your own though :) Some canopies can be fun to fly, but treat you like their bitch on opening. -- Jarno

  18. Yup, I learned my lesson on hat landing... I will jump it again this year but trust me the landing will be much different this time lol.... Some canopies can be fun to fly, but treat you like their bitch on opening. -- Jarno
  19. Have been neglecting the forums... sorry for my delayed response but yes I did sandwich in 3 different layers of CF into my helmet. In hindsight it was probably a complete waste of money and a bigger headache than I expected. It didnt add any structural strength and sanding it was a huge PITA!!!! I would discourage you from the idea but if you want PM me and I will give you my phone number and can talk about it in more detail. 20. Using my Tri 150 (WL 1.5) I have downplanes with average speeds of 50-57mph per my Altitrack. When I pitch out the door to do CRW it is usually when we do the downplane that the Altitrack finally thinks I have jumped... :) Side note: I jump without an AAD Some canopies can be fun to fly, but treat you like their bitch on opening. -- Jarno
  21. I know of 2 vidiots that jumps with a soft collar and both swear by them. I was debating using one as I was building my helmet but it ended up weighing a lot less than I anticipated so I have opted not to. I don't think they are a bad idea but keeping your head in the right position (a whole nother can of worms and opinions) is just as effective in my opinion. I usually look down and if worried I cup my chin which my hands thru opening shock then reach up n grab my risers... blah blah bart Some canopies can be fun to fly, but treat you like their bitch on opening. -- Jarno
  22. It is actually modeled after the Immortals from the movie 300. http://civilizer.files.wordpress.com/2007/07/300-persian.jpg The teeth are just random cuts, nothing implied but it is a common question. I would say it is 25% carbon fiber and 75% fiberglass, plate excluded. I do, when building the helmet I added extra room around the ears for ditter/speakers. If you strip down a set of headphones the actual speaker is roughly the size of 3 quarters stacked up. I have a 1 gig I-pod shuffle mounted on the top plate so that I can easily control it in the plane, freefall, or under canopy. The quality and volume easily overcomes freefall noise. Under canopy I usually turn off or way down the music but when shooting 4way it tends to become boring hehe. My 4way team occassionally has caught me bouncing my head to music during training jumps :) Additionally I also have a piezo speaker that is 0.6mm thick wired into the padding that runs up to my audible (also mounted to the top plate) and decible output of the piezo is easily heard over the music Some canopies can be fun to fly, but treat you like their bitch on opening. -- Jarno
  23. LOL, you can say it... I wasn't trying to hide it, just not done with the plate. I assume you refer to my integrated entertainment system, ie Ipod and surround sound system hehe Some canopies can be fun to fly, but treat you like their bitch on opening. -- Jarno
  24. I ended up going with a paper asshole on the inside of the goggles instead of a ringsite, since the googles are fixed this works out well. I have a Canon xTi with a crappy 18-55 lens (new lens on my wish list with Santa hehe) The helmet fits amazingly well.. much more quiet in freefall than I expected. I need to adjust the padding in a place or two, it did swell a bit more than expected in a place or two. I am going to completely redo the top plate to be more flexible and interchangable but I threw that plate together to get it in the air. 25. Making sure I lost ZERO peripheral was a huge concern, with the way I designed the mask there is no loss of vision at all. I see as good out of this as I do out of my Optic.... amazingly enough it is also lighter than my Optic by a half pound Some canopies can be fun to fly, but treat you like their bitch on opening. -- Jarno
