  1. I always tip. Not because I feel like I have to but because I want to.
  2. I actually feel a lot better today. Thanks everyone.
  3. Oh my, 6 beers and I wouldn't even be able to tell you where my shins are....I'll try the deep heat, golf ball and maybe one beer. Thanks!
  4. Good to know. I've never had problems with my shins in the past and I'm not a runner so you're probably right. Thanks.
  5. I think I got shin splints from landing the other day. Think that's possible? Has it happened to anyone else? It felt like I landed a little harder and faster than normal but I only had to run it out a few steps. Never had them before but man is it uncomfortable!! 3 days later and I'm still feeling it. I wonder what I did wrong.
  6. I don't think I would have done my 1st jump without a radio. It wasn't like my instructor had to use it much but just knowing it was there, eased my anxiety. I have no shame in using it or admitting that I used one for my first 8 jumps. I learn better when I'm corrected as I'm making the mistake.
  7. Sorry, I meant collapse the slider.
  8. I'm not going to try it. I'm just curious.....What is the purpose of tying the slider after you open?
  9. Me too-I'm ALWAYS the last one to land. It's funny....The other day a guy on the same load as me, jumped after me, had already repacked by the time I made it down! I couldn't believe it. I don't mind being last though. It's probably best for everyone involved.
  10. I started in the tunnel just before my AFF and continued through out it. The instructor had me doing pretend altitude checks, wave and pulls every time. After reading that, I'm so glad she did.
  11. My chest muscles (below the collarbone) are always sore after I spend time in the wind tunnel. I thought it was just me because I asked a few people and they said it didn't bother them at all.
  12. Is that the normal exit for that type of plane?
  13. I experience way more fear on my landings than the plane ride or the free fall. I'm a little nervous on the way up but I kind of like that feeling. I love the exit. That's my favorite!
  14. I felt the same way on my 1st tandem. I think I was thinking about breathing too much. I seriously thought I was going to pass out. My next jump I tried tilting my head back more....like I was looking up, and it helped. It also helps me to be more stable at pull time when I do that as well.
  15. I know you said you don't want to discuss details but may I ask if your depression is chemical or situational?
  16. I agree with you. I tip because my instructors always go above and beyond what's required of them. They share their experiences with me, encourage me, challange me, help calm me down, give me tips and suggestions etc., and they just make it more fun. Same thing with the packers, they always ask how my jump went and offer tips.
  17. None but it wouldn't have bothered me if I had to redo a level. I actually like being a student and having the structure of AFF. Maybe I'm weird because I'm in no rush. Although I'm done with AFF, I'm just enjoying my time as a student. As the saying goes....Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it. 18. I can't help it, I've always been a screamer. I feel back to normal already. Thanks for your help.
  19. I haven't packed my own yet. Thank you, I will talk to my instructor about that.
  20. My neck hurts from my last jump two days ago. I remember thinking it felt like it took longer for the canopy to open than usual and when it did, the jolt from it was really intense. My head flew back....and it's hard to explain but the way the harness fit seemed different after.... Maybe it was just my imagination though. It scared me so much that I screamed and I had to take a second to get myself together. I was stable at pull time but I guess I could have changed my body position as I was pulling and I'm just not aware of it. Could this be a hard opening? I thought a hard opening causes the canopy to open super fast and I felt like mine took longer than usual? Or do you think it was caused from poor body position? It doesn't hurt to turn my head. The pain is in the muscles that run down the side of the neck. Any suggestions or comments as to what would cause this or how to avoid it from happening again? Thanks.
  21. I don't understand why tandem instructors do that. I know it supposed to be funny and it makes for a good video but it only made me more nervous than I already was. I never gave myself the option of backing out though. Thank god none of my AFF instructors did that.
  22. I have a benny but I don't really have much to compare it with. I couldn't get the elastic on my goggles to stretch long enough to fit through the channel but other than that it was ok. I switched to a full face as soon as I was allowed.
  23. I have a Benny. The elastic on my goggles isn't long enough to thread it through the channel. I look like a big dork in it but it's comfortable. I only got it so I didn't have to use those dirty dz helmets and now that I'm allowed to wear a full face I switched.
